Avenged Sevenfold - Paradigm Lyrics
You've been breaking down for far too long
Far too many moons since you've felt well and strong
You see, you could say goodbye but you don't have to die
Not ever
Architect a code so you won't feel the pain
With your family by your side and vigor in your eyes forever
Live forever
I'm way up, a god in size
Beyond the reach of mortals I shed my human side
Farther, O' Father
I stare at my reflection, have I lost that boy inside?
Final paradigm
Think about your answer but please understand
While it's natural to fear, I'll make it disappear forever
I forever
I'm way up, a god in size
Beyond the reach of mortals I shed my human side
Farther, O' Father
I stare at my reflection, have I lost that boy inside?
Final paradigm
Singular I am
I have to question if these thoughts are mine
To live forever but did something in me die?
I'm clawing my skin but I can't feel it inside
I know the agony of pain would hurt so much better
I'm way up so far up
Have I lost myself tonight?
Father, O' Father
Have you lost that boy you used to know?

most underrated song of the album
Lol idk why but the part after 2:54 I picture a bunch of witches flying around causing chaos
2:12 Can't scream anymore? sez hoo

@Duckspy course I am brother
just responding to some people who claim he can't scream anymore
MNRS E.B. Oh shit the “sez Hoo” actually made sense there. Sorry dude thought you were one of those guys
@Duckspy Haha yeah that's what I meant
alright brother rock on
Pop fans: metal doesn't have meaning
A7X: hold my beer
Because despacito is so meaningful
"I'm clawing my skin but I can't feel it inside
I know the agony of pain would hurt so much better!"
That part gives me chills every fucking time!
Sponsored by Ernie Ball
If I had to change the name of the album I would put Synyster Gates with Avenged Sevenfold.
Really, it's always great, but I feel that in the whole album it was a real beast
Amazing how this album sounds like a7x mixed with muse, dream theater, and king crimson even though the only change they made was the drummer. And hes a punk drummer for that matter!
I used to hate this album when it first came out. The drumming, the guitars, the tone were so different than what id expect a7x to be. But 2 years later and after a thorough relistening this might just be my favorite a7x album. Amazing how our taste changes and matures
everyone talking about synyster gates, cant anyone hear that sick riff zacky is playin?
0:58 I'M WAAAAAITING
FORGOTTING SIGNSSSS
THE EMMERICH IMMORTALS
I SEW MY HUMAN SIZE
One of the their best refrain's come
Second part of solo reminds me a lot of Megadeth. It's like there were 3 guitarists on that solo. Syn is amazing.
Spit Out The bone!
I'd love to see them making a music video of this song
Damn man , brooks gone wild on this album! Keep it up brooks !
Father, O' Mother x 2 and Mother, O' father at the end...
The drumming on this track is mind blowing
I have a question if this thots are mine
This song needs to be in the Cyberpunk2077 game. Just so fitting
Syns needs to make an album full of solos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The flesh is weak
are this whole album telling about from end of world to future technology
Syn has got to be one of the most unappreciated guitarists of all time, they talk about him, but not like they should... amazing
His singing style in this song sounds kinda similar to Chris Cornel's.
They both had the same vocal coach
Best Vinyl I've got! i will past to my future kids and grandkids show them real music
i can't fucking stop listening to this song. "Singggggggularrrrrrrrrr i ammmmmmmmmm" shit gives me chills
holy fuck this song goes hard
Am I the only one whos noticed that legit some of the best songs are 4:20? Say It Ain't So by Weezer, this, so many others like bruh
My Most favorite group 🤘
Favorite quote “to live foREVer but did something in me die” 3:33
Top three favorite albums diamonds in the rough, the stage avenged sevenfold self titled
Damn, i was never a A7X fan but after this album thing has changed.
Their lyrics were always good, but the past few albums have really gotten deeply philosophical. Things like existentialism, astronomy, philosophy being much bigger themes than before, it blows my mind when lyrics this good just happened to get paired with song writing so good.
yeah my brother got into these guys and showed me the Stage. I was hooked after that song and the rest of this album just kills.
Holy hell the more i listen to this it keeps climbing and climbing up to become one of my top favourite A7X songs ever!
foda ! a7x melhor banda sem mais
beyond the reach of mortals have I shed my human side. will we embrace this reality soon or realize the importance of emotion before it's too late. time will tell. a7x. great band, speakers for some of the lowest hardworking citizens let's just hope they haven't foretold our future with this album as we've already jump-started the course.
That description enrish xD
BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!
45 people suck.
love A7X. hate how crazy youtube has gotten with their ads.
