Avett Brothers, The - Another Is Waiting Lyrics

It's a fake, it's a hoax
It's a nowhere road where no one goes
Anywhere, anyhow
Well you're following your heart rate down

She's a rose, she's a queen
But she's staring at a magazine
In the dark, on that path
Where they doctor every photograph

[Chorus:]
Another is waiting
She isn't saying anything

If you care, if you like
Well, I'm standing in the lantern light
With our weapons and our love
And I use them both to cover up

[Chorus]

But I love you and I care
So you've got to get off that conveyor belt
If I could
I would come right in and take you off myself

It's a fake, it's a con
The nature of the road you're on
Let me see your skeleton
Well before your life is done

[Chorus x2]

  16. M.... E....

That's so cruel how they use people's skeletons just to make a music video. Those were real people and they should be respected enough to let them rest in peace!

    M.... E....

I doubt it matters much to the people, it's not like they went and dug them straight out of their graves.

    M.... E....

    Good troll mate

  17. T.... L....

I saw David Mayfield! Who is the actress though?

    T.... L....

    Yeah she's cute

  18. F.... B....

    Sensacional....

  19. C.... S....

I've listened to these guys my whole life. I used to sit on the stage while these guys played their gigs when they first started out and talked to them after their shows. If you're a real fan you'd know these newer songs are still coming from the same place.

  20. T.... C....

This could honestly have been on P!ATD's "Pretty. Odd." It's a pop song with a banjo.

    T.... C....

    completly agree!!

  21. S.... W....

    love this song

  22. B.... t....

When I die, I'm donating my skeletal remains to folk-rock music videos.

    #WorthyCauses

  23. I.... C....

I miss there old stuff. ;(

  24. N.... T....

everybody saying that the brothers are going mainstream because of this song?  really?  does any mainstream listener actually listen to the lyrics of songs, i don't think so.  all mainstream songs have are some sort of catchy beat and overplayed melody.  which is why the brothers will always be the best band to me.  the lyrics and the stories that they accentuate with beautiful music are what draw the fans in.  even in this song, the lyrics are what will make you stay here and listen time and time again.  not because of the upbeat, not because of the fancy video, but the story behind the words that you'll sing along with.

then if you take a look at the other single from this cd Morning Song, you'll go right back to the "roots" i guess they are.  the avett style has changed a bit over the years in the fact that they've gotten more members in the band, have grown older in life, and generally gone on without huge media success, but they still love music, they still make chilling, haunting, and beautiful songs.

actually, listening to one of their newer songs called Fisher Road... that song is incredibly haunting and definitely not mainstream.

  25. S.... S....

    Skeleton army

  26. u.... ....

okay.... didn't expect this from the brothers.

  27. L.... S....

    Is that Margot Robbie?

    L.... S....

good call but not sure aka harley quinn

  28. C.... d....

    man, that girl is beautiful

    C.... d....

anyone recording their sex rit now

  29. L.... Z....

You shallow must label everything in your lives, and then insist we all join you in your cells....isn't "music" good enough?

  30. K.... T....

    Me encanta :D

  31. E.... H....

have you seen this song live at Red Rocks! its awesome!

  32. E.... H....

yup, i like this song, and even it does sound different, imagine writing songs for more than a decade and staying true to yourself.  Even that lets break it down even more, have you ever, walked the same, talked the same, had the same friends, found any new interests, hobbies, life changing philosophies, God, or anything in the whole human experience as to which has changed you at all?  These musicians are human, and if you ask me, its a great song.

  33. m.... ....

I don't care what anyone says this song rocks especially live. This is coming from a long time Avett Brothers fan too. If you want them to stick to their roots, go listen to their old albums. Let the band evolve into what they want to be.

    m.... ....

    Well said.

  34. a.... s....

    Minecraft

  35. C.... H....

You people saying they need to stay true to their roots don't even know what their "roots" are obviously. They started out as punk rockers before they ever picked up a banjo and went acoustic. They aren't limited or defined by a genre. They are very talented musicians they can play any kind of genre they feel like. Start listening to the lyrics of the songs and the messages and quit worrying about how a song is presented. Every album they have ever made has had more upbeat punk songs, while also have bluegrassy, country and quiet acoustic songs. Don't see why this is such a shocker. If Talk On Indolence or Slight Figure of Speech came out on a new album people would be saying they are going too mainstream.

  36. L.... Y....

Goddammit people stop freaking out because this sounds "too mainstream" and how they need to stay true to their roots. They make one upbeat pop sounding song that lasts two minutes and you hipsters feel you can't identify with them anymore. It's not like they became that much more famous after this song. some people always need to find something to critique but it gets fucking annoying. It doesn't accomplish anything other that making sure others know you're a bigot

    L.... Y....

If it wasn't 'Mainstream' I wouldn't be listening. They are basically indie-country-alternative-folk mix. I consider Country to be NOT mainstream. I wouldn't listen to country music, but this is way better than that!

