Beach Boys - The Lords Prayer Lyrics

The Lord's prayer
Our Father,
Which art in heaven,
Hallowed be
Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth
As it is
In heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us
Our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not
Into temptation,
But deliver us
From evil.
For Thine
Is the kingdom,
And the power,
And the glory,
Forever...
Amen!
Amen!

  5. T.... ....

The best non-classical vocal arrangement of The Lord's Prayer I have ever heard. Brian Wilson is one of the best pop vocal arrangers ever!

  6. J.... F....

My wife and I are attempting to record this. She’s taking the top two parts and I’ll do the two bottom.

    J.... F....

No; he was out on the town committing adultery. Sorry; just a tasteless joke. I don't know for sure whether or not we hear his voice here or not.

  10. T.... b....

this arrangement is so complicated :P nice

  11. H.... C....

    Beautifully Done!

  12. P.... W....

A beautiful vocal arrangement, Brian. Simply splendid.

  13. P.... W....

A daring move by Brian to put a melody to The Lord's Prayer. Well, it was the '60s and grownups approved of this. Children were singing Christmas carols in public schools then.

    P.... W....

This arrangement is by Albert Hay Malotte and was written in 1935.

    P.... W....

Well, the melody. This particular vocal arrangement is by Brian.

    P.... W....

    The good ol days

  14. M.... M....

Wow , this is amazing. Imagine if they had been inspired to do a full Christian album. With their vocal talent. The Beatles could not even compare!

    M.... M....

    The did a CHRISTmas album.

  15. J.... E....

Brian Wilson sees the big picture and when he stops "quveching"(bitching ) he can compose more timeless songs.Hey, I'm Jewish and I love this musical Lord's Prayer.Brian's music is soulful and spiritual. I want to hear more compositions from him when he decides to learn to see the big picture, stay present to make the best of what G-d gives us ,become selfish to create beautiful music, and see the goal and to dumb to see the obstacles(AUTOMATIC).I train this in athletes .50th Reunion Phx great

  16. D.... C....

The Beach Boys deserve much more respect than they have gotten. They aren't all pop songs about sun, girls and surf. They are a legitimate group who at a time revolutionized music. Brian Wilson is a genius who is overshadowed by the clean pop image the rest of the group maintained. Only Beach Boys fans understand how great he is and they were.

    D.... C....

    Amen 󾓦

  17. S.... ....

    Wonderful!

clucaspik: I guess I'm the exception to the norm. Some of the early Beach Boys songs are great, such as "Don't Back Down", "Wendy" and "In My Room". And who can we really thank for such gems? Brian Wilson! His "God Only Knows" is a masterpiece that Paul McCartney wished he could have written. The Beach Boys were great. Brian Wilson was greater and no one writes songs like he did. "Til I Die" is another fine example. It's timeless.

  19. L.... D....

@clucaspik They're underrated because when people think of the greatest rock bands ever, they think of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Very few put The Beach Boys among them.

    L.... D....

thats because after David Marks left, they didn't do wild guitar solos

  20. c.... ....

@Kamisamadesu1 Brian studied intensely and mastered the jazz and altered harmonies of the Four Freshmen, and basically combined that with simple Chuck Berry-like songs to create something entirely new. But it just shows you that nothing we can create is totally original - it's based on something preexisting - but when a genius gets a hold of it, it morphs into something new - music history is full of this.

  21. c.... ....

@squarepeg85 they are usually considered to be America's greatest contribution to pop music. What's so underrated?

  22. s.... ....

Well said, jazzman3071. I agree wholeheartedly. The Wilson brothers and The Beach Boys are the most underrated, under-appreciated musicians in history.

    s.... ....

squarepeg85 History has put Brian on a pedestal (rightfully so) so all the other members didn’t get recognized. Mike not for his songwriting and wonderful baritone voice, Carl not for his amazing heavenly singing, and not Dennis for his well.. everything.

    s.... ....

    @Zach B Don't forget AJ.
