Bayside - Walk It Off Lyrics
I spent my younger years in shame
Just a little boy
Taught that the world was all a sport
Hey kid, you'll see!
Fight hard and stay the course
I guess they made a man of me
Don't write it off, don't forget about
What led you here like it didn't count
I learnt to walk by falling first
I'm still the kid covered in dirt
We are as we are taught
Shake it off and shut your mouth
Go walk it off, go walk it off
You're not a man, go walk it off
Go walk it off
We are as we are taught
The war was hard but I was brave
Answering the call
Please heal my wounds and keep me safe
At night I'd sort my feelings out
Some things you just don't talk about
At ten that's an awful place to be
Don't write if off, don't forget about
What led you hear like it didn't count
I learnt to walk by falling first
I'm still the kid covered in dirt
We are as we are taught
Shake it off and shut your mouth
Suck it up, make father proud
Go walk it off, go walk it off
You're not a man, go walk it off
Go walk it off
We are as we are taught
Now I know it wasn't me
Now I know it wasn't me
And I think I'm finally good enough
For any normal purposes
Is that all I'll ever be
Now I know it wasn't me
Now I know it wasn't me
And I think I'm finally good enough
For any normal purposes
Is that all I'll ever be
We are as we are taught
Shake it off and shut your mouth
Suck it up, make father proud
Go walk it off, go walk it off
You're not a man, go walk it off
Go walk it off
We are as we are taught
We are as we are taught
We are as we are taught

Bayside Walk It Off Comments
Song about toxic masculinity that ironically describes my childhood. Bayside rocks
bayside delivering once again, not surprised.
I taught myself how to ride a bike by climbing up a ladder and launching off from there. Fell a lot but I could also stand with one foot in the handlebar and one foot on the seat by the time I was done with “bmx”.
This song is deep.
The bass.. the guitar.. the drums.. the vocals. It's all perfect.
Nice 👍🏽
This band is amazing.
Take it this way, everytime I play this song I play it at least 4 times before listening to the rest of the album and ive listened to it everyday since it came out. this is also one of my favourites.

Family is a hard thing to put into words and to be brutally honest and positive about it..This song hits home for me as well.
Thank you for this gem Anthony, this one hits home and i feel like it was written about my life, your the best and thank you for this new album
Hell yes
What´s the Song about ?
You can tell theres a lack of creativity when you repeat the title of the song 5 times in a row, on multiple tracks. "Walk it off oh walking off I walk it off, WAAAAA HOOOOO walk it offfffff" come on Anthony.
Let's here the song you made dipkiss
@Daniel Esslinger probably too technical for your ears :/ sorry
The last 3 Records sucked.
I agree that some of the lyrics could be lacking in this album, with this song bring a good example. From my perspective their album focus was on the musical talents of the other band members.
When I hear him repeating the phrase walk it off and looking at how this song was written from the perspective of a young man growing up hearing these words over and over I think that Anthony is bringing back some of the feelings of not being good enough in the eyes of their father. I think that the repetition drives home the point and causes the listener to reflect, but of course not everyone is going to appreciate it at face value.
I'm walking right now and hearing this tasty jam