    Bring on the hatemail!

    L.... Y....

Though it has the same structure and length as a pop song, it has a lot of meaning, so if the hipsters are going to hate on it, maybe they should look it up

    L.... Y....

Lucas Y You’re kinda the first person I saw complaining in the comments...

    L.... Y....

Man you don't know what the hell your talking about, they are very good singers and, a lot of there songs are great every time I hear one iv never heard I think dam another good song, you must have bad taste in music.

    L.... Y....

Its this song that turned me on to them

  37. l.... ....

    wtf is this...Pop Bluegrass/Bruno Marz

  38. L.... F....

Is that fucking David Mayfield @1:27?

    L.... F....

    hhaaha sure is.

  39. d.... ....

This song is really important to me having dealt with an eating disorder. Not many people in show biz talk about this kind of stuff.

    d.... ....

I wish you luck in your endeavor. I really do.

  40. a.... ....

Why must Scott be so perfect❤️

  41. G.... ....

Awesome video! We included it in our 2014 New Orleans Jazz Fest Artists playlist!

  42. L.... G....

My gfs taste in music has rubbed off on me :)

  43. M.... B....

I hope this song isnt a sign of them selling out. Stay true to your roots avett bros

    M.... B....

Yeah because you'd rather see them foreclose on a house. Let them make money. This song is great.

  44. J.... W....

#Myavettskeleton  Id take him on the City Bus...and we would hang out in downtown Raleigh...everywhere!!!

  45. A.... L....

Scott me haces tanto reir <3 avett y su música perfecta.

  46. L.... M....

Layering and connecting muscles correctly over the bones to create an Avettbrostein and then I'd lend it back for the next video.

  47. M.... S....

I am grateful that this definitive departure from their roots is only two minutes-twenty six seconds long...........
    Reminder: Salvation Song

    M.... S....

They used to be punk so... This is as close to there roots as they have been recently

    M.... S....

Punk influenced, maybe....but this song doesn't do any of it justice.

    M.... S....

    AMG trolls

  48. G.... C....

#myavettskeleton   THE AMAZING @Avett Brothers  filmed this killer video at our shop #GarageCoffeeCompanyNashville  Don't you think the skelton should live behind our bar as our permanent Barista???

  49. R.... H....

#myavettskeleton I'd take him to a fashion show

  50. o.... ....

#myavettskeleton I would use it as a prop in my 19th century wet plate photography to make tintypes. Skeletons look amazing in the metallic sheen of these black and white early photographs on metal. Heck, I would love to make wet plate tintypes of The Avetts!

  51. J.... M....

#myavettskeleton my plans this summer is to cross country the US with my girlfriend. If I win this skeleton, he will be our 3rd companion on the journey, and he will be in the pictures! Gotta let him see more of the world, everyone deserves that adventure

  52. D.... S....

#myavettskeleton He would keep me company while we listened to Avett Brothers' music and marveled at their talent.

  53. J.... A....

#myavettskeleton is like the mannequin bffl I've always wanted. The head is purrfect for creating wigs, plus they all look ready to party.

  54. E.... M....

If Slim comes to live (?) with me in Nelsonville, OH he will get the opportunity to continue working in the music and art fields.
He can model SOH logo shirts & make personal appearances at SOH & NMF.
With his pearly white teeth...body, he will have hot chicks from OU & HC lovin' on him all the time.
After looking into his empty eye sockets, I can tell he will want to go out and help the local community.
Slim will be happy to know there are many worthwhile non-profits that would love his endorsement.
I'm sure Slim would not only come to love the scenic beauty of SE Ohio, but also the diverse folks that call Athens Co. Ohio home.

  55. A.... W....

    #myavettskeleton
I would use the skeleton to help me draw and paint the human figure! Yes, I am an art student and could use a skeleton of all things. Btw, listen to your music all the time and will see u in concert in March. Can't wait!

  56. A.... H....

#Myavettskeleton He would be my study buddy!! A nursing student needs some to poke and prod!!!

  57. N.... G....

#myavettskeleton I'd probably go ahead and get a refill of coffee at Chick-fil-A... because you know, our conversation is just that good... and the fries are gone.

  58. B.... W....

#Myavettskeleton  would join my collection, and would definitely be the center of a number of theatre productions and works I do in the future.

  59. M.... B....

I love your music and would love to get my hands on this amazing skeleton... I am a high school art teacher and using it as a still life prop so that it can be immortalized in over a hundred paintings every year for the rest of my career.

  60. H.... L....

If I won this, first, I would cry. Then, I would show it the avett tattoos I have as well as the skeletal tattoos. Furthermore, I would give it a name. You can't very well keep a life-sized skeleton and not have the decency to give it a name! And a gender! Though I'm definitely feeling "male." No Skelton owning would be complete without a dance. A dance would definitely happen. I would re-enact every moment from '80s sitcoms in which the Skelton in the science classroom is involved. I would serenade the skeleton. I would sing him every Avett song, even some Nemo songs and TSAAD songs. If he was feeling it, I would take him on a picnic. Perhaps attach it to a bicycle built for two and pedal through a park in the north Georgia mountains. I would write poetry about this new friend, and lastly, I would feel complete.
Thanks for your consideration. (But another is waiting, so read on. Or don't ;)...)

