This song is about the memorial held at the echoplex in LA for musician Asa Ferry who had recently passed away. Devendra was on stage performing the song "middle names", also about Asa Ferry, in tribute to him.

He was unable to finish the song due to heavy emotions. Still, His performance was one of the most honest, pure , and beautiful things I've ever seen from a musician.

After the song, a young man proposed to his girlfriend on stage. It was a beautiful night.

I might be missing the point, but this is far too close to Leonard Cohen. An intentional and open tribute?

Leonard cohen should definitely be credited for this song. At first I thought it was a cover but with diferent lyrics of "one of us can not be wrong". Same chord line and same melody.

Stil a great fan of Devandra's work anyway, and this beautiful song wherever the inspiration comes, is defenitely his.

i discovered Devendra in 2004, saw him on a jools show wearing that red hood and singing a sight to behold. I absolutely loved it then forgot to look who the singer was and i thought abt him for years, unable to find out on the interet who he was - until one of the photographers i was long following on flickr, moved to USA and started dating... him and so is how i finally found out his name after she posted a pic of him with his name under, after all this years trrying to listen to his pretty songs!
