Beatles, The - Old Brown Shoe Lyrics

I want a love that's right but right is only half of what's wrong
I want a short haired girl who sometimes wears it twice as long
Now I'm stepping out this old brown shoe, baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here, it won't be the same now, I'm telling you

You know you pick me up from where some try to drag me down
And when I see your smile replace every thoughtless frown
Got me escaping from this zoo, baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here, it won't be the same now when I'm with you

If I grow up I'll be a singer wearing rings on every finger
Not worrying what they or you say I'll live and love and maybe someday
Who knows, baby, you may comfort me

I may appear to be imperfect, my love is something you can't reject
I'm changing faster than the weather if you and me should get together
Who knows, baby, you may comfort me

I want that love of yours, to miss that love is something I'd hate
I'll make an early start, I'm making sure that I'm not late
For you sweet top lip I'm in the queue, baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here, it won't be the same now when I'm with you
I'm so glad you came here, it won't be the same now when I'm with you

Beatles, The Old Brown Shoe Comments
  1. L.... A....

Beatles recordando mis viejos tiempos conquistando bellas chicas

  2. M.... B....

Brown shoes don’t make it. Quit school, why fake it.

  3. T.... ....

Damn, the drums on this song are wicked.

  4. L.... M....

It is a unique and unparalleled piece, where you can appreciate the versatility of each instrument, the mastery of the sound in the drums, the piano flooding the song with dizzying rhythms, the d guitar raising and propping the song perfectly, the bass carrying in the rhythm with a master's cadence and George's unparalleled voice, telling in each stanza the story of an old brown shoe, great song, this song sums up his total mastery ... Beatles forever

  5. m.... ....

Can we stop with the whole underrated comments? it's the Beatles, how on earth can they be underrated?

  6. S.... V....

The song was supposed to be longer but the bass guitar caught on fire.

  7. M.... D....

Sounds bit like a Randy Newman song here

  8. M.... F....

Am I the only one to.think this remaster is terrible? All the warmth is evaporated and all the wrong things accentuated. Pardon me if I split and go listen to the original pressing. Yuk.

  9. C.... ....

This has always been one of my favorite Beatles songs! The Beatles never get old or tiring to me...I will listen to the Beatles until I am an old man! LOL Cheers!

  10. f.... m....

I love all you kids who still dig my shit,,,beatles forever!!!!!!!

  11. K.... T....

    Yeah Yeah Yeah

  12. R.... H....

Another great Beatles tune. They got so many forgotten songs but just makes them better when you remember them again. Wish they continued and never split up. Should have had a break for few years. Did some solo stuff then got back together at some point. Would have been good music I bet. Still they left a massive legacy anyway long live the Beatles I say peace world love x

  13. t.... t....

    Rip
    The beatles 1962-1970

  14. M.... M....

I've always wondered what the hell they're singing during the coda...? And who plays organ? Could be Billy Preston. Only thing that disappoints me about this track is that the vocals are quite distorted, especially the background vocal. It actually sounds to me like the vocals are done at the same time as the backing track, not separately. Take 2 has a better vocal sound to it in my opinion.

  15. M.... A....

What does the last phrase say?
Qué dicen en la última frase?

  16. G.... S....

    3 minutes of drop.
This is the song that keeps on giving. Genius, George.

  17. p.... m....

    BARRY. AND. RICHIE

  18. W.... ....

Back then, I worked hard to get this bass line right. One of my favorites.

  19. E.... P....

I’m gonna say it again: RINGO. ON. DRUMS!

  20. S.... O....

Why does this sound like a sitcom opening?

  21. W.... B....

    Need the lyrics posted!!

  22. S.... N....

I'm going to try to include George and Ringo's songs and vocals more in the Beatles than they did they had really good vocals too that were very Beatles like

  23. E.... P....

I still say that’s Ringo on drums!

  24. C.... R....

As common as it is, there are always many who say that a George song is underestimated. With George´ fans, all logic, reason, ethics, the sense of proportion, context, collaboration, are distorted,
nothing psychedelic way. Forget it, the unsuspecting, what they say in you tube, they write many many many mistakes and bullshit, nor read and study the Beatles subject to give your opinion. They are traitors to the good truth, of the Beatles and themselves. Opinions about George are in the same category as flat-earthism,
denial of the Apollo missions as all false, the modern rejection of vaccines, fanatic cultism and sects etc. etc. They are the pure expression of irrationality . Beatles clips on you tube is full of them. They write as they throw up.

  25. j.... P....

