Bad Religion - Boot Stamping On A Human Face Forever Lyrics
“Drop dead, it doesn’t matter,” she said
“It only hurts when I laugh,” she said
“Sometimes it’s never a crime
“To spend the day in bed”
She made certain that the curtains were red
She leaned back, tilted her head
And this is what she said…
“You can’t win; think it over again
“I can’t win; look at the trouble I’m in
“We can’t win and we’re stuck here together
“Yeah, I hope it will last forever.”
“Don’t ever dare to hope,” he said
“So I’m never let down too bad
“So I’ll just stay here, instead”
He knew better than to pull at a thread
They unravel like the thoughts in his head
He looked out; it filled him with dread
And this is what he said…
[Chorus]
With good books and looks on their side
And hearts bursting with national pride
They sang songs and went along for the ride
And the other side complied
They said, "Hey, man, where do you reside?"
"And could it be mother’s superior lied?"
"And is it possible too many have died?"
It’s only natural to reply
[Chorus]

Bad Religion Boot Stamping On A Human Face Forever Comments
The moral of 1984 is that when an all powerful dystopia comes to power... nothing can stop it, or in other words "you can't win".
Reminds me of "Struck A Nerve", even though they dont sound the same.
I hope for this future. Humanity deserves it.
This album & song are 1 of my absolute favorites by BR. Of course, I literally JUST read "1984" a few months before this album released.... ** if you HAVEN'T READ 1984.... well. You're not only missing out on an incredible classic, but, you're also probably not QUITE "getting" a LOT of what the songs on this album are alluding to. This song IN PARTICULAR!!!** LOOOOVE BAD RELIGION FOREVERMORE!!!
Was good till the singing started, holy shit this sucks
Thank you for your shitty comment.
Its an acquired taste, much like beer, children think it's horrible.
Next Bad religion album should be....interesting...following this political cycle...

Bad Religions politics make this songs title ironic beyond help
Just finished reading 1984. A remarkable book.
maximum the hormone is rlly good too
1984's Quote
Brilliant song and I personly think everyone should hear it
It took me years to finally buy the newer Bad Religion albums, but i gotta say they're nowhere near as bad as i thought they'd be after i heard they'd sold out. This song is fantastic.
@Nick Miller Geez. Whenever i hear people complaining about a band "selling out", the first thing that comes to my mind is a hipster teenager listening to some underground band with a following of 3 people whilst slitting their wrists. But hey, that's just me.
It's almost as if they don't want artists to make money.
I don't want musicians to make money... it's what fucking destroys music... if it wasn't for money justin bieber, all th eglam metal, and all this shit woldn't exist... and i think this world would be a bit better
@Arnijo ej
I understand your view and agree to an extent except for that, in the current day and age under most 1st world governments, if you want to live you need money, and if you spend most of your time making music how are you expected to also have a full-time job?
If you want a vision of the future - Imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.
This is based loosely on the book 1984. The title of the song is a quote from the book. I think this song represents right and left wing political parties in the US and how its a futile tug of war where no one can win.
Perhaps how the wars between the 3 superpowers in the book were staged nonsense, used to distract the people and consume excess products of manufacturing? Sounds about right.
Yes. The themes of the two songs are very similar. Could be the same story told from different angles. A continuation.
Thematically, yes, they are almost identical.
Oh no, I'm well aware they're different. It's just, I don't know, like they're telling two parts of the same story. Or it's the same situations from two different people, so it's different songs with similar themes. Or I'm just reading way too much into it.
Besides broken has way more faster tempo than this one.
I disagree with you. I think Broken is totally different style song.
nofx is number 1. bad religion, lagwagon, and pennywise tie for number 2
You have good taste!
I just started reading it, but I knew what this song was talking about from the beginning. I think it's amazing that Bad Religion makes songs about amazing pieces of literature. Pop music today sings about love, and who or what to fuck.
can be a responses to more presidencies than Bushs
willphillify bro, you have no fucking idea
One of the best riffs I ever heard.
definately one the best responses to the Bush presidency besides the NOFX album 'The War on Errrorism'
Anyone else listen to "Broken" then this? I swear these songs go together. Maybe I'm just stupid. XD
Essa música dói no coração, de tão linda.
@deezeyfresh not only the album but the band Bad Religion is the kings of punk
Don't hate on me cause i love BR's older stuff too but this is my favorite album by them.......i think my mom cried when she heard this album cause she was so happy when she heard this album cause she thought they "sold out" after stranger then fiction and she didn't hear process of belief and when she heard this she knew that her favorite band was back and when i heard this i knew i would be listening to punk rock forever!!!
I fucking LOVE this album.
@joeisaflyingfish finally i expected at least twenty comment's of the like
There's such great imagery in this song. This was one of my favorites back in the day.
@japanesexbastard Lmao, same here!! :O Seeing them tonight!!! :D I've seen them twice at Warped Tours 2007 & 2009, but this is the first time I'll see them headlining, playing a full set. :D
For über fun, try playing the intro of this song on a kazoo :D
nice.. i got this album when i was 12 years old and it was my first punkrock album.. i'll never forget that. thanks
