I’m also a guitarist and that solo is done with a lot of sustainiac and a whammy bar. I don’t think he “sabotaged” it because it was a “forced” cover. I think it fits nicely. It’s in key and everything. Gates doesn’t have to constantly shred to be a good guitarist.

Jesus, everyone has their opinion. People just need to learn to respect each other. People can say their music sucks, and I respect that. However, saying that the people themselves suck is taking it too far. The talent in this band is far and away some of the best in the modern era. Synnester Gates is a once in a lifetime talent at guitar and will go down as one of the best. For those who don't think so, watch a live performance of "Scream", every note in that guitar solo is picked and Gates himself admitted he wasn't sure he would be able to play it live

Since any guitar player, and many metal fans, understand that Synyster Gates is a wicked guitarist (just listen to Afterlife), you have to wonder why he decided to not even attempt the original solo or create a good one. Such a disappointment.
