Beatles, The - Baby's In Black Lyrics

Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?

She thinks of him and so she dresses in black
And though he'll never come back, she's dressed in black
Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?

I think of her, but she thinks only of him
And though it's only a whim, she thinks of him
Oh how long will it take
Till she sees the mistake she has made?
Dear what can I do?
Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?

Oh how long it will take
Till she sees the mistake she has made?
Dear what can I do?
Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?

She thinks of him and so she dresses in black
And though he'll never come back, she's dressed in black
Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?

  1. R.... A....

    Beautiful song

  2. m.... ....

Heaven is John and Paul singing together!

  3. H.... D....

It's ironic because in the cover they are wearing black also! I bet during the making they were wearing black as well.

  4. F.... K....

From what I know this song is about astrid kirchherr and Stu

  5. S.... S....

    ʰᵐᵐ ⁱ ˡⁱᵏᵉ ᵍᵉᵒʳᵍᵉ'ˢ ONION

  6. Z.... T....

They're just doing a mind-boggling world tour. Come back to rest and knock this album off while resting. Simply unreal.

  7. M.... B....

Is this song about Queen Victoria?

  8. s.... n....

    Very… Everly (Brothers)?
But better. Especially with that beautiful breakout harmony at 0:49, 1:18.
    Terrific twanging from George.

  9. D.... t....

howl tf is this not in the boss baby movie

  10. H.... ....

When George's hair said "🧅", I felt that.

  11. t.... ....

    John seems flat

  12. G.... ....

How could there be 130 thumbs down for this song? The harmonies are superb. Unbelievable.

  13. S.... ....

Love Gog’s ice cream swirl hair 😊😊

  15. f.... ....

Has to be George's weirdest solo

  16. B.... R....

    La dama de negro

  17. G.... ....

This is the most underrated album.

  18. l.... f....

And all this came out when I was 13 to 19 years old ...I feel so lucky to have been me back then.

  19. c.... j....

Decent harmonies. This band will go far...

  20. N.... M....

never felt so identified to this song :(

  21. M.... G....

    🥰🥰🥰

  22. A.... Q....

I remember when this first came out! Loved it then and still now!

  23. I.... h....

Interestingly, in 100 years they will also be listened to.

  24. N.... M....

The piano is a century-old Bechstein Grand Piano and was bought by Trident Studios in the 1980s after renting it since the 1960s.

  25. L.... L....

This is garbage, as the say in Canada. I always use this song as the contrast when saying they went from songs like this to, well, you know their story.

  26. J.... L....

Wow, first person, second person, third person, back to first person...he, she, him, her...oh dear, ....what can I do?

  27. J.... ....

This is one of the best examples of The Beatles in harmony, the vocals at :50 are astonishing! Simply perfection, lightning in a bottle, or "beatle" or whatever. Just awesome!

  28. h.... d....

This song was with there tours the Beatles at Shea stadium watched this song with Beatles singing at the fans on tv

  29. J.... S....

This is very remeniscent of "The Beatles".

    😎

  30. d.... ....

McCartney really did some incredible high harmonies. And he did it all with no autotune.

  31. C.... L....

that high harmony on "oh, how long will it take" - spine-tingling stuff.

  32. E.... T....

0:50 ♫Oh! How long will it take 'til she sees the mistake she has made?...♫♫♫
Best part of the song, John in low vocals and Paul on high... great harmony blend.

  33. A.... C....

ringo is staring into my soul

  34. Z.... R....

The best!!!! Maybe is not...but every time tears in the eyes?!?! I don't know why????

  35. L.... U....

'Ringo', yet again cements the song with in this case, a wonderfully lush 6/8 swing.

  36. N.... O....

So underrated this song is so good

  37. S.... G....

Only the Beatles can create such marvelous harmony togheter, though i don't get the lyrics.. at all.. which makes it suck all together anyways. In my opinion after listening to strawberry fields and listening to this lyrics, The Rollings Stones are better in making music for SURE.

  38. S.... K....

    Пааайду
    Водки найдуу

  39. J.... C....

    - Vocals & Acoustic Guitar: John Lennon
    - Vocals & Bass: Paul McCartney
    - Electric Guitar: George Harrison

  40. K.... G....

George looks like a Hershey's kiss
    John looks like a Bear
    Ringo looks like Moe
and Paul looks like a beatle

  41. M.... G....

    Muito bom

  42. K.... S....

This was the song that made me love The Beatles.

