Beck, Jeff - Blues De Luxe Lyrics

I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad.
I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad.
Some people say love is just a gamble.
But whatever it is, it's about to drive poor me mad.
I sit here in my lonely room,
Tears flowing down my eyes.
As I sit here in my lonely room,
Tears flowing on down my eyes,
I wonder how you could treat me so low-down and dirty.
You know what? Your heart must be made out of iron,
And it ain't no lie.
Sometimes, I get so worried, people,
I could just sit right down and cry.
Sometimes, I get so worried, people,
You know I could sit right down and cry.
Because I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad.

  1. A.... B....

    Fantastic!!!!!

  2. F.... A....

NICKY HOPKINS ON PIANO IS THE GREATEST PIANO PLAYER. I DIDN'T SEE LIVE IN BRAZIL. HE'S THE TRUE 6th ROLLING STONES MEMBER.

  3. r.... a....

This is top of the pyramid, and Beck is just tremendous on guitar -Hendrix, and he defined the borders of the instrument anew.

  4. i.... ....

And the great Ronnie Wood on bass---- I also think John Paul Jones is played bass on a couple of songs

  5. U.... ....

Does anyone know why they named the song Blues Deluxe?

  6. M.... ....

Ollie Halsall and Tony Newman @ 20 seconds ?

  7. j.... y....

mind is a spooky thang [ Siddharta Buddha ]

  13. c.... ....

    NAME of song!!!!

  14. S.... 2....

The Nicky Hopkins / Jeff Beck solos in the middle are absolutely stunning & Jeff comes in with such a statement! I'm still wowed by it today. Better than most of the stuff he's done after this band's two albums!

  15. D.... L....

I grant that JB became a high level player with Blow by Blow. However this isn't impressive to me at all. Rod Stewart was amazing here. The piano player was nice too. Beck for me was nowhere near the top players from that time: Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Mike Bloomfield, Clapton and others were all on top of this era Beck. I do respect that he worked and became a leading player later.

  16. C.... J....

Joe Bonamassa album sleeve brought me here.

  17. g.... y....

    Écouter (Black is black)

  18. D.... F....

Nicky Hopkins throat punches everyone on this cut!!!

  19. J.... S....

On a good night in 68 or early 69 Jimi Mitch and Noel would have dug deeper into your soul with their blues IMHO not forgetting Mike Bloomfield or Mick Taylor. There's empathic musicality and there's showboating. Mind you on that orange album Jeff is meister of slide and wah wah!!

  20. B.... L....

Hope I die before I get old, whoops!!
    Too late.

  21. L.... O....

What's wrong with the 23 thumbs down as of 3/23/19

  22. P.... W....

Beck, Clapton , and Mayall all re cut from the same cloth . That's my intake.

  23. j.... e....

    crackssssss

  24. S.... L....

God everybody is so stellar on this recording but I think Nicky Hopkins steals it ultimately.

  25. J.... G....

U guys know Rod was going 2 be a soccer player?
    Last moment, he sang!

  26. J.... G....

    Yummy, yum, hum !

  27. J.... G....

    I luv d Tot

  28. J.... G....

    Os Rod Stewart black?

  29. E.... E....

ROD WAS AT ONE TIME THE GREATEST BLUES ROCK SINGER EVER.

  30. k.... r....

Truth is the best 'll I ever bought and I have bought hundreds, I still enjoy it at 72 years young.

    k.... r....

This and rough and ready.so fine.

    k.... r....

My Hub Dude sez "Damn straight!" re 'Truth"!!!

  31. B.... D....

A true super group: Nicky Hopkins, Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck !!!

  32. S.... B....

That must be the first key on the piano that that Nicky is tinkling

  33. F.... S....

Yeah that's one hardcore heavy Nicky Hopkins solo! Hell, the whole song's great, including the fake crowd sound effects!

  34. D.... D....

Still have this lp and it is still one of the best ever recorded. Other favs are Second Winter, Layla, Let it Bleed...

Sexy ass music...mm, mm, mm...Fantastic musicians, all...

