You would have to admit that Paul McCartney resembles Jimmy (Page), especially when wearing a beard. I would not even be surprised if PM thinks he really is Jimmy, via copyright law. Is it me? Been listening to the Beatles for 45 plus years, and every time I hear a song, "All my Loving" for example, I swear I hear something in the song that I didn't notice before. Amazing.

So glad I was introduced to these guys growing up from my home that was always filled with music, and I'm proud to say as a grown woman, my grown son(30 yrs old) loves the Beatles too just as much. This band spans generations!

That's not John singing the Liverpudlian "Gairrl", it's George on top of John's voice.

I liked George's voice a lot. I think "Taxman" proved his worth to a lot of people.

God, I just love how the lead flourishes almost sound like they're half assed. Like the notes are being choked out of the neck of the guitar. I feel that it adds so much more to the song than if it was perfect.

The only bad Beatles song. Well this and Run For Your Life. A hefty accomplishment considering they made hundreds of songs. This why they are, and always will be, the best.

But both of these are actually good songs. What exactly makes you single out those songs instead of Christmas Time (Is Here Again), Wild Honey Pie or Revolution 9?

Back in those days radio stations wanted two minute songs or very close to it. They called the shots if you wanted airplay. Old FM stations that sprouted up allowed for longer and epic type songs...

You know, if you rearrange the songs of Help in a certain order you can probably make a really good romance musical or, just make a really good romance story with an extremely depressing ending. You’ll need to leave out Act Naturally and Dizzy Miss Lizzy though. But, all the other songs work great.

According to the liner notes I saw on the LP jacket, the lead guitar on this is Paul, not George, and it's incredibly hip, as is the harmonic structure of this tune, which goes in and out of two different keys, effortlessly, and seamlessly.
No other Rock band at that time in Music was writing songs like this.

Have heard or read this was Paul playing the lead guitar fills. Anyone know for certain? Amazing that Paul was more active in the studio with 6 string guitar than he gets credit for. Nice Lead Guitar work and tone from Paul

I always liked to think of that as George. I like to think of him playing loads of cool guitar stuff. But I keep finding out more and more of it was actually Paul. And (unrelated) apparently in Pink Floyd a lot of Roger's bass was actually Dave.

Paul really had it going on this album. They ALL did really. The Fab 4!!

Yeah this was where Paul caught up with John. John had the upper hand though on Rubber Soul though. But then Paul smashed it out of the park and broke on through to the other side on Revolver. (and they all did but especially Paul).

Anyone know what guitar McCartney or Harrison used to play the lead fills throughout Another Girl? Also, the tone sounds a little amped up with treble or some effect, not sure about it, but makes the song.

I think Jane Asher WAS the "another girl". In fact really, the song's not about anyone. He's being a badboy in the song, but it's *not real.* Jane and Paul didn't split up until late 1968. I think they got together in '64.

It's amazing that when I first heard this song, back in 1965 (I was 7) it all sounded like one big sounds (called "The Beatles.")

I couldn't pick out who was doing what (nor did I care). But now I can hear exactly who is doing what—it''s all so clear! And to remember how they used to mix records in those days—they only had four tracks—you'd sometimes find an entire voice in the left speaker!

But on re-listen some fifty three years later, this is a good track—they were ALL head, shoulders and a tall umbrella over the music made by ANY of their contemporaries, and even songs like this are masterpieces compared to the music done before or since.

And the best was still to come. In fact, the best had begun. I think from Help onwards, it was all the best. Until it finally ended in 1970.

I was 7 when A Hard Days Night was being payed to death at the lake where we were vacationing. i was in a fishing boat, and the song came on again and my Dad just said "A hard Days Night!" He heard it a lot on the way to work I think. I smile when I think of that. God, the Beatles were soooooo big, and it was much fun.
