Bennett, Tony - September Song Lyrics
When I was a young man
Courting the girls
I played me a waiting game
If a maid refused me with tossing curls
I let the old Earth take a couple of whirls
And as time came around
She came my way
As time came around
She came
But, it's a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game
Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days I'll spend with you
These precious days I'll spend with you
And the wine dwindles down to a precious brew
September, November
And these few vintage years I'll spend with you
These precious years I'll spend with you

Bennett, Tony September Song Comments
Thank you Tony for making me feel young again.
Tony 👍 eccho ? 👎
I am 86 years old & this song is a very old favourite which has grown on me as the years have passed by. I know te words & sing them, in my not so good voice, quite often. Tony Bennett sings it better than anyone else. But then, he sings a lot of other songs so better than anyone else! Thank you Tony & whoever made it possible. Alfred
Just listen to the words if you are as old as I am
This is one of my all-time favorites. Thank you, Mr. Bennett, for the best version I've ever heard. May you go on singing through all of the seasons.
No one compares to tony 💛💛
My heart does something funny when I hear Tony sing this song! And just sigh, when it ends! No one sings this better than Tony!
At his best
Nice song which makes us reflect and think about life. When we are Young it is the spring of life for us now we have passed the midcentury we are in Autumn. The days as the song says seem shorter to us than they did when we were Young. And its up to us to make our lives meaningful now, sharing with the ones we love instead of lamenting what we did not accomplish when Young or lost opportunities. So lets live and enjoy!
wow great song by Tony
The video for September Song-Tony Bennett: does anyone know the name of the font shown for the lyrics on the screen?
+Audrey Korolyk DUBBYAA TEE EFFF, Audrey !!!???
The on screen lyrics don't match Mr. Bennet's version.
nor is the heading's or your spelling of Bennett's name accurate
nor is the heading's?
I think the only version I've heard of this song was Lindsy Buckingham ' s (Fleetwood Mac) and it was good. But Tony Bennett did a great job. I have discovered as an older adult that I really enjoy Tony Bennett ' s work. Thank you for posting.
You should also listen to The Flamingos' version, with Sollie McElroy's soaring lead. It's something for one's ears to behold.
Csodálatos ez a dal, köszönettel Klára.
Even as a young child,, I could feel,, could understand,,, that this song was telling me that life passes like the beautiful spring leaves,,, that,,, in just a short while,, will grow old and fall slowly,,,, to the ground that bore them,,, and just as this song made me feel sad, at the very tender age of 8,,, it has the same effect even now,,,,,, at,,,, 60,, love and life are eternal, one in the same!!!
YES,,SO MANY GOOD ONES,BUT NON LIKE HIM,,,OUR PRESENT AMERICAN TREASURE
Only Tony Bennett and Ezio Pinza can sing this song as it should be! A great rendition! SJH
great song ,great voice
Best rendition. Thanx for the upload.
The true icon of American singers- bar none! Winning a Gray at 85 has never been done before and probably will never be repeated.
This is magnificent! Tony at his absolute best!
Beautiful song. Thanks.
