What a bizarre version. Not sure if I like it or not....not what I think of when I think of Beck.

This was incredibly lame. It sounds like Jeff had no interest whatsoever in this. Mickey Most was trying to make him more commercial by marketing him as Duane Eddy. Interestingly, all the B-sides are the good ones.

"L'amour est bleu" (English title: "Love Is Blue") is a song whose music was composed by André Popp, and whose lyrics were written by Pierre Cour, in 1967. Bryan Blackburn later wrote English-language lyrics for it.[1] First performed in French by Greek singer Vicky Leandros (appearing as Vicky) as the Luxembourgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967, it has since been recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version (recorded in late 1967) became the only number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in America.

It was Vicky Leandros, who performed the original version of the song "L´Amour Est Bleu". It was her performance in Vienna for the "Grand Prix Eurovision De La Chanson", 1967. It reached #4 (The winner was Sandie Shaw with "Puppet On The String"). "L´Amour Est Bleu", written by André Popp / Pierre Cour / engl.: Charles Blackburn. The song was released by Philips (+Polydor) in several languages, there were two english versions: "Love Is Blue" and "Colours Of Love". The instrumental version by Paul Mauriat went to #1 in the USA, Jeff Becks version only reached #30 in the UK. The flipside of Jeff Becks 45, "I´ve Been Drinking", with the vocal performance of Rod Stewart, is more releated to his album release "Truth". Play "I Ain´t Superstitious" from that album and you´ll get a real impression of Jeff Beck´ s guitar performance. Very cool.

Was in my teens when Love is blue went No 1 in the US... In heavy competition with the Beatles and Pink Floyd this song found a place in my heart - and, yes, love WAS blue! Proof for this was Jeff Beck, though he had some struggle with the original version...

I went to his show in Toronto couple of months back but too bad this song wasn't played.....thank u so much!
