@James W mmmm i can see your point, I was scared about III being the continuation of the previous two (The Altar was very similar to Goddess except for a couple of more upbeat songs) but it surprised me. The lyrics are more explicit, less "i have to make an impression with my writing", I'm a big Bon Iver and Imogen Heap fan so for BANKS to commit to vocoder, layering, distortion on the production was very much appreciated, she seemed curious about those possibilities on the previous records but here she went in for the kill. It almost doesn't have filler songs, I'll definitely get rid of If We Were Made Of Water (cool idea, bad delivery) and Propaganda, but that's just my taste. I don't think it's the most revolutionary album, but she stepped out of her comfort zone a lot, while still sounding true to herself. Sure Contaminated, Godless and Stroke could be on The Altar and no one would notice, but Hawaiian Mazes, Sawzall, Till Now, Alaska... damn, what a journey with those ones. Try to listen to it on a nice speaker instead of headphones, don't try too hard and I'm sure you will love it as much. Have a nice day James! ♥
