On the first album it sounds to me at least like Greg was trying to be Johnny Rotten even live back then he kinda moved liked him and would bark his lyrics.

I wonder if the only thing that's significantly different now about Bad Religion is the production style. If "Fuck You" from True North were recorded in this style rather than the squeaky clean production that it has, it would sound very similar, right? I don't know what it is about records with this sort of super raw production... It's great, and fits this album so well, but it only works when it's for real. Low budget can't be faked. That's how you wind up with Metallica's "St. Anger." That's why Bad Religion couldn't repeat this album even if they wanted to. It's once in a lifetime.

For what it's worth, I think Bad Religion have 'made it big' and haven't sold out on the way of doing so. Sure it's not like they get played on the radio 5 times a night, but they still have a lot of people listening and loving their music. I guess it depends where you draw the line of 'making it big' but yeah, grats to BR for doing so well. (In my opinion :P)

uhm shadow9vesper , this album was made with almost no cash diy hardcore punk bands from this era did it all themselves and made almost nothing .and alot of those recordings came out way better then shit being done on pro tools buy todays pop star jerk offs .
