Beatles, The - Johnny B. Goode Lyrics

Deep down in Louisianna
Close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods
Among the evergreens
There stand a country cabin
Made of clay and wood
Where lives a young country boy
Named Johnny B. Goode
He never ever learned
To read or write a book so well
But he could play his guitar
Just like a-ringing a bell

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B. Goode!

He used to carry his guitar
In a gunny sack
Sit beneath the trees
By the railroad track
Oh sitting and a-playing
In the shade
Drumming to the rhythm
That the drivers made
People passing by
Used to stop and say
My oh my
That country boy can play

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B. Goode!

Well his mama told him
Someday you will be a man
And you will be the leader
Of a big old band
Many people coming
From miles around
To hear you play your music
Till the sun goes down
Maybe some day
Your name will be in light
Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight!

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B.Goode!

Beatles, The Johnny B. Goode Comments
  1. M.... M....

Johnny b good and some other guy should of been released on there original albums

  2. G.... ....

tbh i like this version more, something about it being slower just makes it better... especially with John's voice.

  3. G.... ....

Sounds like a Rutles tribute band - who are these lads?

  4. H.... D....

    I LOVE BEATLES.....!!!!!!!!!!

  5. E.... V....

John parece que lo hace desanimado like si tú también te diste cuenta

  6. 1.... ....

I think the people that give "thumbs down" to this BBC Radio Recording song, is that they are expecting a "Studio Quality"
Recording. Sorry, it doesn't work like that! These Recordings,
Are NOT NOW! That is, they were Not recorded in the Digital age!
Most of these recordings survived, because fans recorded them,
crudely off the radio at their houses, or the BBC saved them in their archives. Regardless, They Are Now A Piece of History!
    Just My Opinion...
P.S. Instead of putting a "Thumbs Down", just go
somewhere else on YouTube and listen to what you like!

    1.... ....

Don't worry, they are just from Australia.

    1.... ....

You have to understand that recording on tape is probably the closest you will get to them playing live. Tape is still mostly prefered over digital by artists that care.

My guess is that this is poorly transfered or a copy of a copy. I would be suprised if the BBC would ever lose master tapes from the Beatles.

  8. J.... S....

Berry was John main influence...I was lucky enough to berry play at a fair in 74

  9. C.... d....

    Vocal maravilhoso de John!

  10. T.... D....

John played the lead guitar in big part of the songs on the Saturday Club event, not George.

    T.... D....

    it is george playing lead

  11. G.... ....

Love the Beatles, but I think they didn’t do justice to this song... it’s slower, and John and George didn’t have the energy chuck had when he played and sang this song.

  12. M.... S....

    screaming internally right now

  13. A.... S....

Guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it

  14. G.... G....

    good morning Geroge

  15. N.... ....

Never knew they covered this... makes sense since they did all the other ones by Berry :o

    N.... ....

This version is actually the main influence upon the BTTF version played by Marty McFly. It was John who first came up with going, "Go, Johnny, GO-GO-GO!", just like Marty sings/mimes it in BTTF. In all earlier versions including Chuck Berry's original, the line just goes, "Go, Johnny, Go!", but Johnny Lennon goes and kicks it up a notch that way.

  16. C.... ....

Yet another song ruined by the Beatles.....

    C.... ....

I'm agrede with you Crakaboom, but I should saya that are exceptions like "Slow down" or " Some other guy".

    C.... ....

Why waste your time and energy commenting on music that doesn’t suit your taste? Because GTA brought you here? No, because it didn’t. Come back when you’re 64.

    C.... ....

    Ignore troll...listen to something else

    C.... ....

    @Gerald Vandendungen hahaha xD

    C.... ....

    @Crakaboom take a sleep

  17. S.... W....

    C.... Q....

Si es el gran cuarteto de liverpool tocando el tema del padre del rock

  19. l.... ....

george en la guitarra principal y john en la voz, simplemente perfecto.

  20. I.... J....

I know this isn't an original song by them.... but it's a song with my name in it by my favorite band!

    I.... J....

It's a Chuck Berry classic covered by many.

    I.... J....

@James Oike wrong it was done first by Marty Mcfly

    I.... J....

    @Graham Blue Good one!

  21. J.... J....

Pensaba que no existía ningún cover grabado de Johnny be good pero cuando revise Spotify ahí estaba el álbum de la bbc remasterizado me sorprendió mucho

  22. d.... ....

    George sang his heart out

    d.... ....

It's John, but you're right. It does sound like George. But I can still tell that it's John.

    d.... ....

George does sound an awful lot like john, though. If you dont know who's singing what, it can be hard sometimes.

    d.... ....

I think it was typical song sung by Keith around that time

    d.... ....

    Jeffrey ? 😜
