Backstreet Boys - If You Stay Lyrics

To be happy
You are all I need
To make me happy
'Cuz everytime you're near
All the tears inside are raindrops
All the sadness in my lifetime goes away

Just believe in me
All I need is someone
Who believes in me
You're the goodluck charm
You're the reason for the rainbows
God knows I'd hate to see you go away
Baby don't leave me this way

[Chorus:]
If you stay
If you stay, I'll give you what you want
I'll show you
I'll show you, I'm the only one for you baby
If you stay
If you stay with me
I'll show you
I'll show you how much I need you
Oh how much I need you

To be with you
I just wanna constantly be with you
It's only when you're around
All the problems solve my problems
All the clouds inside my garden roll away
Baby they roll away

[Chorus]

Oh forever
You have all my gratitude forever
For being who you are
Brings me victory as a promise
My frustrations and my losses fly high away
They fly

[Chorus]

Only if you stay, only if you stay [2x]

I like this song at 1.25

  4. F.... B....

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS SONG!!!!

    F.... B....

I am sure that most people who heard it on the soundtrack in 1997 also did. Especially R&B/hip-hop heads. It took me 22 years to make the connection that the then-unknown BSB were the BSB we have seen them become.

    F.... B....

lvelvetj it’s so good. I knew about it in 1997 but because it rarely gets performed, 20 years later (now) I am completely having memories flood back.

  5. R.... T....

Not sure why anyone is surprised.. This is one of their first tracks i heard frim tbe bootycall soundtrack....

If you go back youd know that quite a few pop artist did RnB songs starting out such as Madonna

    R.... T....

I loved this song when it first came out. I had that soundtrack and played it out

  6. V.... S....

I wish they would sing this song at their concerts

    V.... S....

Veronica Stevens they used to. I wish they would do it again! https://youtu.be/zbIQ4FswHOw

  7. K.... K....

When I first heard this song, I thought it was dope. Now that I know who sings it, I am pleasantly surprised.

  10. l.... f....

Been a fan of BSB for 24 yrs now but why the hell do i not know this song? Am i not a real fan?? 😭Damn.. this is sooo good! ❤

    l.... f....

It was a non-single from the "Booty Call" soundtrack and BSB were unknown in the US when the album and movie were released. So, it went way under the radar.

  11. J.... J....

BSB started out mostly R&B, and they did it SO well. Some of their best songs are on their very early imports. Everytime I Close My Eyes is one of my personal favorites. https://youtu.be/IJfBwmZ0qwU

  12. T.... L....

What a shame this song never got airplay I truly believe it's a number one and I can not go a day without hearing it I love my Backstreet Boys forever and I'm going to see them in concert in September 💖😍😁

  17. c.... c....

Wow i just realized this was a backstreetboys song they sound like a black r&b group.😵🔥😵🔥😵🔥😵🔥

    I had the Bootycall soundtrack
Had NO IDEA a boy band sang this-this song go so fucking hard! 🙌🏾

    D.... ....

People tend to forget that BSB is vocal harmony group. They don't get a lot of appreciation of the diverse body of work they have done in almost every genre: R&B, pop, pop rock, modern pop, dance pop, adult alternative/contemporary, country, etc. Together over 25 years+ ✌

  22. r.... ....

This was one of their first songs that their released. I don't know why the industry just want to show them just as a handsome boys , but they have a great vocals, and great unreleased songs... Nobody believed Thay they were singing this kind of song... They made a collaboration with Lionel Richie, but that cant see the light, because the producerse

  23. b.... ....

  52. K.... M....

Love this song. BsB is 1 of my favorite groups. Their vocals are better than most artists out now.

  53. M.... H....

Backstreet boys were never given enough credit for their vocal harmonies their image overshadowed their talents but they were Awesome back in the day!!

    M.... H....

    Magic Heats They are Back!

    M.... H....

What harmonies? This song produced by Prince Be from PM Dawn, he's on back vocals clearly sound through their voices. And lead vocal is exact copy of his.

    M.... H....

    They where the best

    M.... H....

