Back in 1973 the movie The "Way We Where" was released. I kept hearing the girls in my classes in high school rave about it and share there thoughts. They kept mentioning "Barbra Streisand" and her singing etc. I thought to myself who is this actress they keep talking about. I decided to go see the movie and that's when i fell in love with Barbra. I just felt every emotion she conveyed through her singing and began to follow her through the years. Her music gave me hope and inspiration for a better Life, Love and Happiness. Her music got me through my 6 long years in the military and after.
I realized how Barbra impacted the LGBTQ community and how so many felt the same as i did about Barbra. A beautiful being that she is inside and out! Thank You BABS!

Wtf are talking about?

Back in the 70’s when I was a poor black kid living in the inner city projects of Houston Texas. My life was hell. I was bullied terribly by those around me and was a miserable child who seriously considered suicide as a way out of the pain and hopelessness I had to endure back then. I happened to catch the movie Funny Girl on tv one evening. I was absolutely blown away by Barbra. I had never seen anyone who looked and sounded like her before. After that I would save every cent I could get and bought her records or checked them out at the library. I would spend hours alone in my room listening to her music. She brought something beautiful to my drab and gray existence back then and gave me hope for something better in life. For that I shall forever be grateful. Many years later she is still a big part of my life. And I still love her madly.

I had a very similar experience. I had an abusive alcoholic father and I found Barbra through A Star is Born. She was a bright light in a very dark childhood. I listened to her for hours alone in my room and escaped into a fantasy world and the sound of her glorious voice. She just took me away.

Directed by a Hollywood legend, Willie Wyler, who has a very unique record. 3 of his actors won Oscars in their very first movies, Harold Russell, Best Years Of Our Lives-, Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and Barbra in Funny Girl.

I's a beautiful song, beautifully done, by a beautiful and talented lady. But I think the writers got the song a little wrong, a little bit backwards somehow. It's not people who need people who are the luckiest, but people who are needed and in are in demand by other people, who are really the luckiest. Think about it. If you are a loner, don't want people around you all the time and are happy that way, then the world is fine as far as you're concerned, and you don't care what anybody thinks about it. But if you absolutely need other people to be whole, but they don't reciprocate, just don't like you or don't want anything to do with you at all, and in spite of your best efforts, always find yourself on the outside looking in, it can make for one unhappy, lonely, angry and frustrated life.

Same sentiment. When I was growing up, my circle of friends actually had two circles, the inner and outer. I was always in the outer rim. I felt lost and sad. But then as I grew older, I begun to detach myself from the 2-rim circles, learning to differentiate between close friends from distant ones. I became happier. I only need a few well-selected friends to be happy. I am also content being alone for long periods of time and doing things that give meaning to my life. Then too, I have learned to enjoy giving my time to listen to a neighbor or an acquaintance when I can sense he or she needs someone to listen to him or her. God handles my itinerary for the day. Alone or with company, I am complete.

The hardest part about acting in musicals is standing there looking nonchalant while some lunatic starts singing at the top of their lungs to nobody in particular and you're just waiting til they're done.

I often wonder what it would be like if life were a musical! No time for war or hate because everyone would be singing, and people would be more fit from dancing! Plus, it would be freaking fantastic and fun!

You do a number of takes when you film so it’s almost always playback. Unless the director is going for something else in a particular scene

I've loved Barbra for over 50 years. Went to her concert in Hyde Park, London this year. Even though she is into her 70's she still sings so beautifully. Just think she is wonderful.
