Bad Religion - Changing Tide Lyrics

Every day's the same routine of endless chores and boring details.
And you know you're waiting for the perfect condition for your ship to set sail.

But of course, the climate's always changing.
Clinging to the past has got you straining.
Comes the recognition now you're on a mission that is born to fail,
Leave it!

Brothers, say goodbye.
Sisters, don't you cry, yeah.
All embrace the times.
Wade into the changing tide.

Searching for philosophy of life can be a drag on the soul.
Nowadays we pick and choose the pieces from other people's wisdom of old.

But of course, the climate's always changing.
Clinging to the past has got you straining.
Realizing all your most cherished beliefs are subject to rot and mold.
C'mon!

Brothers, say goodbye.
Sisters, don't you cry, yeah.
All embrace the times.
Wade into the changing tide.

Bad Religion Changing Tide Comments
  1. M.... O....

I'm not sure how exactly to interpret this song. I guess its a tragic song about losing conviction and shaped by circumstance.

    M.... O....

or maybe its a sympathetic tale of making due under circumstances we can't control...

  2. J.... K....

I want this song played at my funeral. I've lived every single word of it. I f***ing love this song.

Want this song played at my funeral!!!

    A.... Z....

Me too, man! I just wrote that comment without having seen yours. This song is just spectacular.

  10. K.... ....

  11. A.... P....

  12. T.... ....

    Good job!

  13. j.... b....

I linked this video after one of yours. You compliment each other well.

  14. F.... G....

It kinda sucks when a girl you love breaks your heart and they happen to be way into the same music you love. It kinda ruins it for you especially if you guys have memories with music involved. It just brings it all back up. That's why I barely listen to Godsmack anymore. It just reminds me of her and all the fun stuff we did and how now she's with my friend probably fucking him to the same album we used to. It just ends up putting me in a rotten mood.

  15. T.... A....

I don't no man that is how girls are you know

  16. B.... T....

Why cant i find a girl that loves bad religion as much as i do??

  17. p.... ....

That's Exactly How I Feel About This Band! :) Like Your Covers!

  18. N.... ....

So I'm not the only one :)

  19. D.... M....

tru dat... Bad Religion is not just a band... but a way of thought!

  20. d.... ....

don't sell me short is amazing.. lost in a not so great album

  21. s.... w....

But that would be against the meaning of the album , True North...keep searching till the end, right! I'm sure there's more to come and it will be obvious when the last one comes to life, we will get the message. I think.
I hope you're not right too, if so, well I' ll be waiting for the following of Anarchy Evolution.

  22. F.... ....

I feel this actually could be the last song ever put on a record by Bad Religion - it could be an actual goodbye song. Whether they will is up to them, but it could be their swan song tbh. Let's hope I'm not right though. ;)

  23. M.... C....

Do you have a favorite yet? One you may do acoustic? And when can we get you out to California to perform?

  24. I.... S....

They have now reached a standard level, songs of high contents of meaning as always, clear voices, melody and punk as bad religion well knows as from the origin

  25. A.... W....

Bad Religion sure knows how to make an album.

  26. J.... B....

i know right!? thats one of my favorites by them. that solo is just grand. it actually even sounds a little like something Spy V Spy would play

  27. T.... ....

this song has a very melancholic and, at the same time, encouraging feel to it. i find it amazing how Bad Religion perfectly describe everything that's wrong with life of today, yet make you feel that it's an experience worth fighting for, and that you won't be alone in it. such a privilege to share this journey with Bad Religion, with their music as a soundtrack

  28. s.... ....

A really good closing song indeed, but does anyone else feel like this song is half finished? Like it's about to climax after "Nowadays we pick and choose the pieces from other people's wisdom of old"... and then repeats, leaving a void where a nugget of lyrical and philosophical gold might have gone? I guess that's Bad Religion for you – there is no answer: no Bad Religion song can make your life complete... We've come full circle in form and function. Frustrating, puzzling, and cathartic.

  29. F.... J....

    uuuu tremendo que weeeeno

  30. b.... ....

Agreed 100%, Those are two great songs.

Changing Tide, incidentally, has that TNA vibe/positivity to it but somehow... improved?

