Beck - Orphans Lyrics
Think I'm stranded but I don't know where
I got this diamond that don't know how to shine
In the sun where these dark winds wail
And these children leave their rulers behind
As we cross ten leagues from a Rubicon
If we could learn how to freeze ourselves alive
We could learn to leave these burdens to burn
Cast out these creatures of woe
Who shattered themselves
Fighting a fire with your bare hands
Now my journey takes me further south
I want to hear what the blind men sing
With their fossils and their gypsy bones
And how can I new again
What rusts every time it rains?
And the rain it comes and floods our lungs
We're just orphans in a tidal wave's wake
If I wake up and see my maker coming
With all of his crimson and his iron desire
We'll drag the streets with the baggage of longing
To be loved or destroyed
From a void to a grain of sand in your hand

Beck Orphans Comments
Dark. Under rated... Good....really good.
Beck is pure Genius .
Somehow reminds me of Lotus flower...
Kinda reminds me of 'Remember a Day', an early Pink Floyd song.
Danger Mouse production is next to perfection...one of the best colab efforts in my library
Love it!
I like this song but it sounds strangely like Carly Simon's You're so vain
I think this is his weakest album. Yet it still manages to be really good :)
Weaker than Golden Feelings?
Stop talking about Kanye on Beck's videos. You're only making him stronger when you say his name, you fools.
One year later and I don't think people have figured it out yet..
haha thank you!
The irony
What the fuck do people see in Kanye ? Just another bland hip hop rap egotistical nobody .Look at the diverse artistry that Beck conjures up album after album.
Vince Bevis DUDE MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY
This album destroys Kaynes whole catalog.
Modern Guilt is definitely one of Becks most under appreciated works. It's a fine work of art which Kanye wouldn't understand, ignorant.
used to listen to this like everyday on my ipod first year of highschool
I heard this song at chilis!
Reminds me of a Sabbath song
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
I think you handled that little "argument" with pauloemiliano11 like a boss. Don't let the negative "thumbs down"-thingies fool you.
He didn't say that he thinks this generation sucks etc. He didn't say that he felt superior. He even didn't say that he thought he was cool for liking Beck.
YOU thought he implied that he does feel superior yet HE states that it was not his intention to "brag" about his age etc. etc. plus he made that comment over 2 years ago and we were all idiots when we were 12.
Ah fuck it, I should really stop responding to comments and start to listen the fucking song. G'night!
scence??????!?!?
I really like your name, brings up some fabulous imagery.
Beck is one of those artists that was written as a two-hitter I think, even though he's known for one song. He's awesome without a doubt. I need to make a playlist of his music.
Again you twist my words to make me look like i'm in the wrong, but you attacked me for a comment I made two years ago to cause an argument, which will do one thing, garner your self some attention, negative attention that is.
Look here guy, you saw my post about liking the same music older people like and in your twisted view of reality you changed this positive comment to some negative bragging about what generation I was or wasn't born in. You lay an impression of a negative person, maybe you should get a therapist to tell you why this is.
1 moron disliked this ha! good ONE
Oh yeah! I'm totally gonna seriously stock up on some Beck cds next time I go to the record store! ugh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Considering he's won several Grammys, numerous other awards, is generally critically acclaimed and has sold millions of albums that consistently peak on the billboard charts I wouldn't exactly call him underapreciated
time of the assassins is also brilliant....that album is amazing!
@cornelwaugh
That's a good thing.
@BloodSpade1984 sadly not irony but I understand what you are saying.
@frogcannon ironically i'm 28 and i've been listening to Beck since I was 12 (maybe, even, 9 or 10).... just sayin'
I played this at my first gig. It went down well.
Gunslinger
I wish I could make a song the way Beck and Nigel do... Oh well, Gotta keep doing my thing... Check out my songs!
Greatest song ever. And i haven't even been born yet.
The end of this song is just euphoric.
also, 4 years old here and loving Beck since I was born and all that
Jack White played bass on "Go It Alone" off Guero, and I sense a reverse influence, too. Both musicians are great, and it's nice to see them rub off on each other. Listen to Dead Weather.
Someone should totally point me towards more music that sounds like 2:41 onwards. [:
I see what ur saying and i agree, it's just that this song is amazing, there really is mothing like it and beck has been cranking out hi hop ,folk , country rock techno ,gems like this for more than a decade, he deserves sum more credit, there is literally NO ONE else like him.
i think he is not... being underapreciated by the mainstream is a compliment! beck is a cult figure... he needs to be nothing more than that
holy crap thats good... never undestimate beck i am 12 and i have been listening to his songs scence i was BORN!
Great choon
yea thanx alot great song, beck is so underapreciated