  38. L.... L....

Si no te gusta esto sacate el corazon q nunca tuviste já

  39. v.... ....

Great playing, especially from Nicky Hopkins. But this is not an original song, at least not by Jeff Beck. It is a blues standard. Not sure who wrote it, but it certainly was not Jeff Beck

  40. P.... L....

Absolutely beautiful. Could loop this for hours.........just "they don't make this shit any more..." stunning. Turn it up!

    P.... L....

    Right on.

  41. D.... F....

    When Rod could sing.....

  42. J.... B....

The shouts and screams come not from an angry Beck but from an enthusiastic crowd. Blues Deluxe is a straight blues rigged up with a live-audience ambient backing track to give the feeling of a live performance. “Yeah, I faked that up. It was good fun,” Beck laughed. “We just added a bit of The Beatles’ reception at the Empire Hall, Wembley.”

  43. J.... W....

BLUES... real beautiful BLUES !!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/bluesrealbeautifulblues/

  44. S.... M....

That's because it was a Les Paul.

  46. Z.... ....

I still have the original vinyl. Probably in my top three guitar solos of all time.

  47. D.... G....

Is this yet another Rod Stewart Vocal?? Not from PLYTH ?

  48. j.... s....

The drummer's not bad too NB Sammy Mitchell Band  circa?

  49. L.... A....

  52. C.... ....

Rod Stewart can sing everything - blessed with that raspy voice

    C.... ....

Rod had the Greatest Blues Voice Ever...

    C.... ....

Too bad he went from a GREAT blues singer to a sell out with crap like Hot Legs and all the other commercial garbage.

  53. j.... m....

    GRANDIOSO.

  54. S.... S....

  56. M.... M....

best guitar player ever for ever!!

  57. F.... A....

Revivendo uma grande época da minha vida! Fantástica interpretação!

  58. m.... ....

If Joe is garbage! Lmfao, then ur a complete fucking moron. Y don't u post urself playing, I'd love to hear what u consider non garbage. Oh wait, if ur that great, I'm sure I can just find u in ITunes. Surely uv got a hit song or 2. Fn tard.

  59. m.... s....

I remembered that keith moon was on this album......I was so sure he was in this band in its early days. None the less still amazing

    m.... s....

No, Keith Moon wasn't in the Jeff Beck Group. However, in May '66, with Jeff 'bored' in the Yardbirds, manager Simon Napier-Bell enlisted session guitarist/producer Jimmy Page (yes, him) to produce a one-off session for Jeff. Jeff and longtime pal Jimmy composed the tune (though Page took the credit), and the latter enlisted Moon, Nicky Hopkins on piano and John Entwistle on bass, with Page on rhythm and Beck on lead. At the last minute, however, Entwistle withdrew, so Page brought in session body John Paul Jones. Things went so well that there was the spontaneous idea to form a group. Beck in particular was enamoured with the idea, but within a few days Moon balked, apparently to to a combination of uncertainty (the Who were just taking off) and ominous talk from management. However, the story has it that he (or Entwistle) commented that were the group to happen they'd 'go down like a lead balloon' in America. Never one to overlook an idea, Page later converted that into Led Zeppelin. Other than that Moon played tympani on 'Old Man River' on the 'Truth' album. John Paul Jones also added Hammond organ.

  60. l.... ....

Sometimes I forget how Soulful These Scottish & Irish Singers are.  Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Annie Lennox who is next to Joss Stone the only White Girl who could hold her own with Al Green.

    l.... ....

    Don't forget Maggy Bell.

    l.... ....

Joss Stone WHAT? She can't hold a candle to Annie Lennox, so don't call her name alongside with the one and only Al Green

    l.... ....

Amen to that , Laminage .

  61. m.... ....

Love it but gotta say, I think Joe Bonamassa's version is much better. His shredding and vocals put Rod and Jeff to shame. IMO

    m.... ....

And you're a shame... Bonamassa is RUBBISH; a soft, boring,
scale-runner guitar player with poor musical meaning.

    m.... ....

    Shredding pisses me off.

    m.... ....

Joe B doesn't have half of Beck's feel.

    m.... ....

    mang313 lmao. Right.

    m.... ....

