dude, this isn't much to get. i mean it's not like fine art that reflects on a life long journey, it's an angsty song that reflects on a childhood which has been recently ended by the discovery that the world is much uglier than it had first seemed to be.
the music that's harder to get and so much more worth trying to understand, is the music that conveys the beauty of the world despite its ugly face. Even if that music has no words, as it often doesn't.

@jsh020 Maybe just that progressive rock is a more well known SUBgenre than indie rock, grunge, emo, and screamo. Only that the rest are coined as styles and misused a lot. In my opinion, emo/screamo were bands who evolved from hardcore punk like Rites of Spring, Cap'n Jazz, Sunny Day Real Estate, pg.99, etc. But in the end it doesn't really matter because not all bands sound the same.

@BashfulBaybee balance and composure is far off from hardcore, post hardcore or anything, yah they get heavy but never hardcore heavy, they only seem kind aheavy due to his voice but hes just got the 90's grunge vocals that made bands like nirvana work because hes got a voice that has a intensity to it thats never so heavy that hes screaming but never to soft that hes clean

they really can just be called progressive rock, emo isnt a genre like how screamo and indie is not a genre.
