Bentley, Dierks - Pride (In The Name Of Love) Lyrics

One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come here to justify
One man to overthrow

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Bentley, Dierks Pride (In The Name Of Love) Comments
  1. A.... D....

One of my favorite songs I normally hate remakes but this was one of the coolest I heard.
    Great job with the arrangement!

  2. F.... H....

So good seems to be original number and U2 a remake

  3. d.... ....

MLK killed 51 years ago....how is it we are moving backward in time....

  4. M.... L....

I love U2 and this particular song, and this version is great!

  5. T.... B....

Honestly, I listened to both, the U2 version is kinda shit. I listened to the official video... and I'm honestly not getting it. Is there something I'm missing?

  6. M.... P....

Dale what a voice and great performance

  7. R.... B....

Omg. This good. He did a very good job.

  8. P.... B....

Beautifully done, U2 is proud when anyone takes the time to cover / rework their message.

  9. D.... G....

    Love this song

  10. U.... G....

    brilliant

  11. R.... ....

The difference between Dierks and Bono is that Bono doesn't need an accompaniment to sing the chorus.

  12. P.... ....

I wish Chris and Del had sung the entirety of the song instead of Dierks.

  13. B.... R....

great song, great cover. mandolin and harmony vox make it, ripping it up on the 8 strings adds something raw that honours the spirit of the tune. cool. thanks for posting.

  14. t.... ....

Wish Chris Thile had been singing. Dierks Bentley's growl just sounds weird in a U2 song and weird in such a delicate Punch brothers arrangement.

  15. S.... H....

    del mccoury makes this song

  16. j.... ....

    I love this remake....incredible sound!

  17. k.... ....

@dsprad61 my mistake, thank you for correcting me, I'm not that familiar with bluegrass

  18. U.... ....

this is the only remake of a U2 song that i actually respect.

  19. k.... ....

@rheeny12 It's a guy, Del McCoury, who is an old, but famous country singer.

  20. R.... M....

This was cool. Disappointed with the chorus, but I'm glad he didn't try to compete with Bono's amazingly emotional version.

and is that a guy or a girl singing along with him??

  21. R.... M....

@bhoyjack "more emotional than Bono's rendtions"? There's no such thing

  22. D.... R....

I just listen to both and I can honestly say, Dierks version is better. In my opinion of course. But then again. I always thought U2 sucked. Bunch of whiners they are.

  23. k.... ....

If you all haven't seen him on his Jagermeister Tour, it is a MUST SEE! I saw him a few weeks ago up here in Minnesota. He put on a hell of a show, his best ever since I've been seeing him, so much energy, so much fun!

  24. M.... D....

@richapeyton11 did u mean destroys...kills it!! A+++ AWesome every 1...a must buy CD... have it for the artwork in hands & to play in the Car quit burning & stealing the artists profits...thank U 2!! : ) ...mld.

  25. E.... ....

    Great job with the arrangement!

  26. J.... C....

One of my favorite songs I normally hate remakes but this was one of the coolest I heard.

  27. j.... ....

brilliant cover of my favorite U2 song of all time!

  28. t.... ....

    ..... omg, ew. hahahahahaa

  29. M.... [....

    PERFECT!!! U2+Country=LOVE!!!

  30. U.... ....

Chris Thile is a witch. That is all.

  31. V.... ....

This song makes me want to live :)

  32. G.... M....

This version kicks . Bono should be proud.

  33. S.... M....

I believe this to be better than U2's version.

  34. s.... ....

    @bhoyjack ...certainly you haven't been in a U2 show...

  35. B.... ....

Wow... U2 is my favorite band easily, and I'm a pretty big Punch Brothers (well, really Chris Thile) fan. Chris Thile is the best mandolin player alive... Wow...

  36. s.... ....

    Wow... amazing

  37. k.... ....

@Ben951000 Obviously you have no idea how good Dierks Bentley is. Plus it's a bluegrass/country version. It's not supposed to compete with the original, that wasn't his intention

  38. r.... ....

Chris Thile DESTORYS that mandolin break.

  39. C.... M....

love this record.. this record is pure genius...

  40. w.... ....

I prefer this version, rather than the original. Dierks & Del McCoury are awesome together, and we musn't forget the Punch Brothers

  41. e.... ....

Don't forget Chris Thile from Nickel Creek! He works that mandolin like a madman.

  42. p.... p....

    <3 B-E-A-UTIFUL!!

  43. s.... h....

    great cover

  44. K.... M....

saw him live at state college :)

wasn't too crazy about country or bluegrass or anything of that type, but dierks managed to change my mind! this song is simply beauteous

  45. K.... S....

Del does excellent on the high part!

  46. r.... ....

He sings the original, historically inaccurate "Early morning," so I'm going with "April 4th." Missed him A Merlefest - would love to hear this studio line up live jamming off the end of the tune!

  47. k.... ....

He is awesome! One of my favorite live country acts to see!

  48. L.... E....

Smashed it. Dierks is the man
