Barbra Streisand - You Don't Bring Me Flowers (Solo Version) Lyrics

You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When you come through that door at the end of the day...
I remember when you couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after loving me late at night
When it's good for you
And you're feeling all right
Well, you just roll over and turn out the light
And you don't bring me flowers anymore
It used to be so natural to talk about forever
But used-to-be's don't count anymore
They just lay on the floor, till we sweep them away
And baby I remember all the things you taught me
I learned how to laugh and I learned how to cry
Well, I learned how to love I even learned how to lie
So you'd think I could learn how to tell you goodbye
'Cause you don't say you need me
You don't sing me love songs
You don't bring me flowers anymore...

As I sat here listening to this magnificent song I thought of a different take on it,instead of being about a break up what if it's about a lover/spouse that has died. And it's time to let go.

Personne n'arrivera jamais à sa cheville, en tant que chanteuse, surtout interprète, désolée, Céline Dio, n'est qu'"une "voix".

So who needs Neil Diamond anyway...

    Floyd T

+Micah Kayslinowski Since he wrote the song, I kind of think he was needed in the process. But thanks for playing.

    Snarky Enigma

+Floyd T So what; Burt Bacharach wrote Say A Little Prayer ... does he NEED to sing it with Aretha?

I didn't know this solo version until last night when I heard it on the local airwaves. I loved it, with respect to neil diamond who she collaborated to co-write it is way way better done duet.

  48. greateststarbyfar

  49. Snarky Enigma

This lush solo version brings such a completely different feel to the schmaltzy duet with Diamond. It's an entirely different song.

  50. rioboy13

    I agree!

  51. Larr

Everyone talks about Barbra Streisand's tone, the one that inspired all those comparisons to the world's smoothest condiment. They also speak of her range, which mirrors the distance between the depths of the Grand Canyon and the peaks of Everest. Her lung power invites equal comment; Small wonder since, at full bore, it can flatten a town.

  52. Chris Mulwee

Well, if you like this solo version, check out Neil Diamond's solo version. Neil, recorded it first, then Barbra covered it.

Little did they have any idea that they would eventually record it together and have a number one smash

  53. Larr

Barbra Streisand is the First Artist With #1 Albums in 5 Consecutive Decades...

  54. rslitman

I remember the first time I saw this album in a store. I picked it up and looked at it because I wondered if there was a song called "Songbird" on it and if so, if it was the same song done by Fleetwood Mac (Christine McVie on lead vocal). Well, it turned out to not be the same song, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this song listed. I knew it was a Neil Diamond song, and I have always loved learning of versions of his song done by others.

  55. Chris Mulwee

Right on. Both Streisand and Neil Diamond had recorded solo versions of the song prior to the hit making duo.
A DJ spliced the two versions together because both versions had the same arrangement. It was so well received that it was suggested that they record it together. This song has an interesting background.

  56. UnLoKoDesnudo

I always preferred this solo version.

  57. Floppy sunhat

Her solo version of this song is just beautiful. Perfect pitch! She interprets the Bergman's lyrics better than any other singers in the world!