Doha Gassim they still are as they continue together for 26 years

  57. N.... E....

Wow!! Been loving the shit out this songs for years & just found out Backstreet Boys are the artists..... Dope song, it's on the Booty Call movie soundtrack with Jamie Foxx & Tommy Davidson.

  58. P.... W....

My son just shared this with me. He was the big fan back in the day but I appreciate their old stuff too. Now this, i've never heard and I am wowed.

  59. C.... H....

I remember showing my dad this song and he didn't believe it was a group of white guys.  Brian is everything on this song.  Their harmonies are on point and I hope their next album brings back their R&B style again.  I love that they worked it into their NKOTBSB tour.

    C.... H....

@DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 i know he didnt write it. did u not see how i wrote. "this was a brian song which he mostly sang lead on"? not "this is a brian song which he wrote" and yea i know who prince be is, lol sorry bsbs old school r&b songs were always cut bc they werent pop/rock/funk/rap. b&b and never gone albums lost another of good songs, but least they put drowing in their g8sthits album tho OMG this song "if you stay" is on their essentials album if i rmmbr

    C.... H....

@Real Cosmic Builds Ah ok, sorry, missed it. This song was not included on the album but it was featured on Senseless Soundtrack, there's also autotuned version Prince Be made with Doc G rapping over it with video clip made around 2010 I think, but it's not good. I don't know why they decided to make it.

    C.... H....

DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 this song is on the Booty Call Soundtrack

    C.... H....

    @Luvspell12 N Right, lol.

    C.... H....

@Real Cosmic Builds This is actually a Biggie original. Listen to a song called "Get Money" BSB/PM Dawn sampled it.

  60. D.... J....

This was my song on the Booty Call Soundtrack next to Call Me by Lil Kim and Too Short

    D.... J....

Devin James ookk..i so agree with you

  61. D.... ....

This song is by the Backstreet Boys? Mind officially blown! lol

    D.... ....

    DOTHERIGHTTHING1989
What? I never said the BSB wrote this particular song. A lot of American R&B writers wrote for them before they went on to work with Max Martin and his team circa Millennium. I know this because I look at the name(s) of songwriter(s) as credited as a fan.

    D.... ....

@DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 didn't they sample Biggie's "Get Money" though? Or was it originally PM Dawns?

    D.... ....

@Iris E it's not Biggies or PM Dawn's. I'ts a sample taken from original song by Sylvia Striplin
"You Can't Turn Me Away" (1981)

    D.... ....

@Nolvora You probably wanted to say Dennis Pop and his team in which Max Martin was.

    D.... ....

@DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 Denniz Pop had passed just before they recorded and released Millennium, so saying 'Max Martin and his team' is correct (I'm not implying Max Martin owns the team --- I was meant to say Max and his co-writers/colleagues at Cheiron). And, yes, I'm aware Denniz Pop invited Max Martin to join his team. They (including Denniz Pop) worked on a few BSB songs before Millennium but Millennium was mostly written/produced by Max Martin and team.

  62. B.... ....

written and produced by none other than P.m. Dawn

    B.... ....

Makes all the sense in the world now.

    B.... ....

alot of people dont know this ,but this song is nothing but p.m. dawn

    B.... ....

the harmonies in the beginning explain it all #BootycallSoundtrack

  63. M.... R....

    BOOTY CALL SOUNDTRACK!!!

    M.... R....

My hardcopy of the soundtrack just arrived today in the mail 👏🔥👏🔥👏🔥👏

    M.... R....

When the movie and soundtrack were released, BSB were largely unknown in the US. So, it took me 22 years to circle back to my CD of the soundtrack and make the connection that they were on it.

  64. P.... S....

Wooow!!!! This song is amazing love BSB KTBSPA

  65. b.... ....

I knew about this song more than a decade ago. It was on the booty call soundtrack in the 90's.

  66. t.... r....

    White boys represent!!

    t.... r....

    Howie is Latin.

  67. b.... ....

