For as devoted a B.B. fan that I thought I am, I admit to not having followed the latest part of the evolution involving the 2012 album release. Two days ago I heard this song for the first time on Sirius and it grabbed my attention in a big way. Since then, I’ve come here too many times to count to listen to it. The song coupled with the video clips, as was said scrolling down, is putting goosebumps on my skin and tears well in my eyes as I listen to Al’s voice, read the lyrics and my mind drifts off to thoughts of my life along with this timeless band and what their music has given me for so many years. My God, this song is absolutely beautiful. I’m ordering the CD tonight too. Thank you posting this, thank you Al for your voice, thank you Brian...just thank you all and RIP Dennis and Carl.

I return to this so often and have shared it so many times...it is easily one of my favorite videos on Youtube..I was SO happy to find it at the time as I had just taken my daughter to see the Celebration 50 concert and loved the new album, and I think at that time most of the album was not available to share on here yet, so being able to share this with people was a treat...thank you for making this, this song deserved to be heard so much more and your footage is perfectly matched, beautiful, and heartbreaking all at once. I especially love the ending. :) I'm so glad this video has stayed up all these years and I hope it always does.

They deserve much more tribute, they were the Best group in my opinion to ever walk this earth, the only thing missing from this song is Carl and Dennis, but what we have is still great.

I don't know what's going on with the first "With me" is it a bad edit?  I can't believe it would be so sloppy, Is he saying within me?  It sounds like "with-ith me"  Only thing that bugs me on a great album.  Well...Mike's songs...

I agree. I think it's maybe just a bit of slightly dodgy double-tracking, also making 'with' last over two syllables is a bit unnatural to sing I suppose.

I've listened to the song dozens and dozens of times and have never even noticed it before you mentioned it here. So I listened intently to it again. I think your point here is really without content. It is what it is, at worst -an idiosyncrasy in phrasing that lends a human quality to a very well produced digital product. I sincerely appreciate that.

Such a good song! And what an appropriate video! I love the 1967/68 era. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall everywhere Brian went.

Notice in the boat scene, Al's jacket is the same from the 20/20 album cover. And Brian's multicolored shirt was worn in a particular Smile session photo or two.

On the record I guess Al´s voice is "processed" but I heard him sing live last year and he has still got a great voice. The best one in the band I think.

This seriously just might be the best fan made video on YouTube. This should have been the official promo video for the song. I love how in the footage near the end, the younger Beach Boys are playing what appears to be the exact same beat. The contrast between the young group "playing" along with the modern day beach boys song is quite an emotional moment.It's kind of subtle, if you're not paying attention. But nice and clever touch.

I agree with all the comments - an absolute stunner of a song! Shows what these guys are capable of even today. It puts me in another world every time I hear it. Great vocal, Al Jardine! We loved the 50th anniversary show too!

That was from a concert in Hawaii in 1967 that Bruce couldn't make it to so Brian was asked to fill in but Carl and Al ended up swapping back and forth on the bass while Brian played the organ.

Hey Dominic, this is BurFamily823. I'm afraid you were mistaken about your recent comment. The video from 0:23, where brian is playing the white organ, is not when they are in Europe in 1968. That footage looks like 1966 or 67. Could you tell where the video was from? If so, THAT WOULD BE GREAT! Thank you!

@jaywhofan boy am I with you on the unbelievability of the greatness of this new Beach Boys song. The only single part of this whole song that doesn't sit quite right with me is that "pacific coast getaway" part, sounds a little cheesy to me, kinda like something you might hear in a TV commercial. Outside of that, my mind was just blown..

Al Jardine's finest moment as a Beach Boy, autotune be damned. This song boggles my mind every time I hear it. Frankly, considering everything that this group has been through...there is no logical reason why a Beach Boys song in the year 2012 should be this good. I can only conclude that somehow Dennis and Carl were there, and a little bit of magic happened.