I always thought that Ringo stepped up his drums for George, and George stepped up his lead for Ringo. Just sounds like it to me

  26. W.... P....

Great song by George Harrison!!! And George plays Guitar and Bass. Paul sang backup and played Tack Piano, A tack piano, also known as a harpsipiano, jangle piano, and a junk piano, is an altered version of an ordinary piano. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂🚶

  27. B.... G....

    Beatles a lemur sommet

  28. U.... W....

Ok, I may have experienced one of those parallel universe jumps in my sleep, because I've been listening to and adoring the beatles since circa 1983 and I've never heard this song? Didn't know it existed. That is not possible. Like, I'm literally worried

  29. R.... ....

Elmore James got nothing on this boy.

  30. c.... b....

    who play the organ?

  31. c.... b....

    but what a bass line!

  32. c.... e....

Big and powerful rhythm by Ringo , tremendous song by George.

  33. A.... S....

    under the radar Beatles!!!

  34. A.... H....

    This song needs more bass.😀

  35. R.... T....

66 did not find the old brown shoe. (laughs)

  36. C.... C....

    The Hammond sound great!!!!!

  37. R.... N....

    George was a bassist, too

  38. k.... ....

One of their best songs. It's too bad George didn't get more of the focus.

  39. .... ....

    This is a killer song

  40. d.... ....

    mega bass from macca

  41. D.... M....

    Wow this song sucks!!

I understand why the Beatles didn’t want too many Harrison tunes.

  42. R.... ....

Qui siamo oltre i Beatles, qui c'è il talento di George, puro, potente, inimitabile.

  43. P.... B....

For your sweet top lip Im in the queue, best line

  44. L.... G....

I first discovered this song this august. I knew the Beatles so well, but for 10 years i had never heard this song.

  45. W.... F....

    Excelente inmenso GEORGE

  46. T.... ....

1:38 one of the best guitar solos to EVER land on a Beatles record, especially the last four seconds of it!

  47. T.... ....

It's a shame radio stations don't play this

  48. H.... D....

    I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BEATLES

  49. J.... C....

    - Lead Vocal, Electric Guitars, Bass & Organ: George Harrison
    - Piano: Paul McCartney
    - Drums: Ringo Starr
    - Backing Vocals: John Lennon & Paul McCartney

    J.... C....

George: lead vocal, guitar, organ; Paul: bass, drums, backing vocals; John: piano; Ringo: gone filming

    J.... C....

    Right you are José.

    J.... C....

Ringo on drums. No question about it

    J.... C....

@phillydisco Hey, long time no see! Still claiming filming wrapped up in April? And of course there IS a question: Why would Kevin Howlett claim that it's Paul, since Ringo was gone filming, if he didn't have good reason to do so?

  50. m.... ....

Please...for the love of god....stop with the " so underrated " comments. Underrated by whom???? Fans of the the band do not under rate it. If you must muse about the placement in history about this or any given song...please put it in context with an explanation of why.

  51. O.... M....

Essa é uma das melhores músicas do Beatles

  52. S.... R....

How is it possible, HOW, that after a year plus, this only has 284,591 views (4th November 2019)?????????????????????????????????????????

    S.... R....

because people dont care for it ? .

  53. S.... P....

For the longest time this wonderful song wasn't available on Youtube in its original, studio version. What a DELIGHT to be able to hear it again!

  54. E.... P....

There’s nobody gonna tell me Paul is on those drums!

    E.... P....

    Yes, there is: Kevin Howlett.

  55. E.... P....

I’ve read that’s Paul on drums! NO WAY! That’s Ringo!

    E.... P....

Paul is not a bad drummer but he is not so good as it takes to do this . Ringo no doubt .

    E.... P....

Goral I totally agree. The cymbal work, his hi hat work splashing them then closing them. Vintage Ringo!

  56. J.... T....

    what a pleasent bass guitar

  57. S.... B....

Been really digging this song a lot lately

  58. D.... B....

"Asinger wearing rings on every finger:RINGO!!!"

  59. D.... B....

    "On the Beatles again".

  60. s.... g....

First "speed metal piece" ever!!! and the best "dry solo guitar" by Harrison!!!

  61. M.... M....

I love this song but I don't like the mix... sounds thin, the song deserved more production

  62. r.... ....

    Another master piece by George.

  63. R.... F....

    GREEEEAT GEORGEEEEEE

  64. G.... ....

I've always loved the harmonies in this song. Even though they are brief. All three voices just mix together so well

  65. C.... E....

amazing guitar work and bass too!babe im love with you!

  66. G.... K....

Great song from George and fantastic bass!

  67. J.... W....

It is Paul on bass & drums as Ringo was filming The Magic Christian. Lennon played piano and Harrison on guitars/vocals & organ according to the Beatles Bible.

    J.... W....

No, Ringo was playing on this. I read the filming for Magic Christian wrapped up early April. In any case, it's clearly Ringo playing. Same style and quality, Paul isn't THAT good.

    J.... W....

@phillydisco Keep repeating your misinformation as long as you like - filming ended early MAY.

  68. m.... p....

