Can anyone out there tell me WHY this turned in to a Brian / Jeff guitar competition debate??? There are 3 great guitarists up there. Leave it at that , enjoy the music, and shut the fuck up! I don't think ONE of you commenters can play better then any of these guys!

I have decided that people can (and will) argue over just about anything. They are both amazing guitarists.

It's beyond comprehension that Brian Setzer never made Rollings Stones' top 100, plus you never hear him mentioned as an influence really, but I would think he cares not, because he seems so humble and really looks like he enjoys playing so much. I had the honor and privilege of seeing the Stray Cats play at a really small venue in New York back in the early 80s, and I was able to get right up to the stage in front of Brian Setzer. I'm here to tell you, that it was one of the most amazing concert experiences in my life - right there with seeing Santana, Roger Waters, and I kid you not, Rage Against the Machine. BS was amazing and he had so much charisma - I can still see him playing. I begged my parents to go to that show, because I was still in my early teens, and the venue was in a really bad part of town, but they let me go, and I'm thankful for that, because I can't even begin to say how great he was. I will never forget.

Fair to say Setzer owns that tune from playing it.Kudos to Beck for humility.Is quite an argument for Setzers talent.

In my ear, Setzer is the best guitarist on the planet. Metal crap can get all the press and recognition, but this cat is the master. Blues, rockabilly, big band jazz, plain good old rock ‘n roll, country. I’m pretty sure he could throw down with any style of player, and make a strong showing against “the best” in that genre.

What would music be like if the Brits had brought rockabily back instead of the blues?

Yeah Setzers' phrasing is just Godlike! (If that's a word) always liked both of these guys but Brian just has "IT" . That magic combination of chops,feel, and taste.

Four years ago, I completed a quest I started in 2007, and finally got Setzer to complete the autographs of all three Stray Cats on my original Built For Speed album cover... It took four concerts (including a round trip drive of over 600 kilometres for Slim Jim), but I did it.

I love the editing on this... right after Setzer takes the stage and shakes Jeff Beckxs hand, they cut to an audience shot and there's Brian Setzer near the top center of the screen!

Dang, it doesn't get any better. All three guys on stage are legends!

Not a competition folks. Im a huge Setzer fan but just take a listen to Beck on crazy legs album if u d like to hear him play this style of music. Every song doesnt have to be showing every trick in the book. This song featured Setzer so of coursr u let Setzer have the glory.

Beck did a CD a few years back called Crazy Legs, a collection of Cliff Gallup/Gene Vincent songs, acknowledging the greatness of Cliff Gallup.

Firstly credit to Jeff Beck for promoting Rockabilly (and Imelda/Darren specifically).
It's not adviseable however to bring on Brian Setzer and say he is (only) the singer with Stray Cats.
Setzer's guitar playing on Rockabilly tunes is different class. Beck looks bewildered at one point.
Jeff is the master of the strat-with-a-whammy-bar style but not on the park with Brian here.
Not that its a competition....

I hope your comment stays right here at the top because your exactly right. Beck's so overrated it's not even funny. He normally play's with a lot of effect's because he like's those sound's. Setzer on the other hand keep's it clean and can absolutely play anything Beck can play...

@Doug Davis indeed he cannot paly anything setzer can. Nor can Setzer play anything that beck does. Im sure either can play the others style in short order.
