B-52's, The - Theme For A Nude Beach Lyrics

Bop bop bop boodha bah da da
Bop bop bah da bah da
Bop bop bop boodha bah da da
Bop bop bah da bah da

There is a sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay
Sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay

There's a beach
Oh I hope it's not out of reach
It's very beautiful
Come my little peach

Together we'll go down to nude beach
Together we'll stroll on the sand
We'll stroll on the sand together
Where the air and the land meet forever
The sea, the land
A land of tan

We know a place where we are free
We throw our suits into the sea

There is a sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay
Sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay

Bop bop bop boodha bah da da
Bop bop bah da bah da
Bop bop bop boodha bah da da
Bop bop bah da bah da

Please take my hand. You are a woman
I am a man

This place is so remote, everything is revealed
It's so mysterious
Here I must stay forever

Together we'll go down to nude beach
Together we'll stroll on the sand
We'll stroll on the sand together
Where the air and the land meet forever
The sea, the sand
A land of tan

There is a sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay
Sand bar in your mind
Sand bar in the bay

B-52's, The Theme For A Nude Beach Comments
  1. M.... A....

    Tony Mansfield.

  2. S.... S....

    R. I. P. Ricky Wilson , his last recordings ....

  3. R.... J....

    everything is so revealing

  4. A.... C....

The break in this tune is killer !

  5. B.... D....

Sounds like a distinct homage to Sergio Mendes from his 60's period.

  6. R.... A....

Esta cancion tiene que ser reversionada por The B-52´s. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. s.... ....

Massively underated album due to its not being promoted because of Ricky's illness and then early passing. Ironic really as this is so much his album. This track and She Brakes For Rainbows are the 52's at a sonic peak.

    s.... ....

    In what way?

  8. S.... U....

Every song in this record is stellar. The soundtrack to good 🌊, s, pretty women, and fun times. Throw your suit's in the sea, people.

  9. L.... ....

there's something very special about this song.

  10. F.... R....

Keith once said they wanted Tony Mansfield as a producer for "Bouncing Off The Satellites" because he and Ricky loved the song he produced for Captain Sensible, "Glad It's All Over". You can feel the connexion with this song right here !

  11. L.... ....

    love is this song

  12. J.... R....

one of the only songs ive liked by them so far

    J.... R....

    Why do you say that?

    J.... R....

    Really?

  13. a.... e....

lo escucho en verano de 2018

  14. T.... R....

    Nice Song

  15. R.... ....

You are a woman... *I* am a man!!

    R.... ....

Can someone please explain this lyric to me?

    R.... ....

@burtonrules123 Most likely related to their hugely experimental nature as artists. Also the men of the band were homosexual. I guesss you can take it from here. Good stuff. Great musicians not giving a damn about standards or boundaries.

  16. D.... R....

The guitar riff at 1:37 grabs me every time

    D.... R....

Also featured in Summer Of Love..

    D.... R....

Grabs me too! But it's the percussion behind the guitar riff in that section that actually makes my nipples hard.

  17. J.... T....

I thought Bouncing was their best album, but it's largely overlooked it seems

    J.... T....

Justin Tyme it's one of their most disliked by people, but I like it too

    J.... T....

    Justin Tyme
I have no idea why. I think it's one of their best albums. There are many songs on it that I love, but I think this one and She Brakes For Rainbows 🌈 should have been the singles.

    J.... T....

Best album... all time worst album cover!

  18. p.... b....

I'm so in love with Kate Pierson!

  19. T.... R....

    That riff is so fun.

  20. L.... L....

When I was in my teens when this first came out and we would listen, every time that part came on of, "You... are a WOMAN! Aaah... and a MAN!" We would jokingly adlib, "How very perceptive of you!" ;)

  21. A.... J....

this song is why i re explored this project! the bass and rhythm are on point!

  22. A.... N....

    I love their stuff

  23. c.... b....

The kingdom of God is within....

  24. D.... B....

Hugely talented and won't be forgotten. Their songs are distinctive and unique.

  25. b.... ....

This must be the prettiest song they ever recorded. I believe all of them sing in the chorus. A treat.

    b.... ....

    @bobshunkweiler They do

    b.... ....

This one and She Brakes For Rainbows are both brilliant, vocally.

  26. G.... L....

This album was made after R. Wilson's death and they made "Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland". I remember when they first came to Rio in 1985 and this album, from 1986 was a chapter of my life when I was 19, 20 y.o. Love it! (Y)

    G.... L....

ricky was alive during the recording of this album

    G.... L....

If you can believe Wikipedia, Ricky even sings on this song, together with all other band mates :-)

  27. A.... ....

That "cuica" used on the song brings me a feeling that there was a kind of brazilian inspiration.....

    A.... ....

I think that's Kate imitating a cuica. She's such an underrated vocalist.

  28. a.... n....

Have had this song in my mind since I heard it on cassette tape over 30 years ago, it has taken me ages to find...... thank you booboobay1 & youtube.
One of the best periods of my life! when my mum and dad were still alive, and they both loved this tune too. I agree with Marco Ringo..... screw the critics..... fillers forever.

  29. t.... ....

listen to the chorus, it`s Kate and Keith :)

    t.... ....

tecdessus Keith has such a sweet voice.

  30. t.... ....

That`ll be the Guerca instrument sound, which Kate sings !

  31. S.... ....

The only thing more pathetic than a classical music critic is a pop music critic and it's a tragedy anyone ever listens to any of them. For what it's worth, I make my living at music and my work has been consistently well reviewed but they all make me sick to my stomach which is their sole function as parasites.

  32. s.... ....

    HERE I MUST STAY....FOREVER!

  33. r.... ....

Wonderful song ! Reminds me RIO de Janeiro !

  34. A.... K....

We know a place where we are free!!!!

  35. b.... ....

If you listen to a lot of B-52's songs like I do, you'll notice there are practically NO dislikes!

  36. S.... ....

This album was so sad and beautiful when it was released (and still). The critics snobbery only made the true B-52's fan love it more.

  37. M.... R....

good morning B fans. I am doing my morning B-52s ritual. Am starting with this song. Am enjoying lately my playlists marked "fillers"...you know...the songs critics say arent good...that artists throw on records to fill up the record. In the case of the B-52s they are my favorites, as all of their songs are tied for my favorite song ever. Thank you Jesus for B-52s so-called "fillers". They are my salvation-uh.

  38. Q.... ....

    fee bifty toos

  39. A.... ....

I believe they were inspired to write this song right during their first trip to Brazil. Some elements on this beautiful song (cuíca a and lyrics) suggest that. Great song...

  40. S.... ....

one of my favourite b52's tunes :)))

  41. E.... ....

Underrated song from their most underrated album.

  42. K.... M....

AWESOME,and I'm not just saying that!
