Great song!!! One of my favorites from the Boys!! And the album "Summer in paradise" has the best version ever of the song "Under the boardwalk".

I'd never heard this song until last week, listening to the "all Beach Boys" channel 4 on Sirius radio, it came on. It caught my ear, and I've listened to it a bunch of times since. Real good song. Perhaps my favorite Beach Boys song now.

A few problems with this album, but it's the horrible drums throughout that really wreck it for me

The album is a complete masterpiece, on par with Coltrane's "A love Supreme", "Dark Side of the Moon", Glenn Gould performing "the Goldberg Variations", or "Never Mind the Bullocks" by the Sex Pistols. Yes, I am practicing the fine art of sarcasm. It is doo-doo, complete paltry wanky doo-doo. I can't believe they can't blame this album on drug addiction or anything.

This isn't as gut-punchingly atrocious as I was lead to believe it would be. It's not GOOD, but it's better than Mike's solo album.

The Beach boys are like religion, a lot of people believe in God but can never agree on what kind of God they believe in. This song is brilliant/this song is shit. When this CD came out i loved it, then i read that it was shit!

I recently listened to almost all of the Beach Boys' catalogue. There are some REALLY REALLY REALLY bad/garbage songs. This ain't one of them.

The fact that some people actually compare this album to the masterpiece known as pet sounds is embarrassing. That's one way to sum up this album, embarrassing and a complete mess.

They messed this album up , when they redone it , I'm glad I got the original album, 10 times better, it's a great album

+Daniel Weston this version was sold months and months way back in England in OUR PRICE RECORDS and couldn't believe it when they came out with the second version, which is crap. I think someone in the band didn't like it, so they changed it. The second so called English version looks cheap, but the first version was a beautiful foldout cover , with a nice poster, which I had on my wall for months. I've been a Beach Boys fan for over 50 years now. Today I'm a Brian Wilson fan with new music and comes with a SMILE with some LOVE & MERCY. the beachboys are history trying to keep the summer alive 🏄🏻🌊🌞

If you gave it an unbiased listen, you may be pleasantly surprised.

This is the best song on the album, in my opinion, but I think the whole album is very good.  It has an overall tropical island feel to it which is what I feel the band wanted to accomplish.  Most lifelong Beach Boys fans don't like anything that Brian didn't write, dissing the rest of the band as no talents and that isn't true or fair.  This album shows that the Boys could still do a beachy vibe in a grown up way and it works.

LOVED when this album came out. I saw them play most the songs in concert in Syracuse that yr at the Fair and also another concert that yr but aft that, not a lot of these songs were out there. I do own the cassette and now the cd. I LOVE it. also the cover. this has to be my fav song on it, prob because I used to (before that) live in Lahaina now living on Maui, wishing they would re-release this one.

The production ruins an otherwise decent song. That goes for most of this whole album, and Brian's Imagination as well.

I did not know much about this album! I heard a lot of bad things about it, but having heard most of it now I don't understand why its had such a rough ride over the years! I think its a great beach boys album and the guys did a great job!

A very underrated album . Some great tracks on this album despite the absence of Brian. This is one of my all time favourite songs. If not my number one . I love the lyrics and music.

Grew up listening to THE BEACH BOYS! They are always and will forever be "America's Band" I absolutely love this album... Long lost and unknown tracks, but PHENOMENAL!

To me this album shows how badly the beach boys needed Brian. I like the songs I just think that with Brian's writing, arranging and producing was missed.

Just picked up the CD on Ebay; mainly for this tune. Just love it. : )

The more time that passes the more I miss Carl Wilson. I often think about how Tom Petty talked about Carl's incredible voice... A combination amazement, appreciation, and envy! I love reading people's comments about Carl. Also appreciate John Hunter Phillips music and his committment to the Beach Boys... Hope JHP is enjoying life in Hawaii....

Good stuff, but don't tell us it's one of their greatest hits! It was not even released as a single and the album's sales were very poor

@BeachBoysGuy1 There are so many songs that I feel Carl's voice is the best... thiis is clearly one of the very best....beautiful song about a beautiful town. To me this song belongs with Somewhere near Japan, and Sloop John B as a sort of trilogy of related songs... does that make sense to you?

This and Somewhere near Japan are their best songs by far! How they dont get played on radio is a guess to me.

If this ends up being the last studio lp by these guys, then that's kind of sad...they need one more great one w/ Brian Wilson.

OK. I know Brian was out of the scene here but even so this album was a great performance by the Beach Boys . This song here 'Lahaina Aloha' is definitely one of my favourite songs .. EVER! Sheer excellence ..

Carl's voice in as smooth and sweet as honey.

Island Fever was always my favourite track on this album, but I'm coming to appreciate this one more. The chorus really lifts it, with the harmonies, the "bye bye", the accordion; it could have been intensely cheesy, but it's lovely.

I love this song so much. I included a cover of it, with all harmonies plus so additional ones, on my " Diamonds On The Beach" now living in Hawaii has given it more meaning, but Carl's beautiful singing is what hooked me on this. John Hunter Phillips

I covered this song on my Cd, "Diamonds On the Beach" by John Hunter Phillips.
I love this BB song and the entire CD, although many did not. Car's voice was spot-on, as always. The production was crystl clear and the songs catchy.

I actually enjoyed this LP. Even SUMER OF LOVE is great if you like the vision of a creepy old man masturbating to pics of young ladies. This song is a great give and take between Mike and Carl and has great harmonies... Woulda Coulda Shulda been a single.
