Baez, Joan - Pal Of Mine Lyrics

In the night, while you lay sleeping
Dreaming of your amber skies
Was a poor boy broken hearted
Listening to the winds that sigh

My little darling, oh how, I love you
How I love you, none can tell
In your heart you love another
Little darling, pal of mine

Many a day, with you I've rambled
Happiest hours, with you I've spent
For I had your heart forever
But I find it's only lent

There is just three things I wish for
That's my casket, shroud and grave
When I'm dead, don't weep for me
Just like those lips that you betrayed

Actually, I am listening to this on my OnePlus 5 Phone, which has excellent Bluetooth Headphone quality. A proprietary compression algorithm was used on LPs at the time. The LPs produced full dynamic range on analog stereo equipment for Stereo analog speakers. Today's digital equipment and computers which convert the sound to digital MP3 files, loose much of that full immersion "you are there" dynamic range.

The good news is you can filter some of this quality sound back. Use either Audacity for Windows. Instead of using the USB input on the front of your desktop, run the analog signal to the audio in Left and Right on the back of your laptop from the audio out on your LP turntable. If you have old 78 rpm recordings you can play them at LP speed of 33 1/3 if you don't have 78. Record them with Audacity and then use Audacity to "speed up" to 78. I think you can also do this trick with 45 rpm records too as long as you have a 45 spindle adapter.

A good alternative is Nero Wave Editor, you can also sound edit graphical images of the recording and make sound processed, enhanced or corrected MP3 custom ringtones for you phone, if it can play MP3 file ringtones.

Without the above mentioned tweaking, the sound is still good on my phone as it has its own built-in EQ for playback.

she sings with the greenbriar boys

I think this was Joan at her best, before she met Dylan and started singing his songs. She's accompanied by the Greenbriar Boys on this track.

If you like bluegrass. Personally, I think she had some vocal coaching along the way as she has a more powerful voice, especially in the 70s thru 80s. One of the best examples is "The Ballad of Sacco and Vanzette."
