Can someone please tell me the plot of this drama?

Emma MS it’s kinda hard to explain. It’s about a guy who was a slave in Korea, something happened that made him need to run away and he ends up in the USA. He becomes a soldier in the army and ends up back in Korean (this takes place in the Colonial era so a few places were trying to take over Korea) Eugene (the lead male/ main character) has been assigned to kill an American but they don’t want anyone to know an American killed him. Japan at this time holds lots of the ‘bad guys’ and the one being assassinated was working with them. Anyway, the lead girl in this is pretty much part of what’s called ‘ the righteous army’ which consists of people trying to keep Korea away from the other countries trying to take over. She is also a noblewoman though, very few people know about her but when Eugene goes to kill the guy she’s also there to kill him. They see each other and know about that secret. That’s just kinda the background and how the leads meet I guess🤷‍♀️ there’s also of course a love triangle but it’s three guys and their bromance is AMAZING. The show does an amazing job and having humour but it’s not over powering. This is kinda gory and doesn’t end happy so be warned.

On a serious note, I really hate ae shin's character and the writer really sum up it well in the drama. She's ambitious yet self centered and useless, also not that bright. Those 3 dumbass always have to clean up after her mess and in the end died for her. Her character really is a bad luck considering people around her died just to 'protect' her. Eugene was right cruel, meanand selfish. On the contrary, I believe the strong female character in this drama actually Hina Kudo, she smart, calculating and tsundere. She fought till her last breath and she's always covering for those dumbasses. Her life was so sad and that just the downside of it (I hate the writer😭). Ae shin just a stuck up noble woman who thinks shevs strong bt she's not, through the first till last ep, three guys always protecting her. This isn't hate btw, just need to rant on how I hate this drama as much as I love it. They all can live actually bt it's not kim eun sook writer if the characters live happily ever after. #Done

This was truely a beautiful sad drama! To me Dong Mae was the most handsome I had seen in a while, even in these last episodes, with his messy long hair, he was gorgeous! Eugene and Ae Shin were so precious! Such beautiful scenes were filmed for these two! Hui Seung the last buddy, well I got so attatched to all 3 guys. Last but least Hina Kudo was such a great actress here! She was beautiful and strong! And I also loved the girls friendship, a friendship between two strong extra ordinary ladies!

This drama didn’t need kiss scenes. The love and friendship was so deep. Everybody who put in their hard work for this drama deserves recognition. This drama was one of the best drama! It had a great story line and a purpose for a sad ending. I can rewatch it again. #MrSunshine

The show ended the way i thought it should end. Everyone dies (not everyone of course) except for Ae-shin. If you do some research about Japan's occupation of Korea (1910 - 1945) you will find many skirmishes during that time period from many militia groups. The ending is sad, but it had to happen. Whenever they threw the words, "Sad ending" around it kinda gave it away to me. i did enjoy the series though the series is historically more focused on the militia/Righteous Army side of the story in my opinion. If there's one thing I will point out about Yoo-jin, Dong-mae, and Hee-sung. All three men's main objective was to protect Ae-shin. If you re-watch the episodes of Ae-shin's grandfather, he mentions this a lot from the start until he dies. Plus he did ask all three men to protect her should he die which they all did in their own way.

As far as the directing and acting. It was phenomenal in my opinion. If you don't know Mr. Sunshine is the one of the most expensive Kdrama series every made. The clothing, designing of the era, and etc was well done.
I do believe after many of viewers watching Mr. Sunshine will now go visit Korea and see where the acting and settings were taken. The scenery is beautiful and well done. I'm sure in time NetFlix will find another Korean drama series in the future as well since Mr. Sunshine was a huge hit in my opinion.