Craig Collins correct. No offense. He is a fkn chunk in Jeff Beck's stool.

  62. s.... b....

In JB's notes for the blues delux album he says his version was inspired by the original one and goes on to say that it shows the timelessness of the blues and proves that the blues is a living thing that evolves with it's players.....whatever version you prefer just enjoy and appreciate.

    s.... b....

was no blues delux album...was Truth

    s.... b....

Joe Bonamassa album is called Blues Deluxe

    s.... b....

Sorry guys I don't make it clear that I was talking about Joe Bonamassa and his version of blues deluxe from the album of the same name.

  63. M.... V....

The JBG are the first heavy metal blues band, many folowed few succeeded.

    M.... V....

Ain't that right. So many bad heavy metal groups.

  64. x.... ....

    who gives a shit, right?

  65. x.... ....

Still my favorite album of all fucking time and I'm 66. I've heard a lot of things in my time but hard to match this

    x.... ....

commdan68 63 and a mere babe when I roamed Fillmore. one of my favorites

    x.... ....

Agreed. One of the best albums put together.

    x.... ....

xltoday -- I think I heard this played on _'Nuthin' But the Blues'_ from KKJZ 88.1 FM in Long Beach CA. I always loved Rod Stewart's voice, and this just made me love him that much more. By the way, I'm 50, and I think he has kids older than I am...

    x.... ....

you're right ..i luv this recording

    x.... ....

Truly one of the great rock records ever made & a quantum leap forward in musicianship. Ron Wood should have stayed with the bass. As a guitarist he's mediocre and sloppy at best... a perfect fit for the amateurish live rolling stones concerts.

  66. A.... ....

I saw them play this at STEVE PAUL'S SCENE ,a very small venue in Manhattan ,N.Y.C. in the summer of 1968.I have been a fan of Jeff Beck ever since ,and saw him several times.

  67. m.... ....

    that applause sounds thrown in.

    m.... ....

+madelefant05 - The applause was added, and in the liner notes Beck thanks 'Bert and Stan' for providing a 'perfect example of the 'live' music we sometimes give forth...'.

    m.... ....

    lol. kewl.

    m.... ....

    lol no kidding, kinda lame

    m.... ....

    Its not Live!

    m.... ....

Per my comment above, no it's not live...it was added as a bit of humour.

  68. G.... M....

Saw Rod Stewart at U Hall at the tender age of 14. Blue Oyster Cult was one of the two bands who opened. A million years ago.

    G.... M....

+Gayle Millner   Just like you,  I was fortunate to see them at 14yrs old.....What a trip!  Super group!

    G.... M....

+Gayle Millne. For a million I would guessed 35. Darn I'm I must be 1.5 million. Good thing I have a lying mirror. Jeff Beck 5 times by 20, million.

    G.... M....

I live on the Island now & BOC is a legend here. Saw RS twice with the Faces at the Spectrum in Philly. A million years ago. No need to reply, just killing time.

  69. K.... S....

    Perełka.....:-)

  70. B.... K....

Love love love Blues Deluxe!! Also love Joe Bonamassa's cover of Blues Deluxe from his Live at Rockpalast DVD and his CD named "Blues Deluxe!"

  71. m.... ....

Jeff beck, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Mickey Waller?

    m.... ....

+mayall88 - Yes, with Nicky Hopkins guesting on piano. He would soon join the band and appear on the 'Beck-Ola' album.

  72. O.... A....

El mejor guitarrista en resaltar y exigir a los demás músicos de su grupo. Todos excelentes.

  73. B.... ....

Jeff's guitar and Rod's voice still sound as good as ever!

  74. j.... ....

Jeff Beck was the only other modern rock guitarist besides Jimi Hendrix who actually changed the SOUND of the guitar, and was truly innovative.. I saw Jeff many times, but the Filmore East in Oct. 68 I recorded on a reel to reel dicatophone machine (which I still have the tape) and it seem to put Jeff's guitar way on top, so you can really hear the unique sound of a gold top Les Paul and a  Marshall stack !
Clapton was great, esp. on Stormy Monday (1966) but just a great blues player. Jeff made his guitar fart, shit and squeal, and he didn't copy Hendrix one bit. He was, and is his own self.

