Bad Religion - Chasing The Wild Goose Lyrics

There was a man who banged his head against a wall he banged for 20 years, the damn thing wouldn't fall he left an honest life he left a broken wife he left it all behind, just to see what he could find millions and millions chase the wild goose tonight to conquer loneliness they'll chase it all their lives and when they find it they can just lay down and die it seems the game is mostly pointless in the presence of the prize. there was a woman who had a man as cold as ice he built four walls so strong and he kept her locked inside she harbored loneliness her husband couldn't guess that she'd take off her dress and kill herself without a mess.

Bad Religion Chasing The Wild Goose Comments
  1. C.... B....

    I like this song.

  2. N.... ....

SUCH AN INSPIRING SONG!!! In the constitution it's called "The PURSUIT of happiness" not simply happiness.... It's a damn moving-target that keeps you motivated. Question the happiness you chase. Maybe you are already happy. When you seek to control things you lose your freedoms. JUST LAY DOWN AND DIE

  3. D.... ....

Fantastic album, welcome to organic creation here, not worrying about trends or what's going to come off as harsh or edgy sounding. A brave record anyways, wish they would have actually stood by their own work, it's incredibly refreshing when compared to contemporary albums of the period.

  4. T.... L....

Nothing wrong with the song, but I'm surprised this came from a released album. The sound quality is like they recorded it in a garage.

  5. h.... ....

Lame instrumentation aside this is actually a damn good album. Most of the songs are solid and some like Chasing the Wild Goose are fucking amazing. Just listen to the Jawbreaker or Screeching Weasel covers.

  6. V.... ....

Kinda sounds like Hüsker Dü's later stuff

  7. t.... l....

its actually a damn good album. damn, people stop dismissing it. it was ground breaking. and amazeing song. cheer's (:

  8. M.... W....

Fuct up it cuts off the end.

  9. T.... ....

reminds of Ziggy Stardust a bit

    T.... ....

Exactly what I thought when I first heard it now

the systems of life hum accordingly
every day, every year, every century
but, everywhere humans go things get worse
can't you tell through the smoke in the dirty city
the jungle was once a tranquil hideaway
for the kind of trees and the mountains themselves
but man those things sell a million dollars a pound
cut them up, dry them out, good display for the shelves
why can't we just leave them alone?

    who is the animal?
    who is that dangerous beast?
why were the other ones made?
i know it wasn't just for our feast

and now they're down to 250 lone souls
they're a breed of a losing generation it seems
the killers are ourselves so you know who to blame
it was man with his plan and his frightening greed
i don't think we'll ever leave them alone.

I don't know what people are bitching about... This album is actually pretty kick ass! At first of course I had my doubts... But now I can't stop listening!

    LONG LIVE BR

  12. T.... L....

This song makes me pine for my 20's. It was a great house party and camp fire jam tune. And, sometimes, we even had a banjo player, which put an interesting spin on it. Good times! :)

  13. J.... D....

then go back to listening to Fall Out Boy and Blink 182. I'm not saying it's the best album ever, but it's much better than originally reviewed.

    J.... D....

John Doe I like BR and those bands :)

  14. t.... ....

I could use a bit more cowbell

  15. S.... M....

Go back to '83 and erase this shit's existence. Then the real bad religion that started in 1980 and disintegrated by this record might reappear and stop horrible albums like 'suffer' and everything that came afterwards from happening! wawawaw I'm a 21st century sellout mall poser hot topic punk! wawawawa

    S.... M....

    Obvious troll lol. Just why?
    Feel better now?

    S.... M....

Suffer.. horrible? Whatever you say dude.

  16. M.... w....

whomever disliked this song, can fuck off and die!,.. have a nice day. :)

    M.... w....

Michael walker green day quote 😉

@jimbo2346 Because Rush, Tears for Fears, Styx, REO Speedwagon, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull are often criticized for having empty lyrics.

It's the fact that the lyrics are so thought provoking that seals the album as, fucking weird as this sounds, a really solid prog album.

    w.... ....

In many cases those criticisms of those bands are unjust.

  18. s.... ....

I love this album. I am a punk rocker. I am 27. My best friend died of a heroin overdose in Feb. My circle of friends are all gone, from OD or accidental gunfire-all gone-into the unknown :/

  19. N.... ....

Finally! I found a stream of this album! This song is sick and I wish they'd play it live or re-record it or something. I'd buy the album if it wasn't gonna be $200+ in that box set, but I think I may definitely get the shirt.

Greg and Co., please re-release and/or re-record this!

  20. T.... ....

I'M SO EXCITING THEY'RE RE ISSUEING THIS!!! EVEN IF ITS ONLY IN A BUNDLE FOR $200!!!

    T.... ....

I wish they would reissue it again. That $200 bundle has skyrocketed in value to $5000.

  21. J.... S....

i got high to this song and stare at the album picture and i went somewhere..into the unknown.

  22. j.... ....

Even in a "progressive rock" like sound, Bad Religion still kept the thought provoking lyrics.

Also, the music it self isn't that bad. If they are never gonna release this stuff, they should at least play some of it live again, for the hell of it.
