Band, The - Jupiter Hollow Lyrics

Jupiter Hollow
Northern Lights
Cast a glow through the window late last night
I went to follow through the sycamore
When I found myself in a place
I'd never been before
There was a unicorn and a dragon queen
Beneath the burgundy sky
I saw an old soldier singin' a love song
He had the distance in his eye

Livin' in another world
Livin' in another time
Like a comet I was hurled
Oh, livin' in another world

Jupiter Hollow
So far, so near
Like a time machine take you out to a different year
Phoebus Apollo played on his lyre
While we danced to the music of the sphere
And as the moon went down and the sun came up
With the mercury risin' too
'Twas then the prophet said the secret of the dead
I'll whisper it to you

Livin' in another world
Livin' in another time
Like a comet I was hurled
Oh, livin' in another world

Jupiter Hollow
In the midnight sun
Well, no man of dreams was ever more outdone
Where the swallows circle over head
And muses gather by the river of the tears we shed
Just like a pioneer in the new frontier
I don't know where to begin
Because nobody cares when a man goes mad
And tries to free the ghost within

Livin' in another world
Livin' in another time
Like a comet I was hurled
Oh, livin' in another world

The Whole NORTHERN LIGTHS SOUTHERN CROSSES Album is SPECTACULAR! For me
the best studio album of THE BAND! Some friends got the original vinyl
edition in late 79 and we burned it by playing as much as the pick up
supported. I recorded it to a cassete till I had my own purchased CD in
the 90's. All tunes are special masterpieces and entered my addictions
doors without knocking, as well as The Last Waltz album!

I live in northern Canada in shield country.   know what he's talking about.  You go to a special clearing or hollow perhaps near your cabin to take in the northern lights swirling overhead in winter at night and the midnight sun in summer when all is still and the sun is up in the middle of the night. These are both very magical otherworldly events. The place where you take it in becomes like a cosmic mystical temple.

    g.... ....

I saw the Northern Lights up in Angling Lake on a fishing trip with my dad...absolutely magical!

    g.... ....

    WOW !!!

    g.... ....

Thanks for that. Never saw them, but I hope to one day....

    A.... M....

ya 41 years ago they wrote this song about game of thrones

    A.... M....

I always thought it was "Cast a Book through the window late last night." Thanks for the clarification!

    A.... M....

Diggin' the creativity. Personally, your interpretation (even though GoT wasn't even around back then) works better with this song than when Zeppelin sing about Lord of the Rings....god that band is terrible.

    A.... M....

Research these terms; Hyperborea, Agartha, Asgaard, Ultima Thule, vril energy, black sun, and VITRIOL. Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem (Visit the interior of the Earth; by rectification thou shalt find the hidden stone)

    A.... M....

Given the timing, GoT is about this song, the opposite of what you argue.

  17. S.... E....

Maybe the most talented group of five musicians there ever was.

    S.... E....

very simply they were nobody came close

    S.... E....

not maybe by far the best nobody even close

    S.... E....

    by far not even close

    S.... E....

Definitely, they all can sing play there instruments perfectly.. Even scorcese did a movie on these guys u know there special.

    S.... E....

The BAND - the best then, the best now, the best there ever will be!

  18. J.... g....

Yeah. Acadian and this one... ;^))

    M.... C....

Are they your two favorite songs off this album?

  20. t.... ....

I remember hearing this out of the blue on the radio in the late 70's and being totally amazed that Garth Hudson played synthesizer. I had to obtain a copy of this album after that! "Acadian Driftwood" is my 2nd favorite...

    t.... ....

    Ophelia was also beautiful.

    t.... ....

This brings back memories of my childhood. My mom was in love with this song! She gave me the gift of music.

  21. B.... ....

For some reason, I just thought of looking up this song. I think the last time I heard this song was 1975.

    B.... ....

hey buddy you finally woke up

    B.... ....

well novinski you need to listen to this the rest of your life

  22. V.... M....

perfect song! Was Robbie Robertson watching Doctor Who and reading Mythology when penning this awesome song?  Garth Hudson's synths are tickling my ears!

  23. L.... S....

This is a really good song! Way overlooked. Very progressive instrumentation. Thanks!

    L.... S....

can't believe a female realizes how superior male musicians are in generaland in life creativity

  24. K.... B....

Garth! And Richard on drums, with Robbie on clavinette.

  25. J.... ....

  31. J.... S....

first of all why do you have two first names?..and on to your lame attempt at dissing me, my mother's joke!!?? what does that even mean?
