Bad Religion - The Dodo Lyrics
I see a white haired man, he's got a pseudonym
He's telling people how they're supposed to live
Nobody's listening to the politician
No matter what sage advice he has to give
And he's come to a fork in the road
And there is only one direction to go
Among the commuters, dwarfed by the skyscrapers
I watch the countless millions fighting for space
See hateful, petty acts, disjointed images,
And can't believe that I'm one of the same race
We're all just struggling to cope
And we come to a fork in the road
There's only one direction to go
It's the way of the dodo
Such a noble destiny
It's the waltz of desperation
Passed along to you and me
The way of the dodo
(It's the gray stuff in your head)
(It's the pulse of the living and the voices of the dead)

Quite frankly I hope we do go extinct just because humans are nothing but a negative influence on everything we fucking stumble on
+drumkid330 Hah! This planet has become too small for humanity, we need to conquer and exploit this whole damn galaxy!
+jonharson that would suck for et life then
@drumkid330 ET life is better be more advanced than us when we meet it, or else!
too short
It´s the... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!
Space colonization.
I've realized that b-sides or 'lost tracks' on albums are usually the best songs, or at least the songs you always come back too. I don't know if these songs are particuarly better tracks themselves, or that because they seem like new material from the artists that we trick ourselves into likeing them more, just as we did when we heard previous albums for the first time, when they appeared new to us.
Lose as directed is one of the best
Actually it was released on this: discogs com/Bad-Religion-Punk-Rock-Song/release/368449
that may be just you. you be trollin :p
It is on an Album Called Punk Rock Songs, can be found on ebay on casseette or cd and was german only, it contains some early cuts, b sides and Contains the bands major label cuts, worth getting though because it really just takes the strong songs from the weaker albums. it works as an album. The Second half of the album is live and B sides so its kinda cool, Though that is The Offspring artwork the record company used the cheap bastards, Peace.
Why is this a B-side!?
Fuck, after listening to BR from grade 5 through to my 26th birthday this song is still in my top 5. Weird that a booted around b side had such an impact but I love it.
I think pokemon mightve rip this song off lol
Space, LETS JUST GO TO SPACE!
Does this sound like Panic at the disco to someone else too or just me :D
By rising above it. My sticking to our morals. By helping each other out. By being kind even in the face of adversity. Ever heard of the free world charter? That would be the way.
Homo sapiens will not Survive :) But I doubt it will be do to a global disaster that takes us out though. I think we merely will evolve :) into something know longer homo sapien. Only dying off after the new species makes its appearance and beats us in the game survival.
Actually you cant if he exists or not, history books were largely edited by the romans. Hell jesus may have been a dwarf.
Jesus the miscarriage.
We can fuck the government and put it all in the private sector. Fuck we will leave this planet. No matter the cost.
We shall survive if the planet Earth must die for us to do it.
It's the way of the Lonesome George...
Fuck going extinct.
WE HAVE THE METHODS TO SURVIVE WITHOUT EVEN GETTING OUR SHIT TOGETHER We will kill and fight until we the point comes the Earth is becoming unsustainable, at that point the corporations will look to the stars while the governments bicker about ways to do it.
keep telling yourself that, it ends somewhere.
That isn't true, Jesus was a person, so by saying he never existed is like saying 2+2 doesn't =4.
Bad Religion é foda!!
75 peoples did the backing vocals in the end of the music with Jay and Brian :)
@Franzy3000 Christ has nothing to do with it
@bullhonkeymofo Which is ironic, because they've made some very engaging music to accompany the message.
one guy didn't know where to click
music and lyrics are synergistic. The emotional resonance of the music alters the information content of the lyrics. See Rancid's 1998 as a good example
Like on the old video ALONG THE WAY, all but one of em said that lyrics are more important. I think its both though. Bad religion is both.
@ATribeCalledEly writhing a book (wich gregg has done ) is one thing music goes much deeper then just reading random poems with nothing to make you feel and imagine the artist creativity
i normally don't like punk rock, but bad religion is the exception
They have some time ago... It's called (wonder of wonders^^)
B-Sides and Rarities it's a little harder to get but it's around...
Bought the CD about 2 weeks ago...
I LOVE it...
Even before buying it I knew that BR is great.
But this CD is really a BEST of....^^
news from the front is AWESOME!!! but i think in so many ways is also awesome, but i forget if its a b-side....
they gotta come out with a b-sides compilation!
their greatest best b-side. the first being News From the Front
what do you expect its punk rock :)
That could be, in the abstract I guess the word itself "Dodo" sounds pretty dumb, but its the poster child for Darwin's law. Plus, Dodos are hilarious. Besides, what's Greg Graffin gonna do, not write a song about paralleling our lives with that of an extinct bird? I think not!!
Yeah why indeed, I really like these lyrics.
yeah absolutely, I love the chorus.
