Rod Mckuen should issue an apology for saying he wrote this song. He translated it and changed a few words. How can people lie so blatantly? No respect for him ever.

Shirley had the magic...she and Dusty Springfield, Pet Clark and Sandy Shaw. The mid sixties were amazing and no one not there as a youth would NEVER understand how great those times were. I cry for those who never experienced those days and magical nights.

@good lookin' She is very good, Angelina is. I guess I like Shirley's version a bit better. Her voice could blow the glass out of a window it's so powerful, and so much a part of the sixties. When I hear "Goldfinger" it takes me exactly back to that year when the world was pretty rosy. But Angelina has a big career ahead of her.

Beside, I just repair my window...glass is expensive to be broken. Angelina's raspy velvet voice just seizes a person's heart and never lets it go.

@Sheri Taylor It is far from being the first time i hear the English version of this song ! i heard it in the 80' but almost forgot about it until last week .Also Nina Simone sings it in french ,I have to say the Italian version by Dalida is beautiful ,yes the lyrics is sad , i would believe it is in all languages !

I loved all those Bassey songs in The Politician. And Jessica Lange was the perfect actress for that role. Lots of good music in the whole show, but Shirley Bassey was the best. I have been a fan of hers forever (saw her in Carnegie Hall decades ago but will always remember it even sitting up in the gods!).
