Beach Boys - You Still Believe In Me Lyrics

I know perfectly well
I'm not where I should be
I've been very aware
You've been patient with me

Every time we break up
You bring back your love to me
And after all I've done to you
How can it be

You still believe in me

I try hard to be more
What you want me to be
But I can't help how I act
When you're not here with me

I try hard to be strong
But sometimes I fail myself
And after all I've promised you
So faithfully

You still believe in me

I wanna cry . . .

  4. R.... M....

speed 1.25 is also very cool

  5. R.... M....

My favourite track on Pet Sounds , though it has some stiff competition.

  6. J.... R....

If you've never cried while listening to Pet Sounds, you've actually never listened to the album.

    J.... R....

Nice to see a more recent comment. I'm a regular 😂

  7. J.... D....

My second favorite song, by anyone, ever.. only behind the song that precedes it on Pet Sounds - the greatest Pop album in history

  8. J.... M....

    RIP dad😌

  9. I.... K....

Best track in the album, incredible vocals At the beggining, and a beautiful chord progression

  10. M.... T....

Brian is well known for his masterful song intro's, this is another brilliant one.

  11. c.... ....

The Beach Boys' surf and car songs were fun and enjoyable, but it's stuff like this where the genius truly emerged.

  12. j.... 9....

The harmony at :44 at the end shows we see a psychedelic beach boys

  13. C.... B....

    another slowed track...

  14. e.... c....

Esta si es música, no como la de hoy.

  15. v.... ....

2:12 is the sound of the Doors of Perception opening.

  16. A.... ....

Se nota la influencia de rubber soul

  17. W.... ....

This encapsulates my relationship with Jesus so perfectly....

  18. C.... ....

My contribution every time our class performed something for a school event: 2:17

  19. I.... D....

I KNOW PERFECTLY WELL I'M NOT WHERE I SHOULD BEE

    Filmawka praejmuje ten filmik

  21. V.... O....

I try hard to be strong but sometimes I fail myself

  22. D.... H....

Who recorded angels and put them on an album?

  23. J.... S....

    1 second in 😪..
    Then 😊

  24. M.... ....

I just made my best friend cry by giving her one of my ear buds.

  25. J.... ....

I detest the line "I be more what you want me to be". My mentality is 'I am sorry if you do not like me, but I am not willing to change for you. I will be myself and I do not care if you do not like it.'

  26. B.... W....

    Favorite song on the album

  27. d.... ....

    Brian Wilson is God

  28. S.... J....

The work of a genius or of an angel ?

  29. D.... V....

    je passe par là

  30. D.... 3....

I am one day old and I love this kind of music

  31. C.... G....

    Masterpeice

  32. S.... I....

    God bless you, Brian.

  33. p.... ....

This is probably my all time favorite of theirs.

  34. t.... ....

Could there ever be a Pinnacle of...for Brian Wilson...this could be it for Me...A Sea Of Songs

  35. S.... O....

So sad, you can feel so much inspiration that went into this song and the album

  36. C.... T....

    The American Sgt Peppers.

    C.... T....

I'd say Sgt. Pepper's is the British Pet Sounds.

  37. C.... T....

I discovered this song thanks to my Pet Sounds vinyl.

  38. G.... S....

this album actually influenced Sgt Peppers.

  39. R.... J....

"MIND OPEN. COME INSIDE..." says Brian Wilson. One of his most beautiful and vulnerable songs. Only He could blend an absolutely stunning melody, divulge his soul to Us about Marilyn, layer in the Boys in 5 to 6 part harmony AND add a Bicycle Horn at the end! Oh and at 25 years old? Brian did this....

  40. .... ....

This is it. This proves pop music is ART

  41. E.... R....

Only someone completely speaking from the heart could sing this powerfully.

  42. M.... f....

I can smell a Spinto Band vibe !

