Competition was the greatest thing that ever happened in hip hop because it had the same effect that having a free enterprise economy has. When there's competition, the best product is the one that sells more and becomes the most popular and the lesser products fold and don't exist anymore. It's the exact same thing as the golden age of hip hop from like 96/97-03/04 and the shit was still good for the most part until probably around 07. I feel you on the rap stuff that's mostly carried by the beats cus most of it, the lyrical content is straight booty, it has its place and time where that shits what is right for that moment. But it's not artistic and doesn't take any skill besides the producer and we didn't come for the producer, even though I got mad love for some of em cus they make it music, especially the legends, if they weren't there it would just be poetry which is cool but that's not what I wanna listen to when I'm cooling in the wheel or chillin wit my people or whatever. And I agree wit your last part too.
