Anyone else hear this song as a lighthearted tribute to producer Trevor Horn and The Buggles?
Yes - they've gone for 1980 vibe totally. Trevor has obviously channelled Squeeze, Costello and that sort of Buggles studio sound with the reverbs/Farfisa/synths etc.
Everyone else seems to have an opinion about the major influence for this track...I'll just leave this here:

They played this one when I went to see them around the time this came out. Not one of the tunes I expected to hear, but it was great live.
I remember seeing them in 2004 touring this album and when they played this people went to the toilet/to get another drink because they thought it was a cover (I reckon people are lazy and don't listen to an album all the way through, so the last song gets missed). But it is a fucking amazing track, especially live.
