The late Bee Gees' manager Robert Stigwood generally had great instincts for picking singles, but he was not infallible, and putting this song on the B-side of the second single ("Love So Right") from the "Children of the World" album and not saving it for the A-side of the third single release was a mistake. I remember how disappointed I was when "YSIML" was on the back of " LSR"" and, later, when "Boogie Child," a not very single-worthy tune, was released as single #3. I spoke with RSO Records at the time and expressed my dismay and the gal I spoke with agreed with me. She called "YSIML" "sex on vinyl," and said it should have been saved for an A-side. When I saw the Gibbs at Madison Square Garden that winter I had to sit through the forced funk of "Boogie Child" instead of the organically rapturous "You Stepped Into My Life." And that, my friends, is how hits are lost and "hidden treasures" made.

I can certainly understand where you're coming from. However, during those days of the "45" vinyl singles, it was not uncommon to assign a near or equally strong song as the B-side.
This was done by certain labels to actually boost the sales of the single by allowing the buying public to feel that they actually got more than they paid for! A good example of this is the "You Should Be Dancing" single has the song "Subway" as the B-side which was also a great upbeat song ( loved the synth hook and Barry's falsetto actually competing with the saxophone in the
ad- lib ending part).
I hope this shed a little bit of light on how the music industry worked during those days way before CDs and now Downloads!

Well, thanks for your comments, Dennis. Yes, I am absolutely aware of that practice and thought the same thing about the B-side, "Subway" back then, which I played the heck out of back in the day. I was there back in the '60s and '70s and in the ''70s/'80s was involved in producing, recording and label work. And of course before the '70s the Beatles were famous for "double A-sides," because just about everything they wrote was a gem. But in my estimation it was still a mistake to put "You Stepped Into My Life" as the B-side to "Love So Right." "Boogie Child" would have served the purpose and we could have had a much better A-side for the fans and posterity (and, actually, back then, for more profit for the Brothers Gibb and RSO).

Youtube has them under Pop and Soul. They also were great at Rock & Roll, 67 and 68 plus country. They could do anything except Opera.

+Jourdy Wongtrakun what so many people emphasize to be disco is between "75" to "79" but their next album, "Living Eyes" proved the group was R&B ! A lot of people who didn't know the group thought they were black, But again, those that don't know what they're talking about will call them a disco band ! Donna Summer and KC and the Sunshine Band were Disco, The Brother's Gibb stuck to their R&B roots throughout their career !