It's a great song by George, but seems to be lacking in the production somehow. You can barely hear his voice, as if he was too far away from the mic, and even the musical instruments are not real clear and up front like a well produced Beatles record. It's almost like they needed a song to finish an album and just threw it together with one take.

  69. p.... ....

The transition point for the drumming at 1:50 is tricky, not easy for an occasional drummer like Paul. Not to mention keeping time the whole of the song. Only a technical drummer like Ringo could do that. So whoever keeps saying it's Paul is wrong. Ringo was finished filming Magic Christian by April 9th and was at this April 16th session.

    p.... ....

As a drummer myself, that's why i love this song ringo goes from being 'IN THE POCKET" TO THE UPBEAT TRANSITION and the tight snare and high hat sounds so good.

  70. P.... P....

Neither Ringo nor Paul drumming in this one. That's me!

    P.... P....

    You wish...

    P.... P....

What’s the name I’ll look you up

    P.... P....

Now now Bernard. It wasn't Paul anyhow!

  71. g.... g....

The Beatles eventually began work on the song on 16 April 1969. In the morning Harrison recorded a second demo version, and that evening the group taped four takes.

    Ringo
Starr was filming The Magic Christian, and was unavailable for the
session. In his place, the drums on the song were played by Paul
    McCartney.

The Beatles recorded four takes of the song. Take two,
the first complete run-through, was included on some formats of the 50th
anniversary reissue of Abbey Road. Take four, meanwhile, became the
    basis of the single version.

Track one of the eight-track tape
contained McCartney's drums, while the second and third featured
Harrison's guide vocals and lead guitar respectively. John Lennon's
piano part was recorded onto track four.

    Once take four had been
selected as the best attempt, The Beatles added a range of overdubs.
McCartney's bass guitar and another Harrison guitar part were recorded
on track six, and Harrison – with backing from Lennon and
McCartney – added lead vocals to track two.

    Additional backing
vocals from Lennon and McCartney were recorded on track five. All of the
vocals were intentionally distorted by studio engineer Jeff Jarratt.

  72. g.... g....

Really funny - all these years people were fighting if it was Paul or George on the bass (which doesn't matter anyway, the bass plays the same as the guitar, so while I believe it's Paul it could have been played easily by George), the real revelation here is that it's Paul on the drums!

  73. G.... F....

    bellissima 💖 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕.p

  74. P.... C....

If this was an A Side, then The Beatles would have had another number 1 to their collection.... Superb

  75. P.... M....

The falsetto at the end makes me think of Marc Bolan.

  76. C.... ....

OOOOIIIIIIII THIS SONGS SO GOOD ASIF I DIDNT FIND IT EARLIER

  77. H.... M....

I felt a closer connection to George than any other BEATLE

  78. H.... M....

I own many of George's albums

  79. H.... M....

    George Harrison wrote this

  80. R.... ....

1:04...My favorite bass-beat downshift on any song, ever.

  81. R.... ....

Vocals are so damn muffled and quiet on this mix. It needs to re-done. Like if you agree.

    R.... ....

That may have been what Harrison was aiming for. He was aiming for muffed sax on 'Savoy Truffle'.

  82. A.... R....

My dear George, my favorite (and underrated) Beatle ever.

  83. G.... F....

bellissima il basso di McCartney strepitoso💕.

  84. E.... G....

    Bloody sexy song!

  85. C.... C....

Harrison's playing on this track really shines. He has stated in an interview he is also on bass. McCartney on piano and vocals.

    C.... C....

McCartney plays bass and drums, John plays the piano. Look it up in the 50th anniversary book.

  86. R.... E....

Quienes fueron los pendejos 53 que le dieron un Dislike :(

  87. A.... H....

Love the galloping bass line at 1:04 and 1:52.

  88. p.... h....

    Rocks very Hard

  89. R.... ....

Hare Krishna.

  90. r.... f....

this song was on the "Hey Jude" album

    r.... f....

Yes sir I have the vinyl lp and cd

  91. G.... M....

For the Beatles this sounds sloppy and not quite together.

  92. m.... ....

There's so much going on here, they're all at the top of their game. This song just gets better with age.

  93. V.... ....

As a 10 year old this was my favorite Beatles track.....All my friends were busy playing marbles and my musical tastes were light years ahead of theirs.

  94. K.... M....

He couldn’t resist a “yeah yeah yeah” at the end.

  95. C.... ....

The b side to The Ballad of John and Yoko

  96. g.... l....

    NOT BAD,LADS,......NOT BAD,......INTERESTING BASS WORK,...STRONG DRUMS,.......RHYTHM GUITAR ADEQUATED,....KEYBOARDS FROM OTHER WORLD,...A SONG,.....UNIQUE VOCALS,.......NOT BAD,......AND THE LYRICS,THE AMAZING LEAD GUITAR,...MNH MNH !

  97. A.... A....

Lazy bass playing but great !!! Its weird but it's beatly

  98. K.... D....