  61. C.... W....

Heck, it would great for a homeschool family to USE!!!

  62. J.... C....

The skeleton would make a great addition to a college student's decorations.

  63. J.... C....

227 Is a crazy number for me mineand my only bros bday but not twins :) these guys are mas guapo and from where i grew up NC . Beautiful music 3

  64. J.... C....

F*N beautiful. Perfect. Love the dehumanization.

  65. E.... L....

starting to sound too pop-musicish :(

  66. W.... g....

    What key

  67. J.... M....

Ugh, I wish I could say otherwise but I just don't like this album. I and Love and You was a pretty good album but must of their songs afterwards in The Carpenter were heading downhill and I just don't like this album.

  68. t.... ....

This is a step in the wrong direction.

  69. E.... M....

I totally dig the Avett Brothers.

  70. S.... C....

Love the cameo by David Mayfield.

  71. E.... G....

    Avett... Dont go mainstream..

    E.... G....

    Not hipster enough for you?

    E.... G....

the field can not be seen from well with in

    E.... G....

People join bands for fame and chicks. Grow up. In your world they would forever be playing in coffee houses and at state fairs without making any money. Great song by the way.

    E.... G....

Emil Gustavsson no one knows who they so u got ur wish u bitch

  72. P.... L....

This song makes the Avetts almost sound like an acoustic Simple Plan :)

    P.... L....

    I agree!

  73. S.... B....

I think, if you think back to 'January Wedding', they sing that "she was sick like Audrey Hepburn". I'm pretty sure one of their wives has dealt with an eating disorder. I'm so glad that they are sayin this for everyone to hear.

    S.... B....

I thought that referred to alcoholism.

  74. B.... ....

    coffee + music = awesome

    B.... ....

    just roll a blunt.

  75. A.... S....

Cannot wait to see them again in Tampa on March 29th. Saw them last year at the Clearwater Jazz Festival for $10! (Yes I know a Jazz Festival with the Avett Brothers but the festival has expended to more main stream music).

  76. e.... ....

This is amazing! I love it!

  77. D.... M....

This is a very power message in a video format. Nice job on the treatment.

  78. A.... M....

The Avett Brothers are amazing and very inspirational. I'm very happy about their success over the years!! :)

  79. A.... A....

    She's not fat. She's big-boned.

  80. A.... A....

The end where the skeleton poses for the viewers - and then drops dead - reminds me The Hunger Games...even though I've never seen it.

  81. T.... ....

When did these guys get so popular? I remember seeing them at the House of Blues in South Carolina maybe 5 or more years ago and barely anyone was there. And of course, this isn't really a sell out band, they play what they want to and don't conform to gain fans, and that makes them all the better. I love this band and I'm glad they're getting attention now.

  82. 1.... ....

For some reason, this reminds me of "Trojans" by Atlas Genius. Obviously both are very different, but something in the melody is a bit similar.

  83. i.... ....

Heard this in the bathroom at the casino last night after losing for the first time in months. It was fitting, so I had to look it up!

  84. K.... S....

One night I turned on the tv and there were these wonderful people on I thnk it was Jimmy Kimmel and it was right after Sandy. I listened to them omg put forward their rendition of 'Brooklyn'. Maybe w philharmonic. Knocked me to the floor. It was fabulous. I listened to it many times and shared it and now it is gone. Love the vocals. Lyrics are xclnt. Nice music. This video needs females w less caked on make up to jive w the look of the musicians.....

  85. h.... ....

WOW! AWESOME! Amazing! WOW! YIPEEE! Wonderful! INCREDIBLE!!!

  86. d.... ....

The message that they understand what it feels like to love a woman who is obsessed with body image and to think that the man you love, loves your body even when you don't is amazing

  87. h.... b....

It's called "the Dream Appointed" you can find it on here...That banjo player is Scott Avett...the more you know...

  88. y.... ....

i wish they had that part they sang on the jimmy fallon show when the banjo player say "another youngster..."

  89. f.... ....

I can appreciate that they're growing as musicians but their new album doesn't make me feel the way the others did. :/

  90. S.... ....

hahaha I had the ad for Magpie and the Dandillion with this song

  91. R.... ....

This song sounds A LOT like Trojans. Anyone?

  92. B.... A....

Hey everyone Check out my Cover to this song with guitar chords

  93. J.... P....

If I had a dollar for every time I listened to the Avett brothers, I would bankrupt all the countries in the world.

  94. r.... ....

The song is very catchy but the video moves it beyond just another pop song. I really like it.

  95. C.... ....

this is why I love them.