I only wish he would play straight blues again. I saw him fooling around trading licks with B.B. King on a DVD and for a bout 30 sec. he was the OLD Jeff..now he goes back to "space-guitar"  impressive, but not the blues man he still should acknowledge.

    j.... ....

@Kyros Ren You are obviously delusional....and NOT a musician

    j.... ....

Guess what mate? JB is STILL changing the sound of the modern electric guitar.....he is better than ever!

    j.... ....

@Cersades Cosmos You make ZERO sense. Hendrix was one dimensional but you are not knocking his creativity?! Saying he is one dimensional IS knocking his creativity. Stunning

    j.... ....

I do believe I was at that show......great stuff

    j.... ....

    Cersades Cosmos

What you’re saying about Hendrix is wrong. Hendrix improv’ed on planes of musical expression not ever heard or seen and played “blues” differently than any before him. He was not just some guy fumbling with pentatonic scales. The reason everyone discounts him in 2020 is many can play a facsimile of Hendrix, but follow his musical impact and don’t even understand Hendrix’s influence on them. Guitar playing in of itself would be half as popular if not for Hendrix.

  75. W.... H....

    'kin mustard!

  76. R.... R....

Blues Deluxe!!! Can't think of a better word for this track and the Jeff Beck Group...
    Perhaps: "Super Deluxe"  :-)

  77. B.... E....

Great track and classic photos...well done! Thanks for posting!

    B.... E....

I think the photos are awesome, kudos to the photographers.

  78. g.... c....

    g.... c....

Absolutely...Rod has the Greatest Blues Voice...

  79. S.... C....

The yardbirds ( EC/JB/JP ) + ROD stewart can change the Blues history in UK in 2014......

    S.... C....

Ron Wood and Charles Watts can join the band. Sorry No Mick Jagger;-(

  80. p.... h....

Joe Bonamassa's a fine guitarist but Beck's playing is extremely imaginative. He just pushes the song around, makes it his lump of clay.

    p.... h....

Only heard Bonamassa's cover of Truth's Let Me Love You on PBS.It was flawless.... except for the guitar solo.LOL.

  81. N.... M....

Unrecognized Super Group. Also "Beck Ola'"

  82. d.... ....

Nicky Hopkins couldn't play could he?

  83. T.... M....

I don't know. Joe can hold his own. I think he's right up there with Jeff.

    Magic - thank you

  87. D.... ....

why would they overdub? this was recorded live ...as were many albums at that time....that was the beauty of the late 60's !!

    D.... ....

DesertDrifterDawg No its a a studio track with love overdubs

  88. k.... ....

I bought this LP when it was first released and it still stands up as one of the greats and - yes, There is NO ONE like Beck!!!!

  89. k.... ....

    You are right

  90. b.... s....

    Nicky Hopkins on piano!

  91. N.... B....

    Dig It!

  92. K.... M....

    Aynsley Dunbar

  93. D.... ....

This song is unbelievable RIP Nicky Hopkins, the most amazing blues rock n roll piano player I've ever heard.

  94. S.... G....

you never mentioned a drummer, whos on drums?

    S.... G....

    Mickey Waller

    S.... G....

    Mickey Waller AKA Keith Moon

  95. D.... ....

well...of course, you might be right....but what's the point...its not uncommon ...especially back then...to do live recordings?
also...they could easily have undubbed the 1st take....

  96. m.... w....

I put this album on at a party in the late 70s and my friend hooted at me for playing this old fashioned heavy guitar bloozy stuff. So now it's 2013 and Truth is still a great album and its guitar sounds are still fantastic. And let's hear it for the late Nicky Hopkins who did what he does here on so many people's albums, making them better!

  97. M.... R....

Im pretty sure its overdubbed. The version has the first take without the aplausse added.

  98. D.... ....

...i'm pretty sure that this track was recorded live at a London club...and, that the applause is real...not overdubbed.