I knew about this song before Backstreet went pop, so sad. This song shows
    so much potential.

    b.... ....

brixtongun the always were R&B and Pop. This is while they had their second album out, and the first one had several pop songs too.

    b.... ....

Theres a number of of 80s artist who got songs that you would think are black but tbey arent..

  68. D.... ....

Ten years before this tour lol

  69. R.... W....

    Yep it sure is!

  70. R.... W....

The first time I heard this song was on the Booty Call soundtrack and I have been in L-O-V-E with this song ever since!!!!!!

  71. M.... S....

What tour ? *thumbs down* xD

  72. t.... ....

I think him and AJ both did. AJ could really get down vocally too, when he wanted to as well I believe. He had some soul. Also I think although Nick was cute, I think he has improve a lot, his voice has gotten so much better over the years. It has become like melted butter or honey. It's crazy insane good.

  73. s.... ....

this is why i'm BSB 4 LYFE! Love these boys man!!

  74. N.... M....

    Such a beautiful song

  75. *.... ....

Brian had the BEST voice of all of them... brian had the voice while nick had the "angelic face" ...made them blow UP 3

  76. S.... ....

Thank you! so glad they sung this in concert!

  77. S.... V....

    Booty Call Soundtrack is dope!

  78. C.... ....

    BSB's harmonies are killer...

  79. A.... G....

    thanks ;)

  80. D.... ....

    agreed!

  81. C.... L....

I like it. Oh, and they sampled Sylvia Striplin's You Can't Turn Me Away. Old school....people.

  82. A.... B....

Man this was the first song I ever heard from them. I remember BANGING it. I worked at blockbuster usic and i had got this on single cd. WOW back in the day

  83. t.... ....

Brian sang the mess outta this song. Who knew he could get that soulful. This right here is real music.

    t.... ....

    man sang church

  84. T.... ....

oh my god, i'm so surprised they didn't too! I scratched my booti call album for this track alone.

  85. A.... W....

I remember having the booty call soundtrack for this song back in the day. Vintage bsb. God I miss those days.

  86. t.... ....

@chrisarodgers No I didn't say it was written by them. I said it was originally sung by them. I know who wrote it and produce it.

  87. b.... ....

    donde puedo descargarme esta cancion??

  88. K.... A....

Love this song - I'm glad they worked it into NKOTBSB!

  89. C.... R....

@trn17 - Not a BSB written song. Not only was it produced by PM Dawn, it was written by PM Dawn (look at the song credits - A Cordes *is* Prince Be of PM Dawn).

  90. K.... W....

Love that song! Very pretty and yet very cool. Loved that they sang it on the NKOTBSB tour (hadn't heard the song 'til then) and liked that they made it a little more upbeat and funky. I was dancing to it at both the shows I went to. :)

  91. Q.... ....

@aldinyz It was on the soundtrack for Booty Call. My fav BSB song!

  92. Q.... ....

THE BEST BSB SONG EVER. PERIOD.

  93. C.... L....

I meant *Sylvia Striplin* . Sorry for the type error.

  94. C.... L....

Love this. Everybody sampled this beat. Yes it is a sampled beat. The song is called "You Can't Turn Me Away" from Sylvia Stripin. Biggie Smalls sampled this beat too (Get Money).

    C.... L....

Thank you. I always love knowing original beats.

  95. R.... V....

When we (my mates and I) first heard this track back in 96/97, we had no idea it was bsb!! My mate who 'discovered' this track challenged us to work out who sang it. When he told it was bsb, we were in absolute shock! Amazing choon. Still gives me goosebumps to this day!

  96. d.... ....

I really do like this song, but you can definitely tell that the pitch of this whole song was altered in the studio. It sounds like their voices were manipulated to create this weird kind of falsetto. Brian doesn't sound at all like himself in this song, but if you drop the pitch of the song down a step, it sounds perfect. When they sing it live, it sounds much better and much more natural.

    d.... ....

It really does sound better live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbIQ4FswHOw

  97. S.... ....

@anarox27 I remember bumping this on the booty call soundtrack back when I was 18 and then when they broke it out on the tour, I won't lie I got my scream on a little.
