Beach Boys - Feel Flows Lyrics

Unfolding enveloping missiles of soul
Recall senses sadly
Mirage like soft blue like lanterns below
To light the way gladly
Whether whistling heaven's clouds disappear
Where the wind withers memory
Whether whiteness whisks soft shadows away
Feel flows (White hot glistening shadowy flows)
Feel goes (Black hot glistening shadowy flows)

Unbending never ending tablets of time
Record all the yearning
Unfearing all appearing message divine
Eases the burning
Whether willing witness waits at my mind
Whether hope dampens memory
Whether wondrous will stands tall at my side
Feel flows (White hot glistening shadowy flows)
Feel goes (Black hot glistening shadowy flows)

Encasing all embracing wreath of repose
Engulfs all the senses
Imposing, unclosing thoughts that compose
Retire the fences
Whether wholly heartened life fades away
Whether harps heal the memory
Whether wholly heartened life fades away
Whether wondrous will stands tall at my side
Whether whiteness whisks soft shadows away
Feel goes (White hot glistening shadowy flows)
Feel flows (Black hot glistening shadowy flows)
Feel goes (White hot glistening shadowy flows)
Feelings to grow (White hot glistening shadowy flows)

White hot glistening shadowy flows
White hot glistening shadowy flows
White hot glistening shadowy flows

Carl's efforts in this album are the best of it for me. I wish there were at least two Dennis' songs tho

  3. D.... G....

    Amazing song!
Someone listening to this at the end of 2019?

  4. B.... B....

    Carl Wilson at his best!!

  5. R.... C....

This is one of the only positive, happy-sounding songs on the album

  6. t.... ....

When I first heard this it blew my mind. I think it's just as great as good vibrations, also it's super experimental

  7. T.... Q....

What's with the abnormally high dislike ratio?

    T.... Q....

always wondered this with the auto-generated videos. you can see it with most bands too. very strange

    T.... Q....

    Twitter eggheads

  8. c.... ....

Great stuff! Amazingly, I'd never heard it before.

  9. j.... m....

Believe it or not, this beautiful song was written about ejaculation ("white hot glistening shadowy flow"). Discuss....

    j.... m....

    No, really?!

    j.... m....

joy man: I think you're full of shit.

  10. F.... ....

1967 to 1973 was their best period.

    F.... ....

    M A S S I V E L Y agree !

  11. J.... Q....

Paddle out past the break; it's so quiet out there.

  12. R.... L....

    Almost Famous! 🙌

  13. B.... B....

Carl was the soul of The Beach Boys.

    B.... B....

THE BEACH BOYS Brian was the Heart. Dennis was the Spirit.

  14. I.... ....

This is the greatest song ever written and performed, period. God Only Knows is a close second though.

  15. F.... ....

    101 Retards

    F.... ....

the politically correct term in musically inept... but i like retards better

  16. A.... S....

The song played at the end of the the movie Almost Famous while credits rolled. Perfect placement for this song. Just beautiful.

    A.... S....

The movie had a great movie score. The Big Chill did as well

  17. L.... D....

    So beautiful

  18. f.... ....

I got to see them play this live in '77. No echo but still beautiful, ethereal.

  19. s.... d....

    nice to hear carl shred

  20. s.... d....

best guitar work from carl on any beach boys song

  21. L.... T....

The Best song of Carl Wilson, He's disguised of brian!

    L.... T....

Not really suprising, as Brian is all over this track. His vocals can be heard the chorus (mixed with Carl, Marilyn Rovell (Brian's Ex-wife), and Bruce) and during the flute solo, you can faintly hear him holding a long note (sounds like he's singing eh). He also contributes the Baldwin Organ, the moog synths, and the piano.

  22. M.... M....

Carl fuzz guitar on this song is awesome. I’d like to make a song like this.

  23. A.... W....

Carl was simply awesome!!! Miss you dude!

    A.... W....

Always in the background, and the leader when Brian retreated. Must read: "Long Promised Road" by Kent Crowley !!!

  24. V.... ....

    That dislike bar wtf

    V.... ....

    You're right wtf

    V.... ....

Bad algorithm maybe? "You enjoyed 'American Badass' by 'Kid Rock' you may enjoy this"

    V.... ....

    That dislike button wtf

    V.... ....

    waterglass21 yeh 😂.

(PS): There's an alternate lyrical ending, actually printed in the CD booklet. There after ''Whether harps heal the memory''
Whether heaven's hopes will never return,
Whether surface joy will ever be found,
Doesn't matter if it's ever around,

and then it proceeds like normal.

    G.... ....

Any idea of what he is singing about? Love the song but the lyrics have always been somewhat of a mystery.

    G.... ....

