I've heard this once and forgot about it cuz I was busy listening to Passion and Seven Sticks of Dynamite when they were new. Now I remember this song after some random person (or telemarketer) called from Wichita. So, thanks random person/telemarketer!

This should be Wichita’s theme song. Nobody cares about Wichita, maybe this song will give it some press.

I feel like this song is lowkey about the Salem Witch trials. Not solely because ‘Wichita’ sounds like Witch, but bc of the lines “in Wichita I have no more friends”, which could be like trust issues or they’re all dead b/c in the paranoia of the Witch trials, everyone would accuse others to save themselves. Also “I’m burning in the shade, I’ve always been this way” could be interpreted like “what happened to my safety, Ive never previously been in danger for something like this”. “In Panama don’t have to pretend” could be like escaping to another county to not die for nothing. “That’ll be the day that rattles in my veins” could be like how the person singing is afraid of being murdered. Another strong point is “your secrets come out at night” because that’s like when people spied on others for reasons to make an accusation.
I have no idea what it’s actually meant to be about but I feel like that’s a strong theory idk

Well being a fan of Awolnation, i can say, the only part of the music that i don't like is "witchita time"

its from Christmas 2016 it was kinda obscure because it released during a promo event from redbull records

It came out over a year ago, for this promo, but only sold it for like a month

Red Bull 20 before 16 album. For the entire month of December in 2015 you could download the album for free and this was one of the songs on it