  31. S.... G....

Best closer since 'Don't Sell Me Short'. I wasn't a huge fan of the Atlantic era, but I thought 'Don't Sell Me Short' and 'You've Got A Chance' were two great songs.

  32. S.... G....

Dude, I was thinking the same thing. Every song feels like they had every intention to stay with the 'let's go back to our old school roots' mentality.

  33. A.... ....

Can I just say your comment basically describes what all music should be, but then BR wouldn't be as special I suppose.

  34. M.... ....

    Top Banana !

  35. H.... G....

I just listened to the whole album. First off, I have to say I loved every song. That very rarely happens. You don't get the idea that any of the songs were filler.

Second; I scrolled through the comments on each song, and there was intelligent discussion going on without the typical trolls and annoying little kids. That goes to show how awesome BR's fans are.

  36. M.... M....

I don't remember my life without Bad Religion. Over the last 25 years my musical interests have come and gone, bands have come and gone but BR have always been there. Not just as a nostalgic thing from my past but as a corner stone in the foundation of who I am. Ever relevant, inspiring and so important. I consider BR a friend that i have relied upon through out my life. The BR catalogue is the sound track of my life. Long Life to Bad Religion. You are appreciated and important to so many.

    Thx

  37. S.... ....

I have to agree here. With "The Dissent of Man" it sounded sort of like "Ok, guys, we need to make another album now." Here, it sounds like everyone couldn't wait to make this happen. The energy is noticeable in every song. Excellent addition to the catalog, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

  38. T.... ....

I am not the biggest BR fan of all times like you all,but i post the comment after hearing the whole album..may be some songs and riffs are similar to early albums, but its still amazing to hear brand new good non commercial music these days form such a great band!

  39. m.... s....

I agree with you! But for me nothing better than endings of Suffer (Pessimistic Lines) and Recipe for hate (Skyscraper)

  40. D.... h....

Bad Religion adjusted my worldview, science redefined it and life has shaped it into what I am today. It's not what they do, it's what you do and what gets you stoked!!! Be happy!!

  41. i.... ....

Ah god this album is awesome!

  42. N.... E....

Wow. Just.....wow. Thanks BR for another amazing album! I'm sure you don't want all the praise, but holy shit! You produced a better album than most artists in any genre in the last few years, and you deserve a lot of credit. I will always be a huge fan

  43. A.... B....

Pre ordered a couple weeks ago or so but finally got around to listening to the album via youtube. I am more impatient than ever to have it. Played through the living room receiver as my 4 year old daughter spins through the house in an imaginary pit, my say's I thought you weren't going to have that yet, and my son gives me that worried look of "what books is dad going to give me to read now" I love it! another great collection of music from my favorite band makes me feel like a teenager again.

  44. F.... ....

Let's all calm down. Fair album, better than Dissent of Man, though certainly nowhere near as good as the three preceding that or the majority of their body of work. Some tracks like Nothing to Dismay and Fuck You stand up to previous quality and style. Others such as Dharma and the Bomb (standout track imo) suggest a new style that I think they should have run with more. A lot of the tracks have the potential to be as good as that but they held back too much. Not a bad album but not a classic.

  45. J.... H....

I agree that this is a great finishing track. But no album ever produced by anyone will ever overcome ending with "Cease" on The Gray Race.

  46. p.... ....

Brett, how about a few bonus tracks?? Please don´t leave us hanging! This is just to Goddamn good to end like this. I want something MORRRREEEEEEEEEEE

  47. M.... ....

YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! Absolutely amazing album. Wow......Well done gents! 10 more records!!!

  48. S.... D....

what an amazing closer. thanks for everything, BR. please don't ever stop doing what you're doing.

  49. b.... ....

Song brings a tear to my eye .

  50. E.... D....

It's as if you read my mind and saw my thoughts and decided to write an album to help me cope with them. Great finishing song. You will always be my favorite band and for a million good goddamned reasons.

  51. R.... F....

Legendary as always. Here's to the greatest punk rock band of all time. Cheers!

  52. K.... M....

Best release since Recipe for Hate.

    My god, I loved this.

  53. j.... ....

    Ok that's it! Enough!
    I'm buying it !!

  54. I.... ....

Good song, good record. Better record than The Dissent of man.

  55. W.... ....

    Great ending track.