This song pretty much sums up the Crysis series
Honestly this is my favorite songs out of all the songs on this album.
This song is so underrated in their album ❤️😍
Learn Everything boi no its not
How does this not have 1,000,000 views?!?!
*1,000,000,000
This is the best song on the album. I really wish a video clip. that would be a big deal
who else gets chills at 0:58?
Talented drummer...
Khrawborlang Syiemlieh
Not as good as the old drummer
YOYOYO 4:20 mothafuckas!!!!!!!
I can not get enough of Matt's Rhythm/Blues/Jazz vocals!
this is perfect
Dying is scary. But so is living forever.
Not to mention artificial clones of ourselves. Learning and evolving without limits. Digital wars. Digital viruses, and parasites. Artificial knowledge bordering on omnipotence. Digital hierarchies. Overlords. Conquerors. Executions. -Delete-
Oer Deepest and scariest comment ever. I can imagine now future races of inteligence looking back on us and seeing how we created our demise with technology. Wires piling up. Lights burning out. The spark and sizzle and crackle of destruction of the human cyborg race.
live foREVer
2:13 tell me that isn't the rev. come on. no one else screams like that
fluffy weiners Can't be Rev
In the begin sounds like a black metal song, awful
Douglas Gonzalez Quintero nah son, chill out.
haven't heard much about A7x in awhile. I've missed hearing Sinister Gates' rocking out.
ITS *SYNYSTER GATES*
Mark Robles tHaNk yuO
time 4:20 makes it perfect
Something about this song reminds me of Megadeth. Like Rust in Peace or Countdown To Extinction era
Probably because Syn sounds like Marty Friedman here. You can definitely tell Marty is his influence.
they sung this last night 😍😍😍😍😍
these guys are in tune with something very real.
Agreed.
Joseph Shirley yeah
la mejor musicas
its 4:20 minutes long
You're a Fucking genius...
Like si sabes español :'v
IT'S A PARADIGM!
Damn, that solo..
0:55 Jimmy?!
Pretty sure he meant the line "Live foREVer" but ok
Sir Squidington still no you can still hear its m shadows.. Rev has a higher pitch than m shadows he has a raspy voice
fernandograffiti25 I know it's shadows, you didn't get the joke
Sir Squidington wasnt really a joke. Tbh
fernandograffiti25 think that's what he was going for I guess
Kiralık Aşk'tan gelenler ♡♡♡♡♥♥♥♥♥
hassiktir
troll değil mi?
akın Kaya bennn <333
The drumming in the beginning reminds me of some of the songs on STST
I give this song a definite 10/10 the chorus is absolutely awesome, Ive started to judge the songs (IMO))) if the rev would make something like it, and this definitely seems like it for some reason
Is this Matt's scream holy fuck?
Welfey yes it's Matt he confirmed it in a q&a on reddit awhile ago, but Johnny does the screams live.
Blaze it up 420 holy shit he still has it D:
Crazy that people still believe the whole "Shadows can't scream anymore" bit, even after God Hates Us & Not Ready to Die. He might not be able to (or want to) do it all the time, and who could blame him after the damage it's done before, but he can still let out some insane ones when it's needed.
oye digistes pobre perro así que te doy linke y me suscribo
3:33-3:44 The best part
*0:00 - 4:20
Shadow´s Vocals are on point!
there is a small mistake in lyrics. "father, o' father" would be "father, or mother"
*W R O N G*
how does it feel to be so wrong that 14 people told you that you're wrong
2:13 holy shit
I finally get to see them live this August, can't wait!
I saw them last year for my 18th birthday and let me tell you that it was fucking amazing.
Awesome song
This song gives me chills
me too, man! what a master piece
Frankenstein?
Que delicia cara
This is my favorite song of this album, i love the riff before the chorus
2:32 most unique guitarist of our generation. all hail synyster gates.
Can Battal Syn is a naga
*bows down and preys to syn gates*
I thought his heretic solo was sick then heard this
Zack Needs Credit To, Everyone Does...Maybe Not Christ, He Pranked Syn...JK!
He's great but by no means the most unique, look at larry lerlonde or doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein for unique playing
I don't expect there albums to be the same because the try different sounds every album they've made which is why I love there music
This really reminds me of the lyrical content of flash of the blade kind of. IDK if thats just me.
FuZe Cyanide Surprise haha now that I have discovered Diamonds In The Rough I finally know what y'all are talking about 😂😂😂🤘🏼
é a hora de calar a porra da boca e ouvir esse solo maravilhoso 2:32
Song meaning:
It's mocking transhumanism, the belief that humans should be merged with machines.
