Bad Religion - Popular Consensus Lyrics

Some people are almost impossible to live with.
Some people have faith in the craziest things.
They follow outdated conventions that were recorded.
But most of it, to me, all sounds insane.

Maybe it's all you need to get you through the night.
Maybe you've seen the light.
But you know that popular consensus doesn't make it right.

Nothing can go on while forever increasing.
The universe expanding is a different thing.
But to turn a nasty habit into a virtue
Can't replace the need for charity.

Maybe it's all you need to get you through the night.
Maybe you've seen the light.
But you know that popular consensus doesn't make it right.

Like the seed of all creation or a doomsday scheme,
The future might be bright or bleak.
But you know that popular consensus doesn't mean much to me.

"The popular consensus doesn't make it right." Greg is right! Now why don't more people believe this.

This song has a similar lyrical theme as the song Against the Grain. That's a damn good thing.

All rise for the new anthem of Reason.

My favourite song from this album by far! It's too short to only listen to once, I always skip back and play again haha.

I agree with you, sum won! I love most of BR early work, but I think that ever since they released the amazing The process of belief they have done nothing but getting better and better with each new album! They sound fresh, young and still 100% authentic. Gotta love this guys!

It's weird to be on a youtube page and see all the comments agreeing and being nice. Would anyone like to start an irrational argument with me? I'll begin: the political party and sports team I support are flawless and the political party and sports team you support are deeply flawed and of questionable sexual proclivity.

Bad Religion is the best band ever.

All those albums done since PoB included are a like a new BR with WackerBrooks back there. His touch is a big part of why I love BR's last decade of course along w their wise lyrics that's Greg's vocals give to us.
I never got the impression that it sounded the same or runnin out of ideas. Afterall, some of those older songs meaning needs to be updated sometimes.

I still don't get how all those songs listed in my previous comment, brought disappointment to any BR fans. :)

The last couple were not to the standard I would have hoped. They felt a bit like Bad Religion by numbers - all the usual ingredients in a more lackadaisical collection of songs. In contrast, PoB came as a sudden explosion after some slower paced albums, so really resonated.

I like Bad Religion a lot, but not blindly. This album seems stronger so far.

I don't understand how you can like Bad Religion and say something like that. What's wrong w the resist stance, god's love, lost pilgrim, all there is,avalon, new dark ages, atheist peace, devil in stitches, before you die, beyond electric dreams, social suicide, only rain, grains of wrath, let them eat war, finite,to another abyss,ad hominem, dearly beloved..etc...how can you not like sinister rouge and its opening?
    Give'm a try i'm sure you'll like them!!

  12. d.... d....

Bad religion freed my mind a long long time ago and I'm here to pay my respects.

  13. d.... ....

Something is normal if society defines it to be something that is a regular occurrence in its environment. The idea of something being normal is entirely subjective to the observer of the environment.

  14. m.... b....

so much better than the last couple albums, THIS should have followed the process of belief.

  15. t.... ....

  22. J.... M....

I must say, you guys have managed to create something "true" and "new" @ the same time! Sonically, there are some really cool things going on with this album.

"Nothing can go on while forever increasing
The universe expanding is a different thing."

Only Greg Graffin would write lyrics like that in a punk song...love it!

    M.... S....