  43. N.... R....

    😃💜🌹🍃🎼🌹🍃🎼🌹🍃🎼🌠🌠

  45. S.... C....

OMG, how good can songwriting and harmonies be? The Beatles were phenomenal. Wonderful.

  46. V.... ....

The way their voices sound together makes me want to cry for a reason

  47. P.... V....

Babys in black tell me how can I do,dressed in black sung by The Beatles

  48. L.... E....

    Sooo true 😍

  49. s.... s....

As a slow number still sounds good at ×0,75 speed

  50. R.... N....

I've said it before and I'll say it again-'The Everly Brothers on steroids.'

  51. O.... ....

R.I.P Stuart Sutcliffe. The song is about Astrid after Stuart's passing, for the mis-informed.

    O.... ....

That's what I was thinking... RIP Stu, John and George!

  52. g.... ....

    man, what great harmony !

  53. A.... K....

Now this one should’ve been a single!!! Amazing track

  54. G.... R....

I can’t stop looking at George’s hair without thinking “onion”

  58. B.... M....

This is the second song from Beatles For Sale with the magical moment in the middle eight, (the other is I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, with the line "I still love her". When Paul and John sing "Oh, how long will it take", it "makes me want to break down and cry", as someone else once said in a song.

    B.... M....

Blair McQuarrie my brother & I would harmonize to that exact piece my friend. Great memories. Arnold Bourbon Amaral

    B.... M....

    @Arnold Amaral Fantastic!!

    B.... M....

    Blair McQuarrie

    Yeah, It’s pretty amazing 👍👍

  59. P.... V....

The Beatles babys in black, what can I do?????

  60. O.... ....

Gideon Stargrave, the last man on Earth, never one for prayers, hums "Baby's in Black" and activates the bomb release..

  61. T.... ....

Most Beatles songs really sound nothing like all the others, yet they are all magnificent. Just the greatest band ever.

  62. M.... J....

    Look mommy i'm dancing!

  63. c.... p....

    Jammin song

  64. K.... ....

My dad used to sing this song to me when I was a little kid... Nostalgia :( this song is so underrated

  65. J.... B....

Damn!! ₩here did the lyrics go?

  66. J.... B....

    Addicted! Every day! My anthem.

  67. L.... J....

Who in 2019???? The beatles forever!!!loves this song...

    L.... J....

    Thanks!!!!

  68. R.... T....

Back then No One could put a harmony to any song like paul

  69. R.... T....

Who could ever match these voices and each, then combined harmonys hi paul , low john, only the everlys

  70. L.... G....

    Inconfundible estilo beatle

  71. s.... n....

I'm die hard Beatles fan. They have this powerful beat

  72. g.... l....

The lead melody seems to be John but is it so? Without his voice it just wouldn't be the same. Paul's high voice blends so well, the two seem to be one! Is this just clever harmony or simply natural? Thanks for the video.

  73. N.... ....

One of their worst albums. Still a damn good album though. If a regular band came up with this it would be their magnum opus.

    N.... ....

    Funny, isn't it?

    N.... ....

This album is nowhere near one of their worst.

    N.... ....

    13. Yellow Submarine
    12. Beatles For Sale
    11. With The Beatles
    10. Please Please Me
    9. Let It Be
    8. A Hard Day's Night
    7. Help!
    6. Magical Mystery Tour
    5. The Beatles
    4. Abbey Road
    3. Rubber Soul
    2. Revolver
    1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

    N.... ....

@Miguel Osvaldo Flores Dominguez - One guy's opinion: Sgt. Pepper is not their best album. Not even close. Fifth, maybe.

  74. I.... R....

I think of her, but she thinks only of him….

  75. P.... K....

George had such a great Rock-a-billy sound to his guitar work.

  76. D.... L....

Lennon was in love with Stuart's girl

  77. K.... ....

This album needs a new stereo remix. Compared to "A hard day's night, the sound quality is quite poor, specially in trebles.

  78. D.... A....

THE BEST BAND IS THE BEATLES

  79. s.... ....

