Ben Lee - I Love Pop Music Lyrics
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
Global warming threatens life as we know it on this planet (ohh ooh)
And leaders have not committed to a plan of action on renewable energy
The food crisis is currently affecting a hundred million people world wide
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone
There are over 6 billion people on this planet and not enough fresh drinking water (we're in trouble)
Religious intolerance creating geopolitical instability (shine a light)
Politicians battling each other like professional wrestlers (ooh)
Further division is not the answer, division is not the answer
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone
Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone
Turn up the radio
Greed and fear seem to be the driving forces of modern life
We're encouraged to consume and consume with no thought of where it all comes from, and where it all goes
Our lives are accelerating as we fall out of touch with nature and ancient myth
We're desperately in need of a brand new dream
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
(Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone
Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone)
I love pop music, this is how we do it
It's politics you can romance to
I love pop music, sprinkle sugar through it,
Philosophy that you can dance to
(Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone
Turn up the radio
And sing along, like you're all alone)

Ben Lee I Love Pop Music Comments
last time I hear this was when I was in preschool wow
2020: 98
Pop music is the most fakest “music” genres out there. There using computer beats to make it like a “sound”.
i love song this...
He writes awsome songs.... this one brightens my day!
As much as a big message about society is supposed to be shining through here, this isn't Lee's best. The only song bit about it is the chorus. The rest is just talking with no rhyming in it. Disappointing, considering this was from the album after Ripe. But hey, at least What's So Bad (About Feeling Good)? is pretty decent.
I had never heard on Ben Lee before, I literally typed I love pop music and this came up, not bad
Great Job Hope you get a small loan of a million dollars
F***ing LOVE this song!
“Oh shit dat me.”

Beat this James Arthur you emo domesticated DAGwood dog
Cant tell if I like this or not! Is it being sarcastic? Is he genuine? Great tune but then goes on a School House Rock rant in the middle. I am a fan of his Tornado album. Interesting none the less.
School House Rock rant? What remote island do you live on where this information doesn't apply? A decade later and this song still applies.

Ben lee is my favorite artist and this is the first song I heard by him a few years back
@Simran Khataw this is something
The single most pretentious git ever to grace the earth
Someone's a butthurt right-winger.
Hahaha! I'm a democratic socialist with discerning taste in music actually. If you want decent music, head to www.facebook.com/adldnb
@Automated Mike Res ipsa loquitur
Great song and video, but is there a higher res version somewhere?
Love this! 100% social freedom!
Filmed in my home town
Is that Rosewood?
Why do people hate this song so much? If you can't hear the irony in it you must be deaf.
Nope, not a trace of irony. Just a pretentious, self righteous egomaniac in the guise of a pretentious, self righteous egomaniac hipster wannabe.
Matthew, it's because people simultaneously have fear and jealousy of happiness and good things. Those people are insignificant losers. Never mind them.
I just don't like it because it's only half a song. What should be singing is replaced with normal talking that doesn't rhyme at all.
C J jealousy of happiness?? WTF!!!
IGNORANCE IS SPREADING

If Ben likes pop music he is a pleb
I know a girl who would lay him. Whatever his sexuality and she is sexy to boot. Her curves sway to his music. She is sensitive to rhythm and poetry generally. Even I would if I was single.
I heard this song while I was shopping at Zara in Bologna, Italy and it was so catchy! Many kisses from a new Italian fan Ben :)
This is probably the worst and most annoying song i have ever heard
I don't listen to T Pain at all I never even heard of him until you said it, fatty bum bum!
yup, fattest around. Sooo fat it would make you jealous. You on the other hand, probably listen to stuff like T Pain and shit like that. Need I say more?
Hippies are coming back :,D!
this guy is the god of indie feel good music
There is something wrong with you, you like this song, you donkey raping shit eater!
I love being a scumbag, you just have no sense of humour. you're probably fat too!

77 people hate pop music
The bit i like the most is when the bull stepped back and was like WTF!
Did anyone else picture Ben Lee being cut down with a machine gun, or is it just me?
Might aswell call this the mainstream song.

Love this song and love Ben Lee! Please let us know if there the great guy is bringing out any new music because it is awesome!
Go aussies :P
I don't know why, but I got this in my recommended videos.
Never heard of Ben Lee, but I like it, keep making nice music, you've got some talent.
i seriously only listened to this crap for missy higgins' beautiful voice lol!
Ben Lee can SUCK MY BALLS!!!
And Missy Higgins on backing vocals can fuck right off too!!!
OK. i think I have it figured out. It only seems like poser music at first if you are a terrible cynic. Ben is aware of this and deliberately plays with his own naivette. He is aware that the world sucks, but at least we have a call to action to make things better. It's a weird honor thing you wouldn't expect. It is truly "childlikie", but not as simple as some might think, only more so? I give up. fuck it man, just be happy
I know there are a few different takes on what the song's meaning is, but I believe it to be very simple: music (or in this case, pop music) is what brings people together (uniting people instead of dividing them, as Ben exclaims, division is not the answer!) - in spite of war, strife and human suffering. "It's politics you can romance to, philosophy you can dance to"
I love how this isn't staged and he just went around Rosewood to all the locals. :P His music is great. :'D
these are some good beach listening songs!! :)
@fgv112 yeah well, regardless of my opinion of Ben Lee, the fact of the matter is he's making piles of money and living his dream, while you're trash talking and spreading homophobia on the internet. Woo, how impressive are you? *sarcasm*
@fgv112 Grow up, and learn to better use the English language.
A lot of pretentious noise!
And Missy Higgins on backing vocals can fuck right off too!!!
ROSEWOOD i go to school where he is...
This is a fantastic song!!!! An awesome video! I love that he's playing in the street, but not collecting money, giving flowers and cupcakes to the listeners! LOL! Awesome! Philosophy you can dance to, indeed :) the more familiar I get with Ben, the more I like his music!
wooot rosewood ftw wooot if you know where rosewood is omg i went to rosewood high my friend met ben lee wooot
I love his scarf. I really like this song.
@fgv112 paha. okay then. you totally won that argument big boy.
Where is your home town?
hes a bit of a try hard...

i love pop music!!!
global issues
you're really dense.
get his name right!
flaccid.
flaccid96? its flacco96. look whos the idiot now dumbass. der der der der
flaccid96: shut up you fuckin idiot
I think he means the ideas expressed. They're in line with some of the things he expresses in liner notes, etc. What may be ironic is whether such thoughts can be marketed in a pop world.
The musical/rhythmic differences are quite stark. That's telling us something; the question is what.
i want the lyrics XD
