Bassey, Shirley - What About Today? Lyrics

The tears I'm shedding now
I hear will dry in time
The fears I'm fearing now

I hear will die in time
But while I wait around for tomorrow
Watching life drift away

What about, yes, what about Today?
I know if I just wait
The sun will shine some day
And when it does

The weather will be fine someday
And while the skies I search for tomorrow
Stay that same shade of gray

What about, yes, what about today?
Till nirvana comes
What about today?
Till messiah comes

What about today?
Till the mountains move
And oceans part and angels sing
And life can start

What about, yes what about Today?
I can't help wondering
If tomorrow ever comes
And what's my life been lived for

If it never comes
I've heard a lot of toasts to tomorrow
But none of them ever say
What about today?
What about today?

Till nirvana comes
What about today?
Till Messiah comes

What about today?
Till the mountains move
And oceans part and angels sing
And life can start

What about, yes what about today?
I can't help wondering
If tomorrow ever comes
And what's my life been lived for

If it never comes
I've heard a lot of toasts to tomorrow
But none of them ever say
What about today? What about today?
What about, yes, what about today?

Shirley looks sooo beautiful!Fantastic dress!....Voice of my life!

Don't think I have ever seen an audience looking so bored .....A truly great song but not exactly right for the programme even if it was in the hit parade ... hardly a dance tune  which is what the audience is there for ....I wonder if they got their money back

    Pierre

I think it was that time. When ABBA won the swedish melodi grand prix 1974 the audience looked excactly like this. Like they did in every show on television when there was an adult audience. It was probably the same in Australia.

    Ross Clark

Halcyondaze121 id like to think that her performance wasn't really one you'd look to dance to. often her music has been to be taken in in awe. lol

    PJ Hanna

I believe that was from Roger Whitaker's show. The audience may have been cued to stay quiet and give applause at the end. Every TV show I've ever know of that has been filmed/ aired, the audience is told when to applause and when to be quiet. They solicit from the audience what they want to be seen. Also, things were different in the '70's, so the producers were different from what they are today.
