This song takes me back to the two weeks that I practically became a living ghost, after my ex, who I was almost too in love with, broke up with me, for no reason. We had what seemed like a perfect year, were very happy, or so I, and all observers thought! I still don't know why he ripped my heart out and pissed on it? I know that it ruined me for a while. For two weeks I left my room to shower, use the restroom, smoke, and once every other day or so, to eat. The rest of the time was spent listening to music, crying more than I thought humanly possible and about every 3 nights, falling asleep in a fetal position on my hardwood floor. The bed still smelled like him. So, in my madness and grief, I didn't want to sleep in the bed, nor wash the sheets. It took a very long time for me to be able to hear this song, along with a couple of others, or to speak or think about him, and the breakup, without falling apart. It worked out well for me though, I eventually got back with the ex that I had spent a decade with, and also had a heartbreaking split with, as he was either going to go to rehab, or die on me. And he would not go to rehab while I was around. He did about 8 months after I left. I was dating someone else, and though I still loved him very much, and he me, I wouldn't break up with someone else that loved me too, and that I loved.. After rehab, he got a few very good job opportunities in a few national parks that he had always wanted to see. They were temp jobs, so he could work one for a few months, then quit, and hike to the next. Hiking/backpacking the USA was always his dream, one he couldn't achieve while with me. So for about 2 years he did that. He made it known that he'd end his adventure at any time to come back home to me, when I was ready, as he knew I was the love of his life, and had no interest in even trying to see anyone else. Eventually, at my behest, he gave it a go. And it didnt go any better than seeing others had for me.. I was determined to not be the reason that he ended his adventure. But he finally had enough of it, and moved back to the area. Several months later I decided to give us another shot! Five years later we were married, and I'm happy to say that we are both happier than we have ever been! The heartbreaks that I endured only give me more reasons to be grateful for having someone wonderful, and for our having an exceptionally great relationship! So anyone who reads this long ass comment, and is in their own despair, please know that you can and will heal! And that you can find a happiness that you never knew or even hoped for!
