After re-reading and listening to the song more, I think maybe the song is actually aimed at guys with your view. “Cool your battles”. You’re talking about your hatred of trump, and basically saying it’s ONLY trumps “side” doing any wrong. Cool your anger and try and see your own “sides” downfalls too. I’m no fan of trump, but both sides can be excessively toxic towards each other. And yeah, i don’t think it’s as literal as right vs left.

Was a bit worried BoS were getting all political, which can go badly for artists, but this is nicely done. Doesn't take sides; it's more like a bit of advice and commentary on how polarised debates can get. It doesn't say: stop your battles. It says cool them down, maybe assume your opponents have good intentions, apply Hanlon's razor, try to understand each other better. I like it!

As a long time listener I was expecting something more than some millennial whoop and bland writing. Sad :(
