Beatles, The - Two Of Us Lyrics

["I Dig A Pygmy" by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids. Phase one, in which Doris gets her oats.]

Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters
On my wall
You and me burning matches
Lifting latches
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

[We're going home, you better believe it. Goodbye.]

    Good old friends

  6. G.... 6....

You and I have memories long than the road that stretches out ahead....such beauty in a single line.

  7. P.... ....

So, I supposedly have to believe that this song talks about Paul and Linda? Come on ..

  8. j.... b....

    George Harrison on bass line.

  9. K.... ....

McCartney was the voice of the next decade.

  10. [.... m....

I’m glad this channel was created. Thank you for making every song by this legendary band available on YouTube in great quality.

  11. S.... C....

    I’m going home
    I too

  12. m.... ....

I've always wondered what Doris did after she gets the oats.

  13. M.... A....

Essa música além de linda, é eterna. Thank you The Beatles.

  14. T.... -....

    beatles fanatics....

  15. U.... t....

These freakin guys were blessed. So are we all to hear their creations

  16. J.... P....

I Have now started my journey of listening to every Beatles song in a row

    J.... P....

Joshua Pagan finished it twice bud

  17. P.... K....

Une très belle chanson des Beatles, assez méconnue, délaissée en raison du tube " Let it be ". Mc Cartney enthousiasmant comme d'habitude ....

  18. O.... G....

Used to love to listen to "Let It Be" on Sunday mornings as a kid. Now I love to hear and see it on YouTube. Happy Birthday today(December 26) to "Let It Be" producer Phil Spector. Cheers!

  19. B.... ....

This song honestly defines my life

  20. S.... B....

    One of their purest songs

  21. M.... W....

When He says goodbye towards the end I cried because it would be the perfect finish to the album

  22. A.... 0....

    VAFFANCULOOOOOOOOOO STRONZIII

  23. .... ....

    비틀즈 ♡

  24. c.... J....

Hate to burst all these romanticized comments about this song's meaning, but it's not about Lennon and McCartney, it's about Paul and Linda.

    c.... J....

Honestly, at first i thought so, but many parts of the song doesnt make sense to be for Linda.

    c.... J....

@celinhabr1 McCartney said it was about his fondness for driving out in the Scottish country-side with Linda and getting intentionally lost....before they were married.

  25. S.... W....

when I came home after a nightmare of 5 month isolation, I just sang & sang this gorgeous song to my wondrous wife of some 30 years & we cried & cried till there were no tears left.

  26. P.... M....

i find you have to listen o this song several times before you can really appreciate it.

  27. A.... ....

Assistir o filme yesterday e dps vim aqui admirar um pouco esses caras kkk

  28. I.... ....

As much conflict as there was in The Beatles at this time, the harmonies are still matchless. And George plays the best bass line on any Beatles song, not played by Paul (on his Fender Telecaster)

  29. J.... R....

OMG!!! I cannot STOP liking The Beatles, Well, actually I don't want to. Love them forever and ever.

  30. K.... ....

I played all my Beatles albums until they couldn't be played anymore . Had them all....all ruined. Thank you for posting all these songs . I listen to the Beatles EVERY day....makes my life better !! Been in love with them since 1964 ...I was 5 !!!

  31. I.... F....

This song is so playful and joyful... it's exactly what a spontaneous road trip feels like, windows down, radio blaring, wind in your hair... the simplest of joy in life: freedom :)

  32. s.... ....

This is so deep in my heart :'(

  33. L.... S....

    this is awesome

  34. M.... F....

I'd love to sing this Beatles classic in a karaoke club somewhere someday with another equally competent singer...It'd sound great I'm sure!

  35. J.... C....

im only 47yrs old i remember my sister was playing there music thinking to myself listening to there 🎶 like damn i am hearing something special

  36. J.... C....

John and Paul singing together.... On this track if so!!!?? Man it sounds beautiful...

  37. C.... S....

I liked how paul describes the album as love songs between him and John

    C.... S....

    where did he say this?

  38. A.... P....

    *"wE'rE gUaNa HaImE"*

    A.... P....

Angelyne Peña IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO COMMENT THIS

  39. c.... n....

Beatles the best group of their time ❤️

  40. A.... S....

My parents played this on the way back from the hospital after I was born. We really were on our way home.💕

  41. D.... B....

Just brilliant. That off-beat must have been hell to get right on the first take. Very few musicians could pull this off in a live performance.

  42. M.... w....

The song was originally titled "On Our Way Home". Ian MacDonald claimed the lyrics (e.g.: "you and I have memories/longer than the road that stretches out ahead" or "you and me chasing paper/getting nowhere") sounded like McCartney was probably addressing Lennon and contractual troubles

  43. M.... w....

"Two of Us" is a 1969 song written by Paul McCartney[1][2] (credited to Lennon–McCartney). The song was recorded by the Beatles on 31 January 1969. Its title was used for the film Two of Us, which depicts a fictionalized version of a 1976 reunion between McCartney and Lennon.