Not sure if you will agree with me but this song is perhaps is the greatest Beatle song that illustrates the brilliance of Lennon and McCartney singing together. 0:50

  80. D.... W....

    Brilliant vocal blending

  81. R.... N....

    The Everly Brothers On Steroids.

    R.... N....

    hahahahahaha

  82. T.... ....

This should have 10 million views

  83. l.... ....

Lennon and McCartney could harmonize like no other.

  84. T.... K....

    Classic Lennon
Had say, the Hollies, written this it'd be their defining song but coming from John Lennon it is a 'rarity', overlooked and overrated. Overshadowed

  85. A.... R....

    Me mojo

  86. G.... ....

The great lost Beatles song: glorious harmonies and perfect melody and lyrics. It never got better.

  87. K.... P....

    ❤❤❤music masterpiece❤❤❤❤

  88. K.... ....

Well here's a bright idea: stop whinning and let her go

    K.... ....

John's dead so I don't think he'll ever read your comment.

  89. A.... T....

Best version of this song its actually the Live at Shea which is better than this album version
Where lennon mccartney voices sing in unison

    A.... T....

I think the live version from the concert from N.M.E is even better that shea

  90. F.... F....

Heavenly voices ... harmonies off the hook ... perfect blend 👌♥️👍🔥

    F.... F....

    Harmonies made in heaven....

  91. M.... ....

Man, I forgot how good The Beatles For Sale album is

  92. s.... ....

    No autotune shit here folks.

  93. S.... B....

I had Beatles 65 as a little kid, but this is the first time I've taken the time to figure out this song. Although Baby's in Black has just a few basic chords, as usual, the boys throw in a brilliant maneuver at the 50 second mark when they change the function of F# min from the vi minor to the ll minor (which goes to a B Major and then goes back to a D Major, switching back to the original key of A Major).

I know only musicians will get this, but it's just so cool how the Beatles built upon simple Rock and Roll and made it into something more sophisticated - even in the early days.

    S.... B....

thanks I was just wondering about it and why it sounds so fresh despite using similar chords and thought "somebody with some knowledge of music theory might explain it better".

    S.... B....

@Korn1holio BTW, if my little theoretical discourse sounds a bit confusing, don't fret (pun intended!!!). if you're really into learning the nuts and bolts of music, you'll get it eventually. Like anything else, it's just a matter of doing the work and then allowing a little time to go by to let it all sink in.

So, do the work but be patient with yourself. I say this because when I was learning as a teenager back in the 70's, I used to put tremendous pressure on myself beyond what is healthy and it gave me an inferiority complex and much stress. As I'm turning 60 in June, I'm just happy I can play at all at this point!!

    S.... B....

I'm a guitar player and that's over my head. Thanks for pointing out that bit of brilliance in a technical way. The Beatles didn't know that either, they just knew what sounded good.

  94. T.... M....

Kids, this is a Master Class in how to sing harmony. Listen and learn.

    T.... M....

"Kids" is so perfectly condescending. What do you mean by "kids?" Just people under 15? Or people who aren't as smart as you? Whatever the case, it says something about your attitude toward yourself.

    T.... M....

@vee kay Someone got up on the wrong side of the internet today. By your comment, you seem to be a practicing member of the new outrage class currently in vogue. No matter what a person says or posts, there's someone like you who instantly takes offense and feels compelled to point out for all to see just where and how you've been wronged. You sit behind an anonymous keyboard, clueless as to what my mindset was, my thought process, feelings emotions, intent, facial expression, or tone of voice. Yet you blithely assume you know exactly what I meant to convey and with what attitude and intent.

I feel sorry for you. I'm not offended by your inference, nor am I angry. I truly hope you can find some joy in your life and put aside the anger and resentment that appears to so freely bubble up and motivate you to fire off snarky rejoinders. Peace.

    T.... M....

@Tremolux Man Oh, for fuck's sake. And I'm the one who made assumptions about YOU? Sweet logic! I meant what I said. You can keep your pity for yourself. I don't need it, as I'm neither easily offended nor unhappy. The tone of your comment is condescending. It's ok if you think I'm wrong.

    T.... M....

    @vee kay=)

    T.... M....

I am a teen who just grew up as a Beatlomaniac and I listen to every Beatles song every day. I wish we could bring these gods back and forget all that shit autotune.
