Baez, Joan - Just A Closer Walk With Thee Lyrics

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

When my feeble life is o'er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o'er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

    Thanks for posting it but when I read that no one else does it better, I have to say that you are wrong.Baez has got her own way to sing Gospels, she doesn't imitate black african americans' way. She confirms her bright soprano, but according to me this isn't the best version of this beautiful one. Just listen to Mahalia Jackson's or Ella Fitzgerald's to take only those two which are far better, deeper. I am a big fan of Joan Baez and I have been for years now, but I have to admit that she isn't the best Gospel singer, even if I love her "Oh Freedom", or "Let us break bread together" or "Turn me around" (which isn't a gospel but sounds like...) or her powerful "Swing Low Sweet Charriot" from the 70's. But I enjoy her voice and her soul! She is a guide for many people!

    Our hearts with you and your family. Our hopes for you all. My parents were very very real kinda people. Hippie- kinda people - if you want to say.
    But they taught me to respect one another and giving to one another in need is the most special thing. And all I can do now is give my hopes to you and your family. Never forget the truth but , dear, please do not hold grudges. Hold on to your joy. My Ma in particular-would want you to feel that. Love is an answer. it will prevail. Our hopes and prayers from North Carolina.

    I remember this recording by Joan Baez with great affection. I played it many many times in my youth and still love it. A favorite hymn of mine sung by the legendary Joan Baez.

    One of the my top 5 BAEZ performances ever. This recording is actually a medley of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" by the Father of Gospel Thomas A Dorsey ( it's MLK'S favorite hymn, sung by Aretha @ his funeral) and the traditional "Just a Closer Walk.."
    Wish JB would do a whole album of gospel and other spiritual songs from different faiths and locations.