*You've been breaking down for far too long*
*Far too many moons since you've felt well and strong*
This is referring to the human body (injuries, disease).
*You see, you could say goodbye but you don't have to die*
*Not ever*
The goal of transhumanism is immortality by body modification.
*Engineer the wires to your brain*
*Architect a code so you won't feel the pain*
Transhumanism aims to make body parts that alert you with artificial pain... simply coding pain.
*With your family by your side and vigor in your eyes forever*
*Live forever*
The "family by your side" part is referring to the excitement associated with transhumanism amongst most people...
*I'm way up, a god in size*
*Beyond the reach of mortals, I shed my human side*
This is referring to total body modification. Transhumanism also believes in "making one a god". The Vigilant Christian also says "this a trend that tries to make you believe you're a god".
*Farther, O' Father*
*I stare at my reflection, have I lost that boy inside?*
Basically, translate this to "O' Father, I am different from when Adam and Eve were created"
*Final paradigm*
Not sure, but I believe this may refer to how history repeats itself... immortality always desired. Perhaps, this is the final attempt at immortality.
*What's it really mean to be a man?*
*Think about your answer but please understand*
*While it's natural to fear, I'll make it disappear forever*
*I forever*
Basically the thought process of transhumanism, ending in immortality.
*I'm way up, a god in size*
*Beyond the reach of mortals I shed my human side*
*Farther, O' Father*
*I stare at my reflection, have I lost that boy inside?*
*Final paradigm*
*Singular I am*
Transhumanists are testing what they call the "brain net", a singular brain-to-brain network to share each others' thoughts. They call it "the singularity".
*I have to question if these thoughts are mine*
*To live forever but did something in me die?*
This is referring to how you'd live without organs in total body modification.
*I'm clawing my skin but I can't feel it inside*
*I know the agony of pain would hurt so much better*
Basically, A7X is saying, "pain is better than wires".
*I'm way up so far up*
*Have I lost myself tonight?*
*Father, O' Father*
*Have you lost that boy you used* *to know?*
Okay this is what I need for Fermi paradox bob
The idea of this whole album is that A7x saw it one way, but for us it can be whatever we want it to be. Good example is "Higher".
Was wondering who else knew that.
strange how you all talk like you know... its about meditation for me ain't no robot gonna be god, the fuck.. and a paradigm has nothing to do with technology
I can it's now making me freak out!
Motherfucker! They did the same thing as in Danger Line, where if you trip over the weird drum spacing in the beginning you miss where the 1-2-3-4 supposed to go. Two ways to listen to that intro, Avenged are sneaky bastards. Wackerman's first tom hit is on 2 not 1
Normal people dont notice it so its cool
Love that stuff! it's like it's a little extra for the mindful eared musician out there
An 'anacrusis'
Also the drums are fucking insane in the verses
Getting Diamonds in the Rough vibes from this bangin tune.
Paradigm > God Damn > The Stage > Creating God > Femi Paradox > Angels > The rest
exist > the stage > god damn > higher > fermi paradox > the rest
Fermi Paradox > Roman Sky > Paradigm > The Stage > Exist > God Damn > Higher > Angels > The rest
What do people have against simulation
Im guessing dose wasnt on the album when this comment was made?
GtaMoviesGuy you’re trippin.
The meaning behind this album is real dark. I love it.
I see it as rather a discussion sparking album. M Shadows said he wrote this song about nanotechnology and it's potential to make us immortal (the second verse). The lyrics show the positive side of it, but also question if we would be humans anymore. ("I stare at my reflection, have I lost that boy inside?")
I believe it’s all a metaphor. I feel the meaning is beautiful
cant we all just get along and agree this album is a masterpiece, just look at the instrumentals alone. love it <3
KaRaTeLoRd11 I love a7x best band ever
man Wackermann is tearing shit up i love this
@Mark Robles sorry dude dont get me wrong i didnt want to believe that too but honestly i thought no point in lying to yourself brooks is better. hes the one of if not the best drummer i have seen and he is a perfect fit for a7x, they even said that brooks and jimmy came from the same school and grew up in a very similar environment and they said many times when the say something to brooks they get a very similar response than jimmy gave.
@Mark Robles nope. If u know something about drumming, Brooks is way more technical. Rev had his own unique things but these are on another level, something u can't find that easily. BUT if Rev would have had a longer lifezhe could be just as good.
A huge part of me wish he stayed with bad religion. He shaped such a huge part of that band
I love this!!!!
