Beck, Jeff - I Got To Have A Song Lyrics
Got no place to be, no ones needing me
My girl just said were through
Love was here to stay, only yesterday
Today my world is blue
So, show me to where theres music
With music, I might just go home
I got to have a song
To keep me going on
I, I got to have a song now, now
Had a happy home, now its turned to stone
Kitchens cold and bare
She cooks all day for me, I hurry home to see
But I know she's not there
So, show me to where theres music
Show me to where theres music
I got to have a song
To keep me going on
I, I got to have a song baby
Show me to where theres music
Show me to where theres music
With music, I just might go home
I got to have a song
To keep me going on
I got to have a song baby
Got no place to be, no ones needing me
My girl just said were through
Love was here to stay, only yesterday
Today my world is blue
So, show me to where theres music
Show me to where theres music
With music, I just might go home
I got to have a song baby
To keep me going on now, now
Somebody please, help me get a song
Oh I got to have, I got to have,
I got a have, I got to have a song now
Yeah, yeah, yeah
To make me feel so good
To make me feel alright

One tab of acid, 24 hours under headphones,
BEST DAY EVAH!!
Love this entire album. Wore the grooves off of it.
Beautiful band.Shame it was only a 2 album band. They were good live.
I'd go with" even better live" I must have seen them 3 or 4 times but can't remember what tune Tench played second guitar = Definitely Maybe, maybe?
@Joe McNamara Bobby Tench was talented.I saw a Van Morrison concert in the mid 70's and Tench was the lead guitarist of Van Morrison's band.I thought that was Becks best band.
This album STILL sounds fresh and current after all these years...!!!
Still amazed by this album decades later, and yes Bobby Tench was a fantastic singer

Lived on this and Rough and Ready when I was a wee teenager. Bob Tench with Beck and James Dewar with Robin Trower were my favorite vocalists.
Yeah... I got that. Dewar on Long Misty Days soothe me baby
Saw Trower 3 times. Front row, he remembered me, got a pick. An undying fascination with great guitarist...
Love this version although I grew up on Stevie's.
Recorded in Mempho......Oh yes......
Steve cropper produced
Saw Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy last night Jeff Still has it at 72 oh man.
believe I read that beck used a les paul on this and rough and ready. it has a warmer tone than the strat.
when he toured after this album was released he only played a strat
Oh man. I wore this album out in high school. Yipes.
Susan Love yep. Wore the grooves off of mine. Peace🎼🎵🎵🎶🎶
Oh Shit, bringing on the memories ...LOVE IT-LOVE IT simple good music SHOW ME!
Good version. I think Stevie's version is better though.
Of course. But pretty good cover. And Cozy Powell's drumming-YESSSSSSSSSS!
Absolutely I don't think so.
hey. who sped up Situation?. Too damn fast. Sounds like Alvin Chipmunk...
me too.....love highways, unbelievable track
Please get rid of all ads on youtube. Maybe give them a little box with no sound on the bottom right that says here's a list of our cashflow.
It really sounds like a throwaway from Jesus Christ Superstar or something. I like the lead singer's voice, though.
Bobby Tench=most underrated rock singer of ALL time!!!!
I'd put this album in my top ten of all time.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM................
THANKS JEFF FOR THE BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD GROWING UP .......ALSO THE BEATLES.......CARLOS
The Beatles were my older siblings' music. The Yardbirds and their offspring are MINE!
I was surprised to hear Stevie Wonder's original after hearing Jeff Beck Group's version only. Stevie's opening guitar chords sounded stiff, w/o swing, but , of course, still good in its own right. I know and love JBG's version. Now, I have two to love. Both make the same essential point: Show me to where there's music! I gotta have a song! Yeah!
This album was recorded at Steve Cropper's studio in Memphis,
..... Led Zepplin III was recorded there also,
check the credits
You are correct sir.......I was livin in Memphis during both album cuts.....Some good times...good times...
Maybe they all hung out together?
Tera Shima? i always thought it was done at Ardent but now i think you're right it was mixed at ardent
Soooooooo goood. Takes me back to my days cruising with the top down and my 8-track blasting this tune and "Going Down." (down, down, down dowwwwwwn) Wooo-hooooooo!!!
compared to stevies' version this is much better. the little wrinkle with the keyboard is a nice touch. a great fill in.
totally agree bobby's vocal kick ass
Agree.Jeff Beck entire group was awesome!
Thank you Sir, for posting this FAR FAR underrated cover of the classic Stevie Wonder tune! Definitely maybe my favorite JBG song
