Autry, Gene - Blueberry Hill Lyrics
I found my thrill on blueberry hill
On blueberry hill when I found you
The moon stood still on blueberry hill
And lingered until my dreams came true
Love's sweet melody
But all of those vows we made
Were never to be
Tho' we're apart, you're part of me still
For you were my thrill on blueberry hill
The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody
But all of those vows we made
Tho' we're apart, you're part of me still
For you were my thrill on blueberry hill

Autry, Gene Blueberry Hill Comments
Tom Willett aka Featureman brought me here 😊
There are so many songs that have been appropriated by Blacks from White singers and song writers , but to hear it from so many Black comments on youtube, that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground , on youtube it was only one way...thanks to Pat Boone
The purloining was always practiced by nearly everone
In modern terms he loved banging her....
Wow! Amazing version of this song.
I love listen to Rune Larsen regards from boyfriend of Ada Jones fan
Gene Autry was a fantastic singer
This song was recorded six times in 1940, as far as sources know the first release being by the Sammy Kaye Orchestra with vocals by Tommy Ryan (released may 31st 1940). Another version was by the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Which ever one was the original or first version we'll probably never know for sure, but it's likely to be either the Sammy Kaye version, or the Gene Krupa version (released June 3rd 1940).
I hated this song into I heard Gene Autry sing it. Fats Domino’s version is only so much noise so I got headache of it. My father love music from Fats Domino’s time but he never have liked Domino.
I've subscribed on your name alone.
I love this recording and I love listen to Gene Autry.
Gene sang this song beautiful. Fats Domino did a only noise version of it and I hate His version and the same did Elvis Presley. I not like Fats Domino and Elvis Presley. Their recordings is garbage and Elvis never sang besutiful songs great. The most heautifully I have heard on recordings by a male singer are Henry Burr
sounds funny, the worst version ive heard
jelena miljanic I do not agree with you at all. Gene Autry maded a very beautiful version. The best version ever of Bluberry hill.
pavle miljanic I blocked you. Gene did a good version. You are a shit who not understand that.Shame you.Go to the bed an shame you. Gene Autry was better than Fats Domino and Elvis Presley together x 100000
Gene Autry is one of my favorite singers. He is on my top ten list of best male singers of all times.
Here we hear a beautiful version of a song Fants Donmino maked noise of.
@Billy Murray fan. . . You're right about that! So many good old-time songs have been messed up by modern recordists, such as: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Deep Purple, 💜 I Only Have Eyes For You. The original versions were the best! 😃 Gene Autry is one of my favorites 💖 🤠. My older brother, who passed away in 2016, used to play the guitar 🎸 and do concerts at the VA Hospital to entertain the patients. One of the songs he did was "The Singing Hills," another Gene Autry tune. My brother also sang gospel songs on the radio.
FYI music was written by Vincent Rose, the lyrics by Larry Stock and Al Lewis. It was recorded six times in 1940.
Very popular and get too your heart
Marvellous xxx
Wow......
Nice one Mr Burns awesome
This is the only version of Blueberry hill I can like. Gene Autry sang this very beautifully. I hated this song into I found this version of it. Now I love this song by Gene Autry. I hated also Are you lonesome tonight with Elvis Presley Into I found a version by Henry Burr recorded in 1927.
So sweet!
The first recording was by Sammy Kaye and his Orchestra
Archie Lee ok,but Autry did the best version
The actual recording year is 1940
Louis Lee OK. Now I know that. Thanks
There are one or two posts by people who think that Gene's version was not the first recorded, but I believe that he did sing the song first in the film The Singing Hill. It would appear that the song was then picked up and recorded a few times in 1940. The film The Singing Hill was released in 1941 which to me means it was probably produced in 1940. So, it is an interesting discussion as to who sang the original, or who released the first single version of the song. Both sets of thought could be correct but if Gene sang it first in the film, then to me that is the original. But it is a good discussion to have.
First version to be waxed (May 1940)
Sammy Kaye and his orchestra
Vocals Tommy Ryan . (available on youtube)
Wow you learn something new every day. I thought this was a Fats Domino Original!
Ceallaigh StarSeed No it's not.
Ostara StarSeed, Fats' NYT obit comments brought me here! Yep, I thought this was a Fats' original, but he made it his own, and the world followed his lead!
That is what I thought too. Year after year.
Mr666Evilone My mom told me It was a older version from the 1940s of this song when we heard it by Domino innthe 1980s,but she not rember the singers name, but I think she mean this version by Autry. My mom means to remeber she was 5 and this song was layd in the radio. She was 5 in 1949
I loved this song as a child, and when Fats Domino sent it up the Charts I wanted to do it, they finally found a place for it on my Loving You Album LPM 1515 for RCA Victor. The past is so good don't you think so.
holy shit this is horrible sound quality
@Matt mensing still sounds better than most of todays songs
@RooZvonBooZ you have got me there, good sir
+Matt mensing no billion dollar studios in 1941. Also this recording is off of an old black 78RPM record that would break like glass if dropped. There wasn't any pitch control, which Gene and others didn't even need. Ha ha. Take away the pitch correction apparatus, the reverb , the modern technologies and many of today's modern equipment and some vocalist would sound like your Grandpaw singing in the shower.
Always good to hear the original. Fats made it his own with a great version, but Scatman Crothers also did a superb version as did The Five Redcaps
I respect the man with a capital R, but Fats Domino's version is the one that is the best
No this is the best version of Bluberry hill
+Ada In Norway its your opinion, I respect it
but in my opinion, Fats' Domino is better...
+Ada Old music lover its your opinion and I respect it
Oh, sorry, thought the original song was sungby the fat dominoes, this versin is great though, thank you fr postin, love you.
But of course! I was simply using the word "steal" facetiously :]
I know I shouldnt have even dignified his comment with a response, but he got to me.
those were the days when one could understand the lyrics... Not like : Oh Baby Oh Baby ... Blah blah blah with all kinds of sound effects and Bieber touching his crotch.
No, Fats stole this from Gene. Ok
The music was written by Vincent Rose, the lyrics by Larry Stock and Al Lewis. It was recorded six times in 1940. May 31 Sammy Kaye Orchestra, June 3 Gene Krupa's. The other 1940 releases were The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Kay Kyser, Russ Morgan, Gene Autry (also in the 1941 film The Singing Hill), Connee Boswell, and Jimmy Dorsey. Louis Amstrong had a pop hit version (with different lyrics) 9 years later. Fats' Rock n Roll version was an International hit in 1956.
This is the original version from The Singing Hill in 1941. However, Elvis DID in fact steal this from Fats Domino.
See how the white man trys to steal a black mans song? Just like the beatles and the stones.
The music was written by Vincent Rose who was born in Italy, the lyrics by Larry Stock who was born in Hungary and Brooklynite Al Lewis. Autry recorded this in 1940. The first African American to record it was Louis Armstrong in 1949 and then Antoine "Fats" Domino in 1956.
awesome! ...barry
Thanks for posting, Gene was a real star. His birth name was actually Orvon Grover Autry. He threw the 'Eugene' in years later, apparently didn't care much for 'Grover'
There's been a lot of debate as to who did it first. Some say Gene Autry, which I believe to be true. But others say the version by Sammy Kaye Orchestra, with vocals by Tommy Ryan was the original. Also it's been believed that Glenn Miller's version with Ray Eberle was the first.
All three are from 1940. But being that Gene first sang it in one of his movies leads me to believe,Treasureson78rpm that you are correct, and that Glenn's and Sammy's followed.
Any remarks?
Thank You Treasureson78RPM !!!!