  43. N.... M....

There is a slight difference between this and the mono version: The mono has a vocal double that was irretrievably lost, hence only the one lead vocal. (Source: Liner notes of 1996 remaster)

  44. N.... ....

i got hit by a car, busted up my mid section pretty well, wasnt sposed to walk or be active again....i spent a year stuck on the couch and through stubbornness, persistence, and the beach boys i am once again fit as a fiddle and runnin around like nothing ever happend, thank you brian wilson you god damned musical genius

  45. B.... M....

What's the melody at the end . The churches one or Celtic one. Folky melody they are using.

  46. C.... A....

I think most people can relate to the lyrics in this song. That moment when you remain mesmerized by the fact that "after all I've promised you, you still believe in me." I wanna cry.

  47. D.... K....

This song definitely has a spiritual feel to it- sounds like something u can hear at church. They did a great job of incorporating mike loves voice. One flaw of this song is that it’s too short!!! It should be at least 5-6 minutes.

    D.... K....

Heh,5-6 minutes? It should maybe like forever?

  48. a.... m....

It reminds me of Gregorian chant...

    a.... m....

adriano menegueli i agree. But a more interesting and hip gregorian chant.

  49. M.... D....

Tony Asher also played a huge part in Pet Sounds too.

  50. N.... M....

This whole album gets me to sleep so easy. It's perfect

  51. t.... ....

the best song off Pet Sounds since the last best one....privileged too hear Brian Wilson

  52. H.... t....

I have a playlist called "Nolan said he loved me" and it has songs that explain how I feel about being in love with my best friend and this song has made it to that playlist.

  53. F.... G....

Next to "Don't Talk" this is my second favorite song on the album.

  54. A.... M....

Written by: -Brian Wilson- _Mike Love_

  55. D.... C....

This beautiful song makes me cry every time I hear it.

    D.... C....

D Clark why cry? I dont think this song is meant to evoke those teary emotions... it has a happy sad feel to it. I think mariah carey’s hero is the kind of song that a greater chance to bring out a tear.

  56. M.... ....

This album is such a classic. It still shines in my life.

  57. S.... S....

    Amazing.

  58. J.... F....

For me one of the best album's in the history of rock, it's a very misunderstood album, but very beautiful to, great work from the beach boys, Brian Wilson is the MAN. You can die in this music

  59. R.... ....

    After “I wanna cry...”

I teared up, closed my eyes, laughed, and shook my head as I sunk into my pillow. So many emotions surrounded by sound, how can this music be? I smile, we smile.

    R.... ....

Absolutely breathtaking. The greatest surrender ever.

  60. T.... C....

In all sincerity, I think this is the most beautiful song ever written.

  61. R.... C....

This album is an extraordinary masterpiece. On of the best pieces of music ever made, I really don’t know how to describe how much I love this album, every night I listen to it in its entirety, it catapults me in an ethereal world of sweet melodies and wonderful lyrics. Thank you Brian.

  62. L.... ....

    happy birthday brian

  63. A.... D....

best use of bicycle bell in music

  64. S.... B....

    This album is eternally relevant

  65. b.... ....

Favourite Beach Boys song. (It's really really difficult to pick just one)

  66. S.... C....

U need headphones to to listen to pet sounds 😀

  67. G.... ....

    I can't speak...

  68. S.... ....

*I wanna cryyyy...whenever I listen to this song*

  69. M.... G....

I heard the BBs sing the PET SOUNDS album at Wembley Arena and was blown away big time. It was like listening to the original album being played.

  70. k.... ....

    quero chorar.

  71. m.... ....

My favorite Beach Boys song by a long shot

  72. G.... G....

a perfect song - i've been listening to it for more than 40 years - and now it moves me far more than in my youth

  73. G.... G....

una canción perfecta - la vengo escuchando desde hace más de 40 años

  74. E.... P....

    Perfection

  75. F.... D....

Brian es un genio de los mas genios!

  76. b.... j....

Beatles came close, but still couldn't touch this.

