Baez, Joan - Hickory Wind Lyrics

In south carolina
There are many tall pines
I remember the oak tree
That we used to climb
But it makes me feel better
Each time it begins
Callin' me home
Hickory wind
I started out younger
At most everything
All the riches and pleasures
What else could life bring
But now when I'm lonesome
I always pretend
That I'm gettin' the feel of
Hickory wind
It's a hard way to find out
That trouble is real
In a far away city
With a far away feel
But it makes me feel better
Each time it begins
Callin' me home
Hickory wind
Keeps callin' me home
Hickory wind

thank you, joan, probably my most favorite song, Sweet Heart of the Rodeo album, by the Byrds is a most excellent album. thank you to Gram Parsons for writing this song. ,The Tuttle version is also excellent. ..

too slow for my taste and a bit lazy, if that's the right word, Compare it to ,which I love, her version of the night they drove old Dixie down.

This song, to borrow the words of another great songwriter goes "straight to your heart like a cannonball." Here's to Gram and to Joan for having the good taste to record this.

    Our greatest living female singer

I love Joan but she may the Greatest living female folksinger; the spotlight needs to be shared with others in many different genres.

Lara Fabian is Belgian, classically trained, and an internationally known singer-songwriter. Lara is not well known in the US, nevertheless Lara has sung duets with Josh Groban, Céline Dion, Michael Bolton and IL Divo to name just a few. Barbara Streisand has covered Laura's song "Broken Vow". Lara is fluent in 4 languages: French, Italian, English and Russian. She writes and performs in all four. Lara wrote lyrics to the Classical Adagio in G Minor for Strings attrib. Albioni in Italian. Listen to her English version. Tell me she's not one of the greatest.