@James Haberkamp Carl was born in '46 like myself. We all were Hippies of the psychedelic era. He wrote this song in '69 at the height of the era. It's a beautiful piece to trip by typical of that period. Brings on good feelings whether your "on" at the time or not it takes you away. Listen to the Pet Sounds album #2 most popular album of all time and Sgt. Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band by the Beatles which is #1 you may get the drift , best way I can explain it. I have a nice flashback every time I listen to those Psychedelic songs and music it's real cool.

    G.... ....

Umm, Feel Flows was released in 1971, do you have any source for it being written two years earlier? 'Cause I can't find one for that.
Also, how are Pet Sounds and Magical Mystery Tour the two most popular albums of all time? Pet Sounds barely cracked the Top 10 at the time, and MMT isn't even among the ten best-selling (studio) albums by The Beatles.

    G.... ....

@James Haberkamp Yeah same. I do think it's about spiritual freedom. In the footnotes of the booklet for this album Brian compares this to "A day in the life of a tree". He says sth like "aditloat has a nice religious/hymn feeling but the lyrics aren't that deep. But this one by Carl he really loves. He feels like his little brother has finally matured in a way he can be proud of, in a spiritual/philosophical way. It's about coming of age and realizing a lot of things and coming together with oneself." Might find the actual phrase later and then post it here.

  26. Z.... B....

Pet Sounds, Wild Honey, Friends, 20/20, Sunflower, Surf’s Up, Carl & The Passions “So Tough” and Holland.

    Z.... B....

    dont forget love you

    Z.... B....

    And Smiley Smile.

    Z.... B....

@kip kippers True, but it seems to me like he wanted to point out the long streak of incredible albums they put out between 1966 and 1973, and he forgot one there. Today! is a great album, but between Today! and Pet Sounds, there are two albums, one of which (Party) is kind of a stinker.

    Z.... B....

@Spos Kanal love the today album. one of my favorite BB songs, she knows me too well on it.Brian's lead vocal is beautiful.

  27. P.... R....

The first 5 songs suck. Disappointed .

    P.... R....

You sure about that? Even Long Promised Road and Disney Girls?

  28. E.... R....

the only beach boy's album worth listening to. All the best songs.

    E.... R....

@Norfolk Enchants ah. Thanks for the reply. For me, The Beach Boys we're mostly Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson and Dennis. And Al on occasion. It's pretty obvious that most Beach Boys fans can't stand Mike Love, Me included.
What I loved about the Beach Boys, was never the car songs. It was always Brian's falsetto, his complex harmonies, his experimental nature, and his childlike innocence wrapped in the body of an adult man. So when I hear things like take a load off your feet, it seems a little too goofy for me, not that I hate it, but it's just that I love the seriousness of the Beach Boys.
The night is so young is definitely a great song, and I feel that's one of the songs that I can relate to on that record. when I hear Mona, it makes me think that they wanted to go back to their early surf music style, but make it more 50s doo-wop. I thought the songs on love you just weren't is complex and well written ss their other records. Maybe I'm too serious, because I think love you is very playful and goofy, and maybe I just need to relax a little bit and try to enjoy it and not expect another smile or Pet Sounds. I have everything The Beach Boys have ever done, including the box set and all the other compilations of rare tracks, but the only things that I do not have are m i u and LA Light. Any thoughts on those records? I assume they are garbage, because that's what everybody has ever told me. anything after those records were pretty much Brian Wilson-less, so I could really care less about anything after that.

    E.... R....

@Dad Jacobs I bought MIU and the Light Album on CD years ago and gave both of them a single listen & haven't been back since. They were awful. When it comes to Mike, you really have to separate the man from the music. He was always important to that gorgeous vocal blend & the punch and relatability of his lyrics really helped propell the band towards early commercial success. He seems a fairly odious person though & I know why a lot of fans can't see past the vulgarity of the man. Have you heard all the Unsurpassed Masters bootlegs? You get a real glimpse into those unreal vocal arrangements, often with Brian's falsetto front and center.

    E.... R....

@Norfolk Enchants no, I have not heard that. Where can I hear that? I would love to listen to it.
And yes, you are probably right, Mike love certainly has talented good qualities, but he's such an evil man. He just wants to play music to 70 year olds and sing songs about cars and that's it. All he cared about was having people pay attention to him, it's as if he was some sort of narcissist.
But yes, he was able to write good lyrics in the beginning, before Van Dyke obviously.
And regarding the LA album and MIU, I have heard the singles on those records, because they were in part of the Good Vibrations box set, and I did enjoy those songs, but I'm going to assume the rest of the songs on those records are garbage yes?

    E.... R....

    Shut Down Volume 2.

    E.... R....

SUNFLOWER is slightly better but this is a very close second.