  77. S.... g....

I don't like this stereo remaster. The original is where it's at.

  78. d.... ....

    Timeless.

  79. D.... B....

the last chord of the chorus is pure fucking evil

  80. T.... U....

Even Paul Cries upon listening to Brian Wilson's music.
    https://youtu.be/LYR327oEdY8

  81. M.... N....

Reeally weird they chose *goats* to feed for the album cover, with Brian going through that headspace and being the genius behind this masterpiece. Just why goats...

    M.... N....

mclovin9151 The Boys didn't choose -- promotions people at The Tower did.

    M.... N....

    @Ponce de Leon

I can imagine why the capitol execs would want goats.

  82. S.... P....

Just bought today ' Pet Sounds' on Vinyl and CD. Got to say i still prefer the vinyl version.. Classic music, very nostalgic.. LOVE THE BEACH BOYS

  83. J.... 5....

This is the pinnacle romantic album, a bold epic of emotionality and a call for the place of empathy over reckless progression.

  84. A.... a....

    exelencia pura, magico

  85. b.... h....

    Brian Wilson is a genius

  86. m.... k....

I know Brian's voice and abilities have changed due to age and his health struggles...but Brian will always be Brian and I love him endlessly. I can't wait to see him in London in August--supposedly it will be his last performance. I adore this song, and have such love, respect, and admiration for Brian.

  87. T.... C....

    PERFECT !!! THANK YOU !!!

  88. Z.... A....

    hahahahhaa sounds like Animal Collective

  89. P.... S....

Do you think Bach, Mozart, Beethoven--Geez-Louise--Rachmaninov, would have appreciated and been absolutely impressed with this work of genius? I think they would have.

    P.... S....

    Surely they would

    P.... S....

I think the case could be made that Brian was a composer of American lieder.

  90. O.... ....

I JUST WANNA CRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY EVERYTIME I GET HATE1

  91. w.... ....

tops my list of the most beautiful tracks ever recorded. (like... #1)

  92. G.... ....

one of the most beatifuls songs ever wrote..

  93. J.... M....

Maybe the saddest song ever in a major key.

    J.... M....

Nope. Im Down by the Beatles got it beat.

    J.... M....

@Dr Fumesta I think they did it for the range of the vocals with the harmonies. Stupid key to play in, in my opinion lol.

    J.... M....

It was originally going to be a song about Brian’s childhood (hence the bike horns) but he changed the lyrics after the music was already recorded.

    J.... M....

You know.. I believe you are right! The saddest!

    J.... M....

it sounds like a Christmas song, sort of....

  94. l.... ....

One of the best song ever. Period.

  95. T.... ....

just how sweet is this song?

    T.... ....

TheReverantChoir Very, if you ask me. And I just heard it today! :) 😊

  96. M.... ....

It's so beautiful, but my dad always cracks up when the bicycle horn comes in haha

  97. E.... P....

    Perfection

  98. C.... F....

I just saw Brian Wilson last night perform the album live. Matt Jardine, Alan's son, handled the falsetto and nailed it on this song. Beautiful.

  99. j.... d....

The Beach Boys and the Beatles were liked by all of the kids.I should know I was 16 in 1965.Personally I prefer the Beatles. Both John Lennon and Paul Mc Cartney and George Harrison were song writers of distinction.I bought, starting with Rubber Soul, all of their album, including Sgt. Peppers 1967,shortly after it was released.

    j.... d....

But think about it. In 1966 Brian Wilson was all by himself competing and beating The Beatles collective. Of course he suffered a permanent mental breakdown as a result.

    j.... d....

You can go write that on the Beatles Video. We are paying respects to a Genius, not a group of 4 men that equal 1 Brian. The Beatles as one of my Favorite bands does not come close to this type of heartfelt type of music period.

    j.... d....

manco82 beating is a stretch. This album beat rubber soul but beach boys have nothin that compares to sgt pepper or abbey road
