Beck, Jeff - Shapes Of Things Lyrics
Shapes of things before my eyes,
Just help me to despise.
Will time make men more wise?
Here, within my lonely frame,
Will time make men more sane?
Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier, (Now listen)
Come tomorrow, maybe I'm older than today.
(Listen to this)
Here within my lonely frame,
My eyes just hurt my goddarn brain.
Will time make men more sane?

Jeff Beck, with Rod Stewart on mike
Don't get better than this folks.....unless you get a bigger amp.!
Excellent.
How Many more Times the solo and the riff in the beginning that leads into the chorus is reminds me like communication breakdown.
Just blasted this last night at level 11 in my garage gym.
Horrific.
Rod Stewart said that if they had stayed together that Zeppelin would have had alot of competition.
Released one month before I was born. Hey Jude was No. 1 on the charts at the time....😎
ooh yea, and push like!!!!!
push cancel
if you've been in-cognito for a while...let me bring u up 2 date... this is not 4-u!!!!!!
Page borrowed the intro for "Out on the Tiles" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT1Xh4Qg_iw
Jeff Beck Group, the Faces, Every Picture Tells a Story … when Rod Stewart was actually good... then he went disco
Lounge Lizard persona
Went to America more like.!
01:45 amazing jazz style drumming there
Degree7 reminds Micky Waller’s drumming reminds me a lot of Mitch Mitchell
Jeff Beck wanted Keith Moon... when Mick joined he told him that was the style he wanted
Lair of the Mastermind I don’t think Moon could pull that off though
Psychedelic rock, progressive rock, hard rock, blues rock, heavy metal, power pop, acid rock, pop rock, experimental rock, Christian rock, funk rock
Penis enlargers and cunt rock!
Please no Christian Rock, unless you mean the stand up. There is great Christian music; classical, renaissance, some folk, and I suppose carols count too. But man, Christian Rock, Godawful. No pun intended.
Released 1968, not 66. In 1966 Beck was still in The Yardbirds.
Phineas Bogg yes late 1965 early 1966 was actually the year that the yardbirds recorded the original
Motorin', what's your price for flight?
Talk about an unexpected reference lol...
@Jimmy Calhoun Sounds almost identical. Can't believe the similarity isn't well known.
YES! I heard it right away. The same thing with “Footloose” and “Funk #49”.
I heard it right away
You either love this version of this song or hate in my talks with people... personally I love it because THIS and Zeppelin gave birth to heavy metal in my eyes take it for what it’s worth but it’s just my opinion
Rod Stewart is the wrong vocalist for this song.
K B well back then he rocked hard but now in retrospect you’re correct it’s sad to see how downhill he went for what he was
Iron Man?
Damn. This version sucks th back of my choad. Yardbirds th best
gran tema es un buen clasico
Hey man, hope I don't seem rude, but this is from 1968. If only music sounded like this back in '66!
Listen to the original you idiot, its far better.
that squeal at @2:28 is the absolute excrement,
...such amazing use of microtones by slide guitar throughout this track!
borderline metal....wow. I also put this record to school when I was six years old and I was always in the music now I just like to smoke some weed and kick back and remember how great this whole album is
This album is the birth of heavy metal.
Imo Jeff Beck invented heavy metal in The Yardbirds
Awesome pot-high song.
I know he is rich and doesn't need my opinion but isn't it funny to think Rod Stewart is now singing lounge type music (nothing wrong with it) and used to ROCK like this so hard!
He and Clapton have both done so much to soil their own musical reputations, people forget how much ass they used to kick once upon a time.
Zep was almost this good
This blows Zep away . From a die hard Zep fan
Led Zeppelin aren’t even on the jeff beck group’s level
Shitty version, over rated? Why are you here we don't bother you on your boy band pages,
, it's a great album, FUCK OFF!
Its 1968 not '66 by the way
I brought this album to school and played it in the lunch room. Blew everyone away. He is doing things in 67 that still blow me away
Haha, yeah that would have been a fucking loud album for 1966. It was a fucking loud album for early 1968.
I seem to recall it being out in late 1967..
I have this LP. Used to have the 8 Track.
Yes correct 1968, however the yardbirds recorded it in early 1966, jeff beck was a also member of the yardbirds
Yuckkk! What a crap version of this great song!!!
shut up, bitch.
no, just no.
agreed. this album has nothing to do with all the crap heavy metal bands that came later.
Just saw the face of a female for the first time on this album cover. Guess I always just opened pulled placed and turned it on and up....Great album great song....Early speed metal/fusion/etc.
her name is celia hammond,a model and beck's girlfriend for many years.
Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, Ron Wood, .. grupazo!
+Gonzalo Rosas great album one of the best from the 60's don't forget nicky Hopkins on keyboards I saw them at filmore east in 67,68
+Gonzalo Rosas Nicky Hopkins and Keith Moon too.
Who played drums?
stewart is a turd
Davan Mani Micky Waller Played the drums and he kicked total ass on the whole album
Great drum-work from Micky Waller.
I was disapointed when he changed drummers after this album mickey is a great drummer.
But Tony Newman was also a great drummer. He'd been with Sound Inc. and did a lot of work at Abbey Road, including sessions for George Martin. He went on to, amongst others, T Rex, David Bowie (replacing another Beck drummer, Aynsley Dunbar) and the Everly Brothers. 'Beck-Ola' has some great playing. But yes, Micky Waller was also tremendous. British drummers - many like Waller, Neman, Dunbar, Hiseman, Bonham, Paice, etc. steeped in jazz were the best of the era.
Live Mickey Waller was Amazing to Watch..
Jeff said he wanted Moony but couldn't get him but found Mick and was happy with his loose style
un tema que marcó al propio jimi hendrix
Ahead of it's time by 2-8 years.
@Michael Harris 2 years, to be exact. This is 68, not 66. Def post Hendrix.
_Truth_ (the complete album) was recorded 16 May 1966, 5 June 1967, 5 and 7 December 1967, 15-26 May 1968 in London. _Truth_ was released in August 1968.
Ohhhhh Yeah!!!
Its all about Ron Wood on bass
It's all about Jeff Beck
+Thesocalballer It's about the group as a whole. Plus, Mickey Waller doesn't get enough credit for his driving rhythms on this track.
+Phillip Bonahoom Ronnie also played some bak up guitar along with page on this album
wood blows , he blew then and he blows NOW
Jeff and Rod may have had something to do with it, as well. Maybe Mickey Waller, too.
real rock, not the shit that pollutes the waves & stores these days
Rod Stewart with one and only Jeff Beck, cerca 1969! Riding in my Chevy, finidhing high school. elvispdude
Happy New Year!
Thanks. That's right. '68.
Release date was August, 1968.
Great song. Love Gary Moore's rendition too...
Jeff Healy too
It was 1969-not 1966-that the Jeff beck Group released the album "Truth," containing this awesome track. Back when Rod Stewart rocked hard....
beckola in1969
I bought a used copy of this LP at a used record/guitar pawn shop 6 years ago. Had many good nights listening to it. Words, words, words.... all I can say is that I have a massive headache right now...
THIS is how to do a cover