  44. M.... w....

Has to be about John. "Two of us chasing paper..." (ie, CASH)

  45. o.... c....

    Noviembre 2019!!
    Amo a the Beatles !!!!!.....

  46. J.... C....

    - Lead Vocal & Lead Acoustic Guitar: Paul McCartney
    - Whistling, Rhythm Acoustic Guitar & Harmony Vocal: John Lennon
    - Electric Guitar (doing the bassline): George Harrison
    - Drums: Ringo Starr

  47. b.... c....

WHERES THE ORIGINALS!!! REMASTERD SUCKS NO MAGIC

  48. A.... M....

Wow! Finally we've got The Beatles again with us!!!

  49. D.... L....

'I Dig a Pygmy', by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids... Phase One, in which Doris gets her oats!

  50. N.... ....

    Pure poetry...!!!

  51. J.... N....

Doris is name of a character from The Archers, was what John was thinking of when he made the joke?

  52. I.... ....

Even at the stage in their careers with all the problems, just listen to the harmony ....and George lays down the best Beatles bass line (on a Fender Telecaster!) on any song where Paul didn't play bass.

  53. P.... D....

Paul (violão canhoto e voz) Ringo (bateria) george (guitarra) e John Lennon (violão e vocal)

  54. D.... P....

    Touching.

  55. N.... ....

John Lennon & Paul McCartney forever.

  56. B.... E....

I want Paul's hair and beard.

  57. A.... G....

They're so gay, that's so cute

  58. T.... S....

    Sweet as a nut.

  59. D.... ....

    Four of they.

  60. T.... J....

"You and I have memories longer that the road stretches out ahead"

  61. F.... B....

    🙏12❤3🙏

  62. E.... ....

Even though I’m only 14, this song makes me feel very nostalgic. I listened to it as a toddler and remembering it from then makes me think of the good old days

  63. t.... p....

    i hate this song

  64. t.... b....

Was it not about j and p heading back from Hamburg

  65. J.... ....

By far my favorite Beatles song reminds me of my friend I lost earlier this year. Gets me so much it makes me tear up.

  66. a.... ....

This brings back memories of playing a pirated copy of DOOM 2 on a slow ass 486, sans math co-processor.

  68. M.... M....

    My favorite Beatles song!

  69. M.... F....

    Meisterwerk

  70. D.... B....

I was on a plane today and just as it was getting ready to leave the US for my beloved Netherlands, this song started playing!

  71. J.... H....

Let it be is a little gem in their whole discography

  72. I.... ....

The best bass line of a Beatles song, not played by Paul....George plays a great bass line in on his Stratocaster, not a bass guitar

    I.... ....

"The best bass line of a Beatles song" lol no.

  73. J.... P....

    such a charming song.

  74. M.... B....

    Best song on the album.

  75. M.... B....

This song sounds vaguely familiar but not sure i ever heard it. I love it. This is one album of theirs I never owned. Probably why

  76. G.... B....

Perhaps their best album, for me (joint with Rubber Soul)

  77. L.... ....

Wow, i have this album but i never heard this song... is incredible how you can still discover new Beatles songs after 50 years

    L.... ....

Same here, though i never owned the album. Most of the others though, especially the later ones. Not sure how i missed this jewel all these years, it's one of my favorites. I used to have this recurring dream where I discovered a Paul McCartney album from the past. Maybe it's because I knew I knew I had never become acquainted with this album, outside of the ones that received airplay or that I had on some compliation albums.

  78. B.... N....

Watch the original video when Paul’s singing and ringo is smiling away in the background.

  79. L.... T....

Look that whistle in the end...

  80. P.... U....

    Love ❤️❤️❤️

  81. S.... P....

This sounds like the greatfull dead

    S.... P....

    Lil' bit

  82. K.... B....

Great bass playing by George in this one!

  83. R.... T....

    Incredibly beautiful song.

  84. G.... B....

this was played at our wedding, 1978

  85. A.... a....

This song gets me in a good mood.

  86. J.... S....

    love this song.. so sad

  87. D.... F....

    JFC I love this song!

  88. B.... V....

    lol, hate that dumb intro

  89. D.... W....

One of many classics by The Beatles. A terrific made-for-TV '90s movie of the same name about Paul and John making an informal reunion. Truth of the matter, they stayed in contact with each other following the breakup and got together over the years.

  90. D.... J....

    Two of us riding nowhere

    Hard earned pay
    Two of us Sunday driving

    Two of us wearing raincoats
    Standing so low
    In the sun
    You and me chasing paper
    Getting nowhere

    On our way back home
    We're on our way home
    We're on our way home
    We're going home

  91. C.... S....
